This concert was brilliant and Help was the encore, his previous song was ac/dc it’s a long way to the top. When John performs the audience becomes a part of the act, THE Silence is the people taking in the performance, this man so loved and respected in Aussie. The thing about John no matter what his range you can still hear every lyric. The more reactions you do the more you’ll realise, why we believe he’s the G.O.A.T. Greatest performer and brings the audience along with him

It was actually a Beatles cover, but who cares? That just goes to show that you're being honest and haven't done any research beforehand. John absolutely valued the original with this breathtaking performance. I didn't recognize it at first either because he slowed it down so much and it sounds so different, but I was able to catch a few snippets of the lyrics. He gave the song an even more poignant feel. Oh my goodness, what a voice 😱. With this orchestra at his side, his voice gets to shine even more. I never realized that. No wonder he was able to captivate and engage the crowd like this. And yes "give it a share" 😉 with someone who likes and appreciates music is the best thing to do - thanks HAP 🥰🙋🏻‍♀️.

I laughed when 'I've been corrected' came up on the screen.... yes, this is The Beatles song 'Help'...... John Lennon actually got to hear Farnsies version when it was released in early 1980 before Lennon unfortunately was murdered in Dec 1980. And John Lennon said that this was how he had wanted to perfom this song.... but record labels/producers etc. made The Beatles do an upbeat version....... this is our John Farnham... and he will be known forever..... he was still performing in his 70's before his cancer diagnosis.... which we are all praying he get's through and comes back from xx.... we looooove him.... he is also a really humble man....

John had a down time in his earlier career when things were not going so well for him regarding his career and finances. He took on a new management and a new direction and his career sky-rocketed. He's been a shiny, sparkly star ever since. This song is one of appreciation for that help, from management, the music industry and the support and love of his family, friends and especially his fans who never gave up on him, I believe.

It is the Bealtes original song HELP being tweaked - he never claimed to pwn this song. Or was chased for it - he changed the feel of the song to be more personal and yes, less jolly - and the times he got the audience to sing - they were actually lending him HELP. Which is why he thanked them for 'helping;'

Another Great reaction to our Aussie Favourite. THANKYOU. Now that you know the history of the song to give you some more perspective on John, who took this classic Beatles song and and reworked it with his own arrangement and made it his own till it was almost unrecognisable. Just shows what a great musician he is. He originally released this in 1980 when he was almost down and out after his original meteoric rise as a teen Pop Idol, in the late sixties and early seventies. He struggled for a while during the late 70's when the music scene changed and he became a bit old fashioned for a while. He couldn't catch a break and this song really was a cry for help at the time. He went from this in 1982 to be the lead singer of LIttle River Band for 5 years which helped to jump start his Solo career again in 87 with the Whispering Jack Album and once again became the most popular performer in Australia. But this time it stuck and he has been on top ever since.

When John is on Australian’s arrive. I have probably watched him do this song 60 times and I still have to stop. That was John teaching the Beatles how they should have sung it and John Lennon agreed. I think a lot of big names were glad he stayed here at home and they all worried he would make a cover of their hits. There is no genre he cannot sing even opera. He is such a gift. John and my husband both came from England when they were 10 years old. Sometime in the 80’s John became a Citizen really fast because he found out he was going to be Australian of the year. Like my husband he just thought he was an Aussie. Mel Gibson came from America as a child and went to school here. His father Hutton Gibson was on and won Sale Of The Century. He came back and played against other champions. He had a heap of children and always talked about a back injury. Mel went to our top Acting School, NIDA. A few years ago he rebuilt it much bigger and he still comes home and funds that school. All of our Australian’s still come home or just stay home. Thank you for John. Listen to him sing Led Zeppelin’s Black Dog. John never recorded it but someone did. He uses it for sound check and warm up and you will only find a photo of him singing it. Really worth hearing. He has one of the best voices in the world.

Robbie Williams did a dedication to John Farnham by singing “You’re The Voice” to and with the crowd of 100,024 at the Aussie Rules Grand Final back in September (just three months ago). This rendition with a large part of the crowd singing along with Robbie is on KZread. I think it demonstrates how much of a legend John is. The last live performance I found for John on KZread was in April 2021 at what is called the “Hay Mate” concert. His set of some of his hits sung as a near on 72 year old in oppressive heat with a crowd of people of all ages is amazing. Of course John’s singing of “You’re The Voice” at the “Hay Mate” concert included two bag pipes. I bet the pipers were sweating heaps in their kilts.

