I’m always willing to widen my knowledge with more experienced mechanics. I’d like to watch a tear down thanks Mower Medic
Yes, do the autopsy on the trans.
I had an X-300 for two years and I always blew compressed air in and around the cooling fan cuz it doesn’t take very many grass clippings to clog up and prevent the very important cooling of transmission. Parts counter guy at the local JD Stealership told me that and it seemed to work cuz I never had a transmission failure issue.
Love to see a tear down!!!
love to see a tear down.
YES...lets see a teardown!!!
Just this morning I helped my neighbor pick up his similar John Deere riding mower from the JD dealership, and the problem, which was very difficult (3 trips) for the "professionals" to diagnose, was the pulley on top of the transmission. Before all was said and done, my neighbor spent around $1,000 for the repair. That said, any new riding mower will set you back a minimum of $2,000, so repairing an old mower is a tough call to make when the motor is running strong.

Yes pulley splines can strip
I would like to see you go through it and rebuild if possible.
Yes, please do a tear down. My John deer tran popped and I opened up to find all kinds of broken parts.. cheaper to buy new trans than buy all components.😢
Yes! Let's see the teardown.
Your video and instructions saved me a lot of time and money--Thanks!
Yes!! Would definitely love to see how you rebuild the trans.
Go for it!!!❤
Yes I'd love to see a rebuild!! Thanks
Hell yea rip it apart,I have the x350,,4 years now,,might be something I'll be looking at in a few years
Jeremy here at EP we have had a few of the residential John Deere riders with transmission failures and have sold them for our customers for $550 since they did not want to spend the money on a repair or transmission replacement. Funny that 725 was written on the dash wondering if those are the hours since a dealer told us these John Deere residential mowers fail at 750 to 785 maximum hours and have seen many that only last 370 hours at the minimum end. If the customer allows i would love to see what exactly failed, it would make a great video follow up.

Hello Jeremy. Just wondering EP stands for El Paso, Tx
Yes, I’d like to see that.
Heck yeah!!! It would be very informative to see the innards of the trans.
Yes would love to see it
yes!
I would love to see it
Yes
Yes, please do a tear down & rebuild
Yes would like to see what happened.
Yea I’d like to see that video👍
Yes , do it
I'd love to see it. You'll probably get lots of views.
Yes please do a tear down!

Yes, disassemblw/
Yes. Please do the tear down video.
I’d love to see a rebuild. We just stripped one to replace the shaft, but have not seen a recondition, or what can go wrong.
i am curous to know if its low on hydrostatic fluid
Definitely would like to see a rebuild
Mine with a K46 did the same thing after 240hrs. Pretty uneven 1.25 acre terrain with a few short, steep slopes. I was surprised how many people wanted it when I posted on FB Marketplace and who knew about the issue. People try to replace the fluid or change to another transaxle all the time for fun. Not my cup of tea. Sold, and then bought the lowest price model with a K58 and we'll see how that does. So far, so good. Fast as a race car.

I've mowed a lot of acreage on our farm for many years. Started out with a new Craftsman LT1000 with a 42" deck and 18.5 B&S. For a $999 machine new from Sears, it lasted for years. I actually still have it in the pole barn as a back up. As years went by, I 'reclaimed' a lot more yard to mow. I started mowing around my pond, one pass inside and outside the fence line of our horse pasture. I soon found I was mowing for 4 to 5 hours a week! Time for a bigger mowing deck. The days of the new $999 special at Sears were long gone by now. I bought a Husqvarna LGT2654 new from a local dealer. It was my first 'hydrostatic' (K46 Tuff Torq) rider. I loved the time it saved me. I have too many banks and hills to warrant a Zero-Turn style mower. Well, after a few years, those banks and hills took their toll on that K46. I followed several video how too's and dropped the complete rear end, changed the fluid out. I had to order and wait for a new cap. Finally got it put back together and it really didn't drive any better. Still slow up any kind of hill. Gets worse as it gets warmed up. I used it once for the first mowing this year, and parked it half way through the job. I got on a 46" MTD/Yardman similar to my LT1000. Good ol' trusty belt driven rear! I think I'm done with these hydrostatic mowers. I've built up a collection of similar MTD riders with 38" 42" and 46" decks. I've got 6 of them that all run, 2 spare B&S engines and a spare 42" deck. My kids are old enough to tandem mow right behind me now!
I have a tuff torque 400 in my Spartan, haven’t seen any videos on it yet. Hope it holds up.
Yes yes yes. Tear it down man!!!
Heck yes open it up👍
Yes Teardown!
Yes,Please rebuild transmission.
Yea, tear it down that would be interesting!
I would love to see a tear down !!!
Yes please
I would like to see the tear down and repair. I do know that Tuff Torq are good folks if you need to talk to them. I did my K66 oil change and was not able to get the same volume of oil back in that I had drained. They said to give it over night as there is a port between the gear and motor sections of the transmission.
Take it odd mower, do a evaluation, quote oner repair and replace estimates, and we will enjoy seeing either option they choose.
Help Yeah 👍👍
How many hours are on it Jeramy?
I had a tuff torque 55 open a few yrs back junk
Do it !! Let’s see
Why i chose a 6 speed peerless gear drive as my first machine. Also steep hills. Not really safe to be honest. Gotta be careful. But a hydro would already have been acting up.
The x300 was sold to as a mower designed to cut 10 acres 13 years ago. I cut about half an acre of grass twice a week per season. Before you tear into that transmission I’d change the pulley above the transmission. They tend to get stripped out. Only cost you about 30 bucks to try.

