I was fortunate enough to see Gielgud on stage twice. I saw him as Sir Politic Would-Be in Volpone at the National theatre, alongside Paul Scofield and Ben Kingsley, and in The Best of Friends, his final theatre role in 1988.

Very enjoyable. Surprising how few filmed interviews there are with him on youtube. Thanks.

I am intrigued by how little eye contact he makes with the interviewer. He speaks mostly to some spot behind the camera.

Sir John Gielgud was the greatest actor in the English speaking world. Greater than Olivier and Richardson. Gielgud was the very greatest.

John Gielguds' Presence on Caligula was really represenative of the 'old order'. Similar to Alec Guiness' presence on Star Wars in 77 (original version) Mr. Gielgud was very positive inspite of the smutty nature of the movie.
