He's huge in Australia, he IS the Voice of Australia. He always beats on his mic stands, I think they are industrial strength! LOL When he throws them and catches them, that's so cool live - seen him 6 times live, mum out does me having seen him 7 times live. LOL

Tommy sure does a great cover of this iconic song. It's a difficult song to sing. However No one, but no one, can sing it as good as John Farnham. It's an Anthem in Australia and when John sings it you believe every single word. But cudos to Tommy for keeping it alive today and reminding people where it came from. I hope you will react to more John Farnham his power house voice and versatility will blow you away ❤

John is an Aussie legend, icon and one of the best voices in Australia & in fact the world.. no one has his range, if you watch closely he holds the microphone a long way from his mouth coz his voice is that powerful... You need to react to john's version of Help! (Beatles song) from the same concert.. John isn't just very good he's amazing!!! All Aussies my age grew up with John..

He is very versatile.....any live performance with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra ( MSO ) is gold...... especially his cover of the AC / DC anthem, Long Way To The Top or his warm up song, audio only..... Led Zeppelins Black Dog. Also his soul duet with Jimmy Barnes..... a brilliant cover of Sam n Dave’s When Something is Wrong With My Baby..... Or Gethsemane

Oh boy! You sure want to listen to John warming up, with Black Dog. John Farnham is a national treasure in Australia, and much loved here in New Zealand :) He's an incredibly gifted singer with a very powerful sound - just look how far out he holds the mic and the sound never fades. He is well know for his antics with the mic stand, he's pretty clever with that too :) He has fantastic charisma, good looks, and he loves his fans :) with amazing audience engagement. Glad you enjoyed this track. He's also very versatile, being able to switch between genres at will. His version of Help by the Beatles is also well worth a watch!

Don't forget Celine Dion has sung it many times. Including once with John in Melbourne when he was about 69 years old. He still sang in the same key with all the same power, even startling Celine with one of the big notes he hit! Celine was definitely star struck and living out one of her childhood dreams of singing with 'The Voice'.

Whenever watching John Farnham live, you have to watch the mike stand and Mike tricks. Just after the bagpipes in this he throws the mike stand in the air, catches it and then throws it across the stage. He later flicks it up with his foot and catches it

From one old roadie to another, he is a great bloke, everyone I knew who worked on his crew loved him. Only ever worked on the same bill as him twice. Partied in the same hotel after the gig. Nice down to earth man. Easy to do monitors for I've been told. His cigarette addiction has cost him, mouth and throat cancer.

Nice reaction. Noticed your Beatles poster behind you. John Farnham's cover of the Beatles Help at this same concert. He's slowed it down. As others wrote - he can sing anything. When he sings with Jimmy Barnes two powerful singers - perfection. Yes John does like throwing his mic stand around. Off to listen to Tommy's cover of this...

John has a penchant for playing with the 'mic' stand, and he says his wife has repeatedly told not to! Watch out for his anticsjust after the playing of the bagpipes(it is sacrilege to not have them accompany this song); firstly he tosses it into the air like a baton then catching it before tossing it across the stage, afterwards flicking it up with his foot. It's just about a trademark.

I give newbies a cut and paste about John, and his songs with ONJ and Jimmy Barnes. Here it is:- INFO ON JOHN FARNHAM AND JIMMY BARNES .. AND ADDITIONAL INXS/JIMMY BARNES SONG. Started in 1967 with SADIE THE CLEANING LADY kzread.info/dash/bejne/l46ZtM-ppqbQddo.html and went on from there. Close friend of Olivia Newton John who he worked with in Australia from time to time. This is a great one from the same concert too: IT'S A LONG WAY TO THE TOP IF YOU WANT TO ROCK N ROLL kzread.info/dash/bejne/aWeMwdyYqrqag8o.html Also same concert: YOU’RE THE VOICE kzread.info/dash/bejne/aKFmz8FyhczQo9I.html HELP (Beatles) kzread.info/dash/bejne/lqpplsmif7a4e9Y.html Also sang DARE TO DREAM from Sydney 2000 Olympic Opening Ceremony with ONJ - kzread.info/dash/bejne/gKt9yM-MXbPTnA.html (note you may need to alter a VPN setting to Australia to see that). This is good too - the 2.5 hr concert with ONJ and our Phantom from Phantom of the Opera (Anthony Warlow):- THE MAIN EVENT kzread.info/dash/bejne/o5hht7WKdMiflMo.html With Jimmy Barnes WHEN SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY BABY (concert version with Diesel) kzread.info/dash/bejne/c4mTxKWcmKe9dpc.html Same song, studio version in restaurant with Diesel: kzread.info/dash/bejne/m5ynyNpqfNjVe8Y.html A bit on John - Born in the UK in 1949, came out when 10 to Melbourne Victoria, Australia. Same sort of history as Olivia Newton John, who was born in the UK in 1948 and came out when 5 to Melbourne. Both worked in the industry in Melbourne in the 1960's and eventually Olivia ended up back in the UK and then the US. John became the King of Pop with the 1967 hit ‘Sadie the Cleaning Lady.’ John had his chances to work in the US but wanted to live in Australia. He is now in his 70's and sadly went through a 12 hour operation for throat cancer losing part of his jaw back about the same time his dear friend Olivia died in August 2022. Jimmy Barnes was born April, 28 1956 in Glasgow, Scotland. His original name was 'James Dixon Swan' and his father was a featherweight boxing champion in Glasgow. In 1961/62 his family moved to Australia. After playing in a school band (he replaced Bon Scott (who joined AC/DC) as lead vocalist in the band Fraternity. Then, aged 16 and a half, he joined Cold Chisel in 1973. First they played the pubs of Adelaide, then they played the pubs of Australia and finally they got a record contract in 1976. Now, Cold Chisel are Australian history - one of the best bands Australia ever had. They split up in 1983 because they thought they weren't playing good music anymore and they didn't want to rip their fans off with another album. Here's another jam with Jimmy Barnes and the late Michael Hutchence INXS 'Good Times' Live kzread.info/dash/bejne/hp2h2q6Ih5yYYtI.html

Tommy does a good cover with his voice and a few instruments but John gives an even better one live, in front of the MSO and also his band, no comparison really! Must say that Tommy’s version was better than Robbie Williams but not as good as Delta Goodrem.