Respectfully disagree. It was You're The Voice that relaunched his career - he was near broke and not being played on the radio until Whispering Jack. Help came along before that but didn't hit the heights until he started to perform it at his now huge concerts. Just like some of his older songs - Comic conversation, One, Please Don't Ask Me. John has given us so many hits across decades, it's a pure delight to listen to any of them.

So, she said "Well, you have to hear this one" and showed me this performance. I was impressed by John Farnham's voice, the unique way he delivered a well known song and how he interacts with his audience. Your reactions wouldn't be authentic and real without some (little) mistakes so should be disregarded. They are perfect imperfections to your reactions 🙂 Nobody knows everything anyway and we should let the Music Do the Talking, as you keep saying.

Hap, that was a very insightful comment you made about the request for help and bringing mental health to the forefront back then, when it just wasn’t the done thing. This morning, my 37 year-old son took me to the cinema to see the John Farnham documentary. I won't go into it too much, except to say I cried through a lot of it. John worked on this song through a dark period in his life when he could not get his career to move forward after the Sadie era. He was depressed and he played with the song on his piano. It makes so much more sense now when I listen to it that all of the struggles and depression he went through back then, he has put into this song. It is no wonder we feel such emotion from his performance. God bless John, our Voice for more than 50 years and we as a nation will keep listening to his music for another 50 years.

John Farnham first performed his version back in about 1974, at a Royal Variety Performance in front of Queen Elizabeth. The Best ever Male vocalist from popular music. I was 15 when he released this song here in Australia. I thought he was a female singer and Black as well. He blew my mind all his hit's He would warm his vocals with Zeppelin covers he nailed it. He sung with Ray Charles,Celine Dion and Olivia Newton John . Performed with Brain May it says it all . A GOAT, Legend.

This was the end of a two hour set, at a time he was smoking two packs a day. It's an arrangement of the Beatles song. Paul McCartney has said that they wanted to do it as a ballad but they ran out of time making Help! the movie. It was originally released by John in 1980 and was his first single after effectively being written off by the Australian music industry in part due to his history in musical theatre and his past as a scmaltzy pop singer in the 60s and 70s ( Do a search for Sadie the Cleaning Lady). His 1980 clip of Help is still on KZread.

It's actually The Beatles' song Help (the lyrics are the same), but it's his own arrangement. John Farnham is one of Australia's greatest ever singers & performers. Right up there with the world's best, for sure. Choose any of his live videos, you won't be disappointed.

Would love you to react to my other "night of my life" concerts, which was The Main Event / John Farnham, Olivia Newton John and Anthony Warlow.....any of the songs from that concert are wonderful, so don't mind which one you react to......From this concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the opening song "See the Banners Fall"

@@HAP3SPEAKZ I sure was - I'm one of the privileged Aussie's who's been to see Farnsey 17 times live. John Farnham started in the 50s and in the 60s became Top Of The Pops here in Australia, my Nan loved him, and so did both my Aunts, who bought all his albums and posters etc, so I was born in the mid 60s, and born into a "Farnsey" family. My Nan (RIP) and Aunts took me to my first Farnsey concerts in the 70s, so I literally grew up a John Farnham fan. He's been a part of 5 generations of my family, and we all love him to bits. John is a legend like no other, he is an honest to goodness " generous, humble and caring" human being, who's given a lot back to our country when ever he's been needed - He's just a wonderful human being through and through, without any facade

This is the Beatles original, but of course Farnsie makes it thoroughly his own! I heard that one of the Beatles; Lennon? contacted John and told him this version was better than theirs! Wonderful if true. Of course we think so anyway. 😄 Plenty more in the Farnham song book. John is a great songwriter and musical arranger as well. 'Burn For You', a ballad he wrote for his wife, is particularly beautiful. You also need to hear John & Jimmy Barnes' live version of " If Something is Wrong With My Baby" . The Music Videos are great but John always brings that special something to his live performances that kicks it up from great to spectacular! 😂 Enjoy.

I can't believe you didn't recognise this song as the BEATLES composition from the early 60s considering you mentioned it in your introduction . John Lennon said this was the way the song should have been sung by them but the faster version suited the movie .better . John Farnham (Farnsey as he is know to his Aussie fans is a living Australian national treasure , and youwould be doing yourself and your subscribers a favour by reacting to more of his playlist .
