I normally give new reactors to John a lot of info but it is on my other computer. Just to know a few links to get you going - he and Olivia Newton John were both very good friends. The did a 2.5 hr show called THE MAIN EVENT in Melbourne in the 1990s with another star called Anthony Warlow. Anthony was Australia's ''phantom'' in our musical version of Phantom of the Opera. The link to this show and you will love it is: kzread.info/dash/bejne/o5hht7WKdMiflMo.html He and Livvie worked together again at the opening ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympics with the song DARE TO DREAM. Here is the link: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gKt9yM-MXbPTnJM.html Here is YOU'RE THE VOICE which is a song John is famous for at the same concert: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aKFmz8FyhczQo9I.html I love his rendition of ITS A LONG WAY TO THE TOP IF YOU WANT TO ROCK AND ROLL from AC/DC that John did at the end of this Melbourne concert: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nH9n0tl7YqnVpNI.html He started working as a singer at the age of 18 in 1967 with his then hit SADIE THE CLEANING LADY and has never been able to live that one down. Here is the show from then: kzread.info/dash/bejne/l46ZtM-ppqbQddo.html He was Australia's King of Pop and he often teamed with Jimmy Barnes who was our King of Rock and they did WHEN SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY BABY. Here is the link to that: kzread.info/dash/bejne/c4mTxKWcmKe9dpc.html There is a lot more, but that should keep you going for a while.

Welcome to the single greatest male vocalist you’d never heard of. John is an internationally renowned treasure, and we are so, so lucky as Australians to have grown up with him as the soundtrack to our lives. For the record, Lennon said of John’s rendition, “THAT is how this song should be sung”.

John first performed this arrangement in 1980. John Lennon heard it shortly before his death and commented that this was what he envisioned for the song, but the Beatles management forced it to be a peppy pop song. The performance you heard here was performed in 1989.

John Lennon said that at the time he wrote it, it was a cry for help, never meant to be a preppy, upbeat song. I saw a documentary where he sang a slow version of it with just the piano. He was in his New York apartment not long before he died.

Rumour possibly true that Elton John gave John Lennon a copy of John Farnham’s version of Help while he was making Double Fantasy with wife Yoko Ono. . Elton John is and was friends with both John’s . Elton was well aware of John Lennon being frustrated with his Beatles originals and was intrigued with other artists covering his Beatles work . Elton John also covered a Lennon Beatles song Lucy In The Sky at John Lennon’s request and blessing. John Farnham said in a interview that he did heard that John Lennon did listen to the rearrangement but unfortunately never got any feedback with the 5 months window between the singles release in July 1980 and Lennon’s tragic death December 1980

Thanks for a great reaction, John or The Voice as he’s known in Aussie and believed to be the G.OA.T , John made a decision many years ago to put his family first, To stay home preferring not to travel the world. He has performed with a lot of great singers who have come here. John is loved and respected in Aussie. If you continue down this rabbit hole you will discover why. The way he brings his Audience with him through his performances is a great example of what this man is about. The list of songs is too long to list however even opera, His performance of Jesus Christ Superstar is unmatched. His ballads,Rock AC/DC it’s a long way to the top with the MSO will have you out of your chair. The one I really like is Playing To Win he wrote himself, Burn For You he wrote when touring the country missing his Wife he wrote and performed the song. As I said the list is a mile long, The saying if you build it they will come, well if you react to this man Aussies will subscribe to your channel in no time. That’s when you will discover who The Voice is and why he’s loved and respected in this country. John in the last year os had a 11 hour operation on cancer to his Jaw, That Day every Australian took a deep breath, fortunately he’s recovering well although he may never sing again, his music will live forever in this country, The thing you will discover every lyric is clear and almost all his songs have a message, Your the Voice is his most famous you have probably heard it and not realised who the singer was. The important thing to remember his live performances are always the best way to go. I hope you continue reacting to John, Why does a 74 man love his music? Because he has a way of reaching inside you and touching your heart and soul and if you need that he will deliver.😊

Great reaction. John is a living legend in Australia. The more you react to him you will discover that he has an army of fans. (Actually known as the Farnsey army) and John himself is known as The Voice. Not only does he have 6 decades of number one hit songs and albums with his own original songs but he has the ability to completely change up the arrangement of covers and make them his own. Check out his cover of ACDC'S It's a Long way to the Top. Also check out his most well known and biggest hit You're the Voice. There's decades of great songs from, when he was a teenager in the 60's, to King of Pop in the 70's, to lead singer of the Little River Band in the 80's and Australia's most awarded contemporary solo artist from the late 80's through to the current day. He is now in his 70's and was still performing with all the same power and vocal range of his early days. Sadly he is now recovering from mouth cancer where part of his jaw was removed and reconstructed. He has recovered and now cancer free and his family say he can still sing, but he will probably never perform publicly again. ❤❤❤ You will discover that he is loved by Aussies of all generations and although not well known by many people outside of Australia (and also Europe), he is actually well known by many of the world's greatest performers like Queen, Celine Deon, Beatles, Tom Jones, and many others who all respect Farnham as one of the best vocalists ever in the world.❤❤

