The ultimate performer. A voice for the ages. Sometimes I think back and realise that I didn’t recognise just how good he was. His ability to master any genre, and the power and range of his voice still deliver chills. Good on you Farnsey.

Me as well. I think we got spoiled growing up with his singing. Wasn't till later years, and seeing him perform live, that my appreciation grew 1000 fold.

I've seen him live 5 times (including the duet with Jimmy). And even I didn't realise his versatility.

John was about 54 here and as you can see his voice was better than ever. He really is the GOAT. This performance gives me chills and I’ve watched it so many times.❤️

John Farnham has one of the Best singing voices in the world. He is Phenomenal. On top of that he is a Sincerely nice man. A good bloke. I have loved him since he was 'Johnny Farnham' on Bandstand singing 'Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head' and 'Sadie, the Cleaning Lady'.

JF is around 50 here and still sounding amazing 💕💕 Gosh we love John here in Australia. 💕💕

He was 54 here and his voice was almost as powerful as it had been when he was younger. He was certainly pitch perfect. Best singer ever.

The song was written by Steve Prestwich, who was the drummer for Cold Chisel and recorded on their album Corcus Animals. Their original version, with vocals by Jimmy Barnes & Ian Moss, was great, but this rearrangement with John Farnham was superb.

John was the ultimate live act with top notch backing people and no need for gimmicks. I am always blown away by his masterful mike technique. Get well soon, John.

100% on his mike technique. He's almost 'self mixing'! You can even see during duets he pulls it away even further so as not to not 'overpower' who he's singing with. A compete master of his craft.

Thank you so much for reacting to one of his best live performence. His voice is from another planet. I love everything about this. He was 53yo at the time. Just amazing.

He really does justice to this Chisel masterpiece. I'm blown away!!

I am so privileged to have had the ultimate, pleasure of listening to John most of my life. He has been entertaining us in Australia since the 60's.

I can't express how much I love your reactions my friend. Thank you for responding to me and your kind words. When John and Jimmy sang it together it was sung up tempo rock performance. But this one is from his heart and soul. I still relate it to soldiers who are waiting to go home from their tour of duty and hope that they can live a normal life. Each solider would be fearful of getting blown away before they could return to loved ones. Slowed down and given such an emotional performance, John just is a powerhouse performer. Danielle's mum was one of the dancers on the original Sadie video..and was preggers at the time probably 1967 so quite a while before he met Jill

Danielles Mum was Jan..and she was pregnant when she did the backup dancing for Sadie. She was married to Danielle and Eden's father then, For many decades she has been married to Graham Scott..son of my Aunty Vick and Uncle Dan. The other dancer was Denise Drysdale.

One of my two top Farnsey songs the other being COOL CHANGE , both tribute covers performed originally by other famous Australian singers but both sung memorably better by John who was mates with both original artists .

I still have all his vinyl records and CDs! most are from the 70s and 80s

John was born in 1949.. Yes that makes him 54 in this performance. His voice remained stunningly strong and clear right into his middle sixties, even then he could make you cry. This song, first recorded by Cold Chisel an iconic Australian band, is loved for its lament on loss and devotion.

Jillian was not his 'childhood sweetheart', they met during his Pippin days. She was a dancer. They both married in their mid 20's.

Why does every reactor choose the 2003 version of this song when the late 80s version is infinitely better??
