John John Florence vs Jack Robinson | Margaret River Pro 2022 FINAL Heat Replay

Спорт

Heat Replay of John John Florence vs Jack Robinson at the Margaret River Pro FINAL
Margaret River is a battle for survival. Raw swells slam the rugged coastline and even the world’s best surfers feel small against the untamed power of Western Australia. This year, adding to it all is the new mid-season cut, which will reduce the Championship Tour competitors by a third to the top 22 men and 10 women. Who will make the cut and continue their hunt for a World Title, and who will leave Margaret River headed for the Challenger Series?
Follow the road to the Rip Curl WSL Finals.

I’m for both surfers , that 1 move air and getting a 8.0 point is not right . It over scored . ( it seem like favoring local) If Jack did 2 or 3 moves and air , then , YES , he deserves to get a good score of 6 to 9 points or more . That 1 air and no other moves before or after . The point should be 5 to 6 .

Yeah I do think JJF’s last wave deserved a higher score maybe even to take 1st just because of the combo including a small air that he landed. It didn’t have as much power but was a solid combo. Jack’s big air was great but an 8 for one move is a bit over scored, so not scoring JJF’s last wave higher than they did was weird

I love both surfers, but JJF won that final. I agree, just doing an air on a wave( even the difficulty of the wave and low probability of landing), that score was too high.

I dont understand how people say this.....in what world is 2-3 turns more difficult or impressive than a 8 ft high 360? Like is that just a carry over from legacy surfing/style? An air is clearly a more impressive maneuver, especially on these non-barrel waves that everyone is doing turns on

A masterful performance by Jack throughout the event. Local knowledge definitely played a big part in his success at Main Break- not an easy wave, esp. at size. He did what he needed to do in every heat, nothing more nothing less, usually coming from behind. I really like his style; functional surfing without making it look too flashy. A zen performance to be sure.

John rides wave 1, Jack rides wave 2, they both take jetskis.. Jack gets priority? Probably decided the heat right there. Judges suck. Screwed Kelly twice by lowballing his first wave earlier this year too.

John John, you had it very complicated with the judges, that spin is the best of the final, much better than the poor aerial that Jack did. In another latitude you would have had other notes and the pressure would be for Jack...let's not forget that in Bells against Italo it was clearly seen what this is about now...they forget that we see it free surfers....
