John deere 2032r 2038r 270B backhoe another stump, rock surprise

Ойын-сауық

John deere 2032r 270b 16 inch bucket. Digging out another stump and flattening the small hill around it for easier mowing. Was surprised to find the old farmers rock pile underground.

Nice digging. Trees are nice, but in the wrong place, they can create future problems.

I have a 2007 John Deere 2305 which is a beast. Anyway I was using it to clear a lot that my wife and I bought next door. We took several good sized trees out but the first one was a big dead ash tree. It took me 2 days to dig that stump out and about 6 to get it burnt up. I switched to a different tactic on the rest of them, big and small. We tied off the trees as high up as we could to a block and tackle. Then I dug around the tree breaking roots as I went and then we used the weight of the tree pulling it down to pull stump and all at one shot. It worked really well. Then you just dispose of the stump. In my case I just dug the holes deeper and buried the stumps. Sorry that this is so long. By the way I really enjoyed the video.

Sounds like a good technique you had. Works well when the stumps are left tall i bet. Them ash i believe have some pretty good root systems.

@@AaronTurnwald Yeah, a couple of the root balls were about 8ft. across. It worked really well for me and saved a lot of work. And by the way, you used that thumb exactly the way I would have. It works great for the bigger stuff but it's not in your way when you're digging. 👍

Digging them out is always a little tougher than it looks. Like most tractor work, I enjoy doing it though

I have had similar problems. I think I would have just kept mowing over the stump or bought/rented a stump grinder!

@@AaronTurnwald Yes it is. My brother in law bought 10 acres last spring and I helped him clear up the area where he is building his house. Started with a 1.7 ton yanmar excavator and he finally bought a 5 ton Wacker neuson. I found it so much fun I even bought an RC excavator! 🤣😂

@mauiportal The stump grinder is actually digging out the dirt while you're grinding down the roots. It usually leaves a pretty big hole you fill back in with the shavings.

a farmer 120 years ago plowed a field and his son picked those rocks and they dropped them in a hole. A hole that took 3 days to dig. And to mark that spot, they planted a tree.

Im sure the farmer may have put the rocks there a long time ago, but the tree was a boxelder weed tree that couldnt have been any more than 30 years old. My house has been here longer than that.
