John Deere 2038R 100 Hour Review

That was a great review Joe!!! A few things. I'm not too proud to admit that I owned my 2025R for about a year before I realized that the fender lights swivel, as do the lights on my 2038R. Try it out, it makes those lights worth having, otherwise they are almost useless. I couldn't agree more with everything you said, for the frame size it's a lot of power. The rear hydraulics would be first on my list, the hydraulic top link is a real game changer for sure. And yes, my R1's are not friendly on my yard, especially spring and late fall, I will likely try out the R14 next time around. I personally like to see some reviews of the R14 with a few hundred hours on them, they are still fairly new. PS Tractor Time with Tim is forbidden language in my house, he has certainly cost a lot of us money. ; ) Lol

Thanks for the feedback! I’ll have to play with those lights for sure. Yep, every week I tell my wife something else we need and she tells me to stop watching 😀

I have R14's on my 2012 1023E... 440 or so hours, still holding up. I had to put tubes in some for punctures, but wear-wise, excellent. Lots of traction for my needs around the yard.

@@geo_walters That's good to hear, they will be my tire of choice when these R1's are worn out.

Nice video. You were in my random feed this AM. I have the 2021 JD2032R, essentially the exact same tractor without the turbo, all same capacities. Mine is equipped with the same loader and I have the 60D auto-connect mid mount mower and the 270B backhoe. I also noticed we are both in TN; my tractor came from Trigreen in Cookeville. I previously owner a Kubota BX24 with similar equipment. The kubota was way more precise when using the FEL and BH but, that’s the only advantage I notice. I’ve added 2 tool boxes I made from ammo cans as well as added LED task lighting front and rear and electronics control station. Love this tractor…

Very cool and thanks for watching! 2032 is an awesome machine for sure. I have a buddy that loves his. How do you like the 270B backhoe?

@@vikingtractor6065 I love mine, very strong but, like I mentioned, not as precise as the Kubota. Seems doing dual functions like a curl and lift is almost impossible to do with the FEL and is impossible with the BH. You have to move them independently but, that’s not a big issue. They are expensive but, after having had one for the past 17 years I knew they are well worth it.

Looking at this as a smaller compliment to my 5055e which is set up for heavier work but sometimes too big and tears stuff up with its r1 tires and weight.

You can get the radiator screen from a 3038e and it is a simple install on your 2038R

I just got a third function FROM JD. I didn’t want to go aftermarket and the plumbing from JD hydraulic is top notch.

Enjoyed the review! I'm about to pull the trigger on the same machine -- I'm getting a box blade and rotary cutter, and my wife has convinced me to go ahead and get the backhoe as well...will see how much I end up using that, but I'm sure it will be useful at times. The box blade was my main (near-term) reason for the tractor, since I've got about a half mile of gravel drive to maintain. I figure I'll use it for a while before deciding what other accessories I really want -- had gone back and forth about the 3rd function, as I'm pretty sure I'm going to want a grapple at some point, but had to prioritize for the initial purchase.

Thanks for watching! This machine and the box blade made redoing our gravel drive a real pleasure. It was fun too! I use the cutter more than any attachment, but would love to get a backhoe.

@@vikingtractor6065 we don't have any large fields, but some trails to maintain and brambles to control in some areas, so the cutter will probably be my #2 use.

Good video and review. I did not for the longest time know that the fender lights swivel. I have a whopping 65 hours on my 2032R, love it. The issues I have are like yours.. the key placement.. I just don't understand the location. I love your HD brush hog. Tell us more of the pros of it, besides a thicker steel... what made you get it over the standard model? I did replace my R4 tires with the R14T tires. Yes the guys still harping about the steel hoods need to move on, it's 2021. Good Works Tractors is a good channel to get hooked on.

I appreciate you watching! The MX5 is heavy duty as you know. My property needs a lot cleared out so I use it to cut down 1.5” - 2” saplings and it never quits or really taxes the tractor. It’s well built so it also offers piece of mind. Oh and I really like Good Works Tractors. 👍🏻

Great review. I live in Hazel Green, Al. I've been talking to Tri-Green in Fayetteville. i can't make up my mind if I want a 2038R or a 3039R. I want to get a tiller, bush hog, pallet forks an a brush crusher. Did you have to order your 2038R or did they have it in stock?
