That peak chorus is amongst the most committed and passionate lines ever delivered by a singer. He didn't just put his soul into it, he wrapped ours in as well.

Never underrated, just under exposed. He did undertake some European touring and usa touring, but missed his home and family life so global touring didn't happen. He has a happy, grounded life with his lovely family, friends, backing singers, band members, and seems to have a real love fest with his fans. Sounds like win win all round. 9.1.24. UK. E❤

I was either at this concert or another night of this tour - the crazy thing about John’s power is that the amplification does almost nothing. It’s ALL him. I was seated one tier up off one side of the stage, and at one point I heard his voice directly. As in, I could hear him OVER the sound system. It was just astonishing.

Steve Prestwich left Cold Chisel and also joined LRB at about the same time. This song was written by Steve, who was a brilliant song writer. People have their own favourite version of this song, which was originally a Cold Chisel song. John and Jimmy have performed this together and tend to just belt it out all over the place. My opinion is that this particular vocal performance is John's best ever and the best version of the song I've ever heard from any performer. Cold Chisel fans will probably think otherwise and I respect that. I'm glad you got to hear him singing this on his own. The song itself is so emotive, but layer that with John's ability to make you feel the lyrics of the songs he sings, and it's just a wonderful musical performance all round. The guitar work is brilliant. Stunning, stunning live performance of a very difficult song. Pity you kept stopping it, but you didn't know what was coming. I hope you just listen to it yourself now all the way through because you really understand the genuine passion John has for the song. Thanks for showing this.

I've been a John Farnham fan for over 50 years - seen him live in concert many many times. Just the best performer you'll ever see live in concert.

I went through a lot of cassettes of Johns as I grew up. I too just replayed and replayed his songs. His voice. His vocals just amaze me. He doesn’t need a band behind him. He is pure magic to listen to.

You said it. “Just flawless”. This is his best version of this song. There’s a bunch of good ones but this is amazing. It was written by the Cold Chisel drummer Steve Prestwich who has now passed.

Have loved this beautiful human since I was around 15 ... have been to many concerts ... he has never missed a beat ! ... a consummate entertainer !! ... took my reluctant son when he was 15 (very musical himself) ... ' don't want to see Johnny Farnham !! ' ... Shut up ! already paid for the tickets ... get in the car !!! ... after that night ... all my cds of John disappeared and years later my enlightened son flew from Singapore (living and working) to see the man he was once reluctant to see !! ... this was not combined with any family gatherings ... just for the musician he now truly appreciates !!!! .... :)

John has made me smile for more than 30 years. My first concert was age of reason. In a selfish way, I am so glad he never made it big on the world stage because I got to enjoy it all being in his home town. Dude you missed out big time seeing this man do this thing

I was at that concert, it was amazing! He sung like that the whole concert, he’s a freak! Yeah a Cold Chisel song and definitely an anthem but we seem to have quite a few anthems, definitely You’re The Voice included. I’d say Khe San, Never Tear Us Apart, Horses and Eagle Rock to name a few anthems.

Dannielle Gaha on background vocals... this was when Lisa was off having her baby... she was in the audience with the baby at one of these concerts... Guitarist is Bret Garsed-only time he was absent was when he toured with The Nelsons in the US during the Chain Reaction tour... which was filled by Jack Jones (Irwin Thomas ) Bret (Rambo) always reminds me of Richard Gere once he had his long hair cut shorter.
