Hi Roskoe, yes this song brought John back from the depths of depression after most radio stations refused to play his music...thinking he was still a 'novelty' singer which was thanks to his then deplorable manager. But Glen Wheatly took John under his management and the rest was history. Many overseas artist were asking John to appear on their concerts etc which he did for Celine Dion more than once lol. John has written his 'memoirs' whilst recovering and it should be out by the end of the year...I think it will be quite a read lol Hope you're well my friend.

Just love this man 💓 Here's a short set from 2018 on a Charity Fundraiser called "Hay Mate" for our drought-stricken farmers.... he was 69 at this time.. John always was doing Charity fundraisers, his last performance was in 2020 & he still sounded great up until he had to stop due to the COVID shutdown. Over the past 4years, he lost his best friend and manager Glen Wheatley to COVID and then long time friend Oliva Newton John (a very sad time for him). In 2022, he was told he had Mouth Cancer. Even that couldn't stop him, he announced in Sept 23, that he is now Cancer Free. At an interview with his son Robert, they asked if John will tour again, Robert said he wouldn't put it past him. He was already singing around the house (even with his jaw being reconstructed after surgery to remove the tumor). Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dJhhrMurpb20YcY.html

I attended a Hay Mate concert; John was brilliant as usual, hitting all the high notes & interacting with the crowd; I think he was 70 when I saw him.

Doesn't matter how old you are in Australia...everyone knows this song. John had been retired for a couple of years when Cold Play asked him to perform. He got such a buzz from seeing all the young people reacting to his performance that he came back out of retirement.❤

Hi Roskoe. It is the unofficial national anthem 😂🎉 Look at all those young people singing along to our Aussie G.O.A.T. Reminds me of the 110,000 young people he sang to in Germany in 1987 - you should check that one out some time. He sings HELP while playing the piano in that one too ❤😂🎉 I dont think John could sing that quietly - not this song anyway 😊😅❤

Love this performance, remember watching it live on tv! I was nervous the young crowd wouldn't appreciate John, but as you pointed out they were fully into it!! And again as you pointed out, when Chris Martin sung a few lines towards the end you could see why they brought John out right from the beginning... Chris wasn't up to singing this song! But well played to Chris and Coldplay for letting John shine! In fairness to Chris, not his style at all so not having ago at him...well not really 😂