John Farnham is a British born Australian singer, arriving in Australia as a 10 year old with his family; at the age of 18 he became a teen pop idol in 1967, winning several TV WEEK King of Pop. He is the only Australian artist to have a number-one record album or single in five consecutive decades. He later became an adult contemporary artist, as he re-emerged on the music scene; he had the option of international exposure, but decided to stay in Australia for his family. Since then he has become an icon of the Australian music industry, earning the title of 'The Voice' following his first two contemporary albums; earning many awards for his albums and hit singles. Be careful, or you will find yourself in the rabbit-hole that is John Farnham. ENJOY

I forgot to mention that John Lennon from THE BEATLES saw this version and absolutely loved it. He said that he would have preferred their song to have been like this instead of the way they were forced to produce it. So it is nice to know that John got to hear his song this way from one of our biggest stars. John Farnham did tour with THE LITTLE RIVER BAND in America when the lead singer left but that was for a short lived time. He preferred to live in Australia. He was raising 2 boys down there. That is why you don't really know of him. But ask an Australian - any Australian - they ALL know him.

Thanks for this. John has an amazing catalogue from more than 50 years of hits in a whole bunch of different genres, but this is one of my personal favourites. If you follow him down the rabbit hole, you'll see the phrase "John can sing ANYTHING" pretty often in the comments because it's true. The reason you didn't hear of him before is that he's very much a family man, despite being a superstar in Oz and Kiwiland. Apart from a short stint fronting Little River Band in 1980 (I think), he decided that his wife and family was more important to him than international fame and fortune and pretty much restricted his touring to Australia and New Zealand. Just a helluva nice guy who loves his fans as much as we love him. That affable smile at the opening of this number is genuine. This is an encore, so he's already had a couple of hours of connection with the crowd.

I remember John when he was just a young teenage pop idol. He was always a great performer live and did stage and TV shows over the years finally touring in the USA in the 80’s with Little River Band and then launched his own solo career. John was close to 40 years old during this performance. He was born in 1949 I think and, for years now, semi retired (I say semi retired because he would be on stage as soon as a fund raiser was needed for struggling farmers, bush fire victims etc) and still able to hit those high notes right up until Covid. It was a shock to all his fans when he was diagnosed with cancer of the mouth and underwent extensive surgery and treatment. His family has announced that he is recovering well thank God. Loved your review and subscribed because you didn’t continually interrupt the performance and saved your review to the end.

