That was some impressive welding and forming. Nice work.

Thank you. Lots of work!
It's good practise when fitting tyres, to start fitting the tyre opposite the valve stem, and finishing at the valve, it'll give a little more slack in the tyre.. 😊👍
I’m telling you, your timing is perfect. I’m getting ready to do this on my 1948 Massey Harris 30. It will be my first attempt at repairing a blown out rim.

@@AntiqueCarsandStuff I appreciate you putting in the work and sharing it with others. I’ll definitely be referring back to this video for inspiration.
Thankyou very much for this video. I learned a lot. I especially liked your technique for final painting of the whole wheel. Have a good day.

My pleasure! Thanks.
Superb job, when I first saw the scale of the corrosion I thought there was no chance of effecting a repair, you could never get the wheel to hold air again, then I remembered that the wheels had inner tubes so I thought still no good as the rough surface would cut the tubes open and even if it didn’t the welded repairs would unbalance the wheels! Of course it’s a tractor with not a very high speed so the balance wouldn’t really matter. I was blown away with how you managed and the end results are superb. Well done you, I so look forward to the continuing story of the refurbishment ( not restoration) of the John Deere.

Thank you! I wasn't sure if that was even possible and I'm glad it's over. The only problem is I have to do all of that again on the other wheel. Ugh!
That’s quite a paint can shaker you have there !
Great content and editing as usual.

Holy moly, that was some fine work repairing that wheel. It looks great. I must be learning, I was saying to myself if I were doing it, I'd try this... and then you said and did the exact same thing. I'm really satisfied with my progress. You must be thoroughly satisfied. Heck you actually did the work. I'm lovin this project and your channel as a whole. Keep em comin. I'm rootin fer ya!

You are welcome and thanks for watching!
Excellent work!! Only thing I would add is that you should not dry mount the tire. There’s a solution made for that, kind of a soap. If you ever do an automobile tire, it’s entirely necessary. Although the bead appears to be set, it isn’t. At my first truck driving job, the tires (dry mounted) would explode after about 5000 miles. It happened to me with the front tire. Almost dangerous ride.

Thanks for the tip!
I'm a little concerned about handling the weight of those rear tractor wheels but you make it look pretty easy.

They are indeed heavy. I had to be mindful about how I was handling them.
Ball peen and needle scaler is good on rust too.
Dang I am running tires that look worse than the one you cut up 😂

It’s a factory single front wheel. 960-1. I use it a lot. Great tractor!
What’s the white vehicle ? Is it new to you. I haven’t seen that in your shed before this video.