Don’t need to Try. I know the trans is bad
Well, as soon as you said it slows down I thought... Same thing I had..?? Have a 2011 X300R ( rear baggr) Did same thing. Was no fluid in top tank. Went to JD dealer and wandered into mower shop. Nice guy told me there is a fix not many know about. The top plug next to the hold tank tube on some units crack and lets fluid drain out. He showed me the number, got the seal and bingo. Filled it up. Research on Tuff Torque website shows to use Synthetic 20w-50 motor oil...(?) Also there is no easy drain plug. Tuff Torque research showed the correct place to drill n tap for a pipe plug so as to drain the unit, change oil periodically. It fixed mine..!

Steve Hinton where on the Tuff Torq website did you find the 20w-50 oil information?
More medic what are you doing okay we haven't seen you lately on KZread channel hope you're doing okay and God's love and blessings upon you videos okay
Did you end up making a video of the rebuild?
I would
I would like to see it,but they need to upgrade to a commercial mower!
Crikey! Your pretty rough on the forward reverse action :o
Do a transmission tear down.. I'd like to see if it's the transmission
I have a X350, I would really like to see what happened.
Yes, tear it down, many thanks.
its a k46 tough torque, just replace, they are only meant for level ground mowing, hills will kill them quickly
Granted that's a good bit too cut twice a week but I would think it capable enough with proper maintenance
Do a rebuild ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Do the repair. We need to see the fix for this. I have an LA150 54" and it has exactly the same problem. It starts working fine and within 100 yards it stops dead. If I get off of the Machine and push the go pedal by hand the machine will still pull itself along with my pushing but will not pull with a rider. Fix it, good but, on the cheap parts and fluids.
Yes.... Please. Get your helper. I use a Turf Tiger, that's what they need.
Yes teardown
Just pulled one out and apart and springs failed in pump. Customer decided to scrap it.
Tear it down, replace filter and fluid. Might just work better. Just dis mine. Works like new. Btw there’s a new pleated filter design. Much better than screen.
@JM-yx1lm
Жыл бұрын
That's not gonna fix it. It's only a temporary fix. The problem is the center section and the cylinder gets scored up and leaks fluid . New fluid is good fluid but will breakdown pretty quick and the problem will be back
@robertm5967
Жыл бұрын
I agree that its only a short term fix. But my magnets were fairly clean and my screen filter was plugged with sludge. So my fingers are crossed that i may get a couple more years out of it. I used the tuff torque fluid as well.

@@robertm5967 maybe it had those floaters growing in it. Like a slime or something nasty.
Want to see the teardown
One of my Cub Cadets has the opposite problem where once you push the go pedal it doesn't release. Pulley stack?

Just stating facts
Go for a rebuild
Yes go ahead and tear it down. But tell the guys mowing the field they need a commercial mower, it will last longer and mow better
Love to see a teardown.
By chance does the x300 have the same trans as the x354 I can't seem to find a video on how to change the trans fluid.

You know we want to see you disect it... Lol
How many hours on it? And is this typical before tranny starts letting go?
on my x300 it will go foward but wont go in reverse until I reach down and pull up on the forward pedal it will back up

That's probably because your linkage came loose....Happen to mine!
Yes tear it down
It's the forks in the transmission are wore out. I fixed one about 25 years ago. I can draw a picture and show you what it looks like. It was only a $20.00 fix. Don't change the transmission.
Rebuild it! Let it live again with the heart transplant.
Change the v drive belt and the upper belt and the main crankshaft pully I am 100 sure that's your problem..

Where's the kid ? 😔 He's the star.
No don’t tear it down
People pay so much money for these x300 series tractors only for them to end up like this one, busted hood and broken transmissions. In this case you don’t get what you pay for.
Tear it down!!
Yes, we need to see the guts.
Autopsy might be needed.
Yeah. Do a tear down Jeremy.🔧👍🇬🇧
Tell the customer that mower isn't made for cutting grass at ball diamonds. Tell him what mower to buy for ball diamonds.
Rip it open doctor
dirty oil filter.
It’s just worn slap a$$ out. They got their money’s worth. Looks like they need a 930 for that.
