He kept trying to retire in Australia but we wouldn’t let him. He did so many “this is the last one” tours 😂 if he announced a concert today it would be sold out in seconds. It’s 4am in Australia and I woke up feeling “blue” with all the BS going on in the world and you just gave me 13 minutes of sunshine (and it’s pouring rain even) So grateful xx

'He can take you there' - that's about the best description of what Farnsey does I've heard yet. And you're absolutely right - he can belt it out with his ridiculous range enough to blast you into the stratosphere one minute, and sing so gently it's enough to bring you to tears the next. THAT'S talent. And, in his 70s now, he can STILL do it. Amazing performer.

When touring, John liked to drink with his crew after the show (scotch or bourbon I think). It was shown in a video on his tour. He was also a smoker but after I had a lung test after smoking for 40 years, I had good lungs and when I asked the woman testing me why my lungs were okay, she said 'It's in the genes'. I guess John has good genes and he was destined to be an extraordinary singer.

What makes John so special is that he is so down to earth and a heart as big as our red center he always has a g'day mate

Kiwi here. Absolutely love John Farnham. One of my absolute favourites that demonstrates his flexibility, skill and hard case attitude is his rendition of ‘No Aphrodisiac’ from the Sydney Opera House live concert of the Great Australian Songbook. Spectacular. Just can’t find it on KZread.

@@anniej8311 thanks. Yes I am aware of that audio version but the live Sydney Opera House concert version is spectacularly better. I have it on DVD, but actually wouldn’t know how to share it on YT….

If you wanna get to John Farnham, you first have to realise that he has been performing since the late 60"s when he made it big with the song " Sadie The Cleaning Lady". Check out the live version of this song. The buildup is actually longer than the song, but he has a lot of fun though.

Hi. If you haven’t heard in the USA he is recovering from mouth surgery. He is now cancer free. No news as to whether he will perform again. He is the real deal the whole package. Such an entertainer. We love him in Australia. ❤❤

I think, every Aussie knew when he wrote this song, and sung it, he wasn't singing to any of us or for any of us, he was singing for his wife and to her. We just happened to be there to hear him.

John lives not far from me. We lost his voice from cancer…mouth cancer. He. Did smoke. I believe this is my favourite song….it’s just brings me to tears…sometimes words just don’t cut it. I am so sad for him losing his voice but knowing God’s way, it will be be for John’s good always….but I still miss his beautiful voice.

He can do it all, bluesy and slow and lovely ballads, and he can absolutely rock it out. Have a look at him singing Playing to Win for something of a different speed. John Farnham was one of the first live concerts I ever saw, back in the 80s. Still one of the best I've ever seen.
