That deck underside is a perfect candidate for POR 15. POWER WASH, degrease it...wire brush on a drill then phosphoric acid soak it...let it dry. Brief rinse. POR 15 .. the paint will last maybe 200 hours of mowing..

Another option I've done on worn holes is weld up the worn area and re-drill/grind it. If you want to get real fancy (and you have access to stellite rod) is weld it with something harder than steel and it'll never wear out again.

Yes that is a GOOD option. I did think about doing that. The replacement grommets were so expensive I went the cheap route. There are also inserts that you can weld around and then do not need to drill. I took the easy route, which turned out to be good. I always like to get other peoples comments, so I can learn NEW methods I am not aware of.

@@gotdeeres There's always more than one way to skin a cat. Generally I prefer not to thin wall out the base material. You can also add weld material to the outside to maintain same wall thickness (if space allows) and then open up the hole. I've turned polyurethane on a lathe to make replacements with a bit more durometer than rubber.