You've got 6 decades of experience to investigate. He is an ICON in the Australian Music Industry. John Farnham started in 1967 and was still performing into his 70s until Covid shut the country down. He won "King of Pop" 5 consecutive years 69 -73, then faded a bit in the late 70s (due to poor management), then in the 80s his solo career took off again and his popularity soared and continues today. John is the only Australian artist to have a number-one record (album or single) in five consecutive decades. He has received the admiration of many international artists, such as Richard Marx, Celine Dion, Robbie Williams, Tom Jones, Freddie Mercury. Brian May, Sammy Davis Jnr, Ray Charles, just to name a few. I'll drop a few links to give you a taste and warn you if you start reacting to John, the Aussie Army will flood your channel. LOL if you decide to go exploring, make sure you only watch "Live" performances, he loves his fans and millions of us love him back. He is the most down to earth person, humble, funny and extremely talented. John is one of the most versatile vocalists you can find, he can sing just about any genre. He replaced Glen Sherrock as frontman for LRB for a time in the early eighties. This concert was advertised as John and his Big Band in typical Aussie understatement, it's a 100+ piece orchestra for crying out loud. lol This song is one of the last songs that he would sing at the end of the night after he had already sung his heart out for nearly 3 hours. Some have pointed out that this particular recording of the concert was closer to 2 hours of actual singing during the TV special, but it was also on the 4th or 5th night that he had sung like this. Either way, it was one of multiple nights that he did this on January 4-10, 1989, so his voice is still worthy of the accolades. Not many other singers can belt like that for even 2 or 3 nights without a rest. And besides picking at the exact details or this exact performance, Farnsey also has a way of getting deep into the emotions of your soul. A couple of songs worth checking have been mentioned below, plus these are worth a look also. The reason you haven't heard of him is because the US music industry is a closed little club. When John Farnham went to the US they didn't know which genre to put him in so his US promotions manager got him a couple of gigs in a little jazz club, where the MC introduced him as Jack Phantom. Couldn't even be bothered getting his name correct, so being a bit disheartened he wandered home to concentrate on his loyal fan base. The experience did give him inspiration to write a couple of good songs about missing his family, like this one. -Burn For You.. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZoSE2LGhgNbWdaQ.html -Angels.. Notice how he holds the mike below his chest, both mikes are a metre away, which he does all the time to not drown out the other singers. JF with Lisa Edwards, a top singer in her own right, and one of John's back up singers for 20+ years. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z5NmsKyLeceof5s.html -Amazing Grace.. To show the calibre of his other back up Singers, showing you have to be good in your own right, just like Lisa. This is Vanetta Fields and Lindsey Field. kzread.info/dash/bejne/kaxqsJttf6jRirQ.html -Please Don't Ask Me.. This one with Olivia Newton John, who we have recently lost. John has also had major cancer surgery including removal of part of his jaw and we may not hear him sing again. So let's enjoy this one as well.. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZKmKwdaTf6fMe5s.html -When Something Is Wrong With My Baby.... And even when he is singing with one of the most powerful voices on the planet, Jimmy Barnes, he still put the mike away from his face and closer to Jonny Diesel on guitar. kzread.info/dash/bejne/c4mTxKWcmKe9dpc.html Or this version. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hHWgqKqMgK-uoNI.html -When The War Is Over… Possibly one of his greatest vocals. kzread.info/dash/bejne/npqL1LqcZci0aMo.html -Or is the greatest. Gethsemane... kzread.info/dash/bejne/nWmr0a-TpKbSmKw.html -How about a mike test. He has the power and ability to distort microphones, amps, and get speaker stacks jumping. So this sort of setting up the venue test is a must. Lol Black Dog. kzread.info/dash/bejne/eGaNy5iNhsyTo7g.html Besides having the best voice ever, JF can adjust his tone, pitch, volume, to match the person he is singing with to either match them or sing just under them depending on who's the head line act, he will even back himself down when he is the head line to give others their moment to shine, and if my ears were sensitive enough, I wouldn't be surprised if he could vary his vibrato, timbre and all of those other things that voices can do so he could accentuate the other singers.

The Beatles wrote and recorded Help but John fixed it. If John made a cover it was always made his and better than the original because he can sing almost any genre naturally. There is no effort, just a love of performing. He had number 1 albums in 5 consecutive decades, even Michael Jackson couldn’t move him out of number 1 here on the charts. Richard Marx discovered him by accident years ago. He named John the greatest voice alive anywhere and he is right. Here he is called the Voice and he is loved. John’s story is a great one and on Video on KZread called Finding The Voice if you want to know more about him. In places it is hard to watch but you will understand more why he is so loved and how hard it was for him to sing his music and dress his way. The only cover I know that John didn’t change is Led Zeppelin’s Black Dog because he only used it for sound checks. He did go on to record sometime later and it isn’t easy to find a copy of that album. You will find it here but only in an audio version but you need to react to it and hear it. He does it better than Robert Plant. Thank you.

When reacting to John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes, Cold Chisel and Johnny Diesel they should be live performances as they are a show in themselves. More John songs Burn For You, It’s A Long Way To The Top, When The War Is Over, The Voice, Black Dog (Led Zeppelin cover), it's an audio only. He used it for mic check/ warm up song. Thank you to the audio tech who recorded it. Duets with Olivia Newton John, Anthony Warlow, Jimmy Barnes. Just a few to get you started. John is called The Voice. Sorry but weary is tired out, worn down to the bone. I think you mean wary, or suspicious, cautious. John Lennon heard this version, loved lt. He was quoted saying "he didn't like his version much," the producer didn't want a slower song on the record, they were forced to make it more fast and less meaning came through, it was meant to be more like this one.

Yes as you say Lennon actually wrote the song to be sung like this- he sang it in the back of a cab in London this slow- it was sped up by the producers to match the vibe of the movie. There’s a little clip out there of Lennon singing this slow and I believe that is what first inspired Deep Purple to slow it right down. Then later on, John Farnham of course.

It's very complicated with KZread, a bit random. For some people maybe there's no copyright issue watching that video but for me it was. I actually had to wait a month to publish this video but I'm glad it's out!

If your not a singer now your never going to be one and to let you know that was John's own arrangement of the song by the way John Lennon said that's how he heard the song in his head when he wrote it He did hear it before his death in 1980

You can't compare John to anyone he is unique and comparisons are totally embarrassing. He can sing anything, literally any genre. He sang Help the way it should have been produced in the first place as John Lennon told him. BTW he sang this at the end of a 2 hour concert as an encore. Try 'Your the Voice' from the same concert. I don't get why your vid has 'copyright vid' all over it, there are hundreds of 'clean' vids you could've chosen. Good try though, go down the John Farnham rabbit hole and you'll get loads of Aussie subscribers.
