John Deere 1445 Tractor Rear Axle Repair - PT6

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video, I'm diving deep into the John Deere 1445 rear axle repair and sharing the steps you need to know for a successful fix.
Have you ever wondered about the intricate inner workings of your 4WD tractor's rear axle? Well, I'll uncover it all in this video, from the major components to the worn items and to the tools that are needed for this repair.
This rear axle can be found on other John Deere tractor models, and even though it is the rear axle on this machine, it will be the front axle on a conventional tractor. With that said, you can certainly use this video if you're looking for some tips or tricks for your upcoming repair.
If this video was helpful in any way, I'd appreciate it if you hit that like button and if you want to be one of the first to hear this engine run, be sure to subscribe!

Not only do people come to these videos to simply see interesting work, it is VERY possible that we are here because we also have a JD 1445, but do not have an Operator's Manual or Technical Manual. So instead of saying things like, "...the right torque." why would you not go ahead and say what that torque is? What viscosity oil goes in the differential? How much? The video quality is outstanding, but it seems like a missed opportunity to be a constantly visited channel for many companies.

A different project to what I normally watch but as ever very concise and informative video.

Thanks for tuning in, even though you don’t necessarily watch this type of content. I will be working on the R60/5 once I get my parts back from the machine shop. The engine needs to be done before I touch anything else…that‘s why it‘s a big hold-up😔 Regards Andreas

Hi there, I did not share specific information on how to do this in a video, but I shared some pictures on Instagram about this: instagram.com/workshoprebuild/p/CovOwy3SgG7/ Whichever side you need your seal replaced, you're going to have to remove half of the transaxle, directly on the housing. Everything slide off to the side if you remove all bolts. I would also recommend replacing the linkage seal while you're at it, because it's about $5 and if you don't replace it in the meantime it'll bite you in the near future (haha). I hope the pictures will help you out and if you need an exploded view of this assembly, check it out here: bitly.ws/3e5Lq Let me know if it works out for you. Regards Andreas

Hey mate, do you know off there's an easier way to remove the drive shaft from the front transmission to the rear than unbolting the entire rear diff? I just need to replace one of the protective rubber boots, but seems like I'll need to remove the exhaust and entire rear diff to get the shaft out...? Thanks for your help.

That‘s a great question. Have you tried to loosen off both u-joint yokes on the splined shafts, slide the driveshaft one way and remove the shaft? This is the only way it could work without removing any major components. If John Deere assembled the driveshaft before installing the front or rear axle, then you need to make some space somehow. The rear axle is easier to deal with, because it‘s lighter and it has fewer mounting points. Let me know what you figure out! Regards Andreas

Great work. Can you tell me or point me in the right direction to find if a 3NTV88 engine will work in a John Deere 3005 compact tractor? Thanks for your time and help in this matter. Have a good day and keep up the good work.

Thanks a lot! I'm not sure if it will fit, but you could probably make it fit. Here I found a website that shares both the Yanmar 3TNV82A engine sizes and Yanmar 3TNV88 engine sizes. You can compare the sizes given on this website to measure your block and see if something bigger will fit. I just cannot say it will fit, because I don't know much about your John Deere 3005 and how certain components are routed. Website for 3TNV88: engineswarehouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/3TNV82A-01-1024x732.png Website for 3TNV82A: engineswarehouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/3TNV88-01-1024x675.png I hope this helps. Regards Andreas

For anyone watching this because they need to carry out the repair - cross reference the JD bearings and seals to a quality bearing manufacturer. You'll save yourself a bucket of cash, and end up with the exact same parts. Don't get stung with the "JD Tax".

Great advice! The bearings are probably more expensive, but I found shaft seals to be priced cheaper by Deere than other online stores and industrial suppliers. Shipping prices have also gone up a lot in my area and I also have to see what makes more sense while purchasing. Thanks for your comment😃👍🏼👍🏼
