In his early years, Adams received a classical education and graduated from Harvard College at just 20 years old. He embarked on a successful legal career and gained prominence through his involvement in significant legal cases, including the Boston Massacre trials, where he defended British soldiers accused of murder.
Adams' decision to defend the accused soldiers showcased his unwavering dedication to justice and the principles of due process. He believed that a fair trial was essential for the credibility of the emerging American legal system, even in controversial cases.
As a Founding Father, Adams played a crucial role in the American Revolution, serving as a delegate to the Continental Congress and contributing to the drafting of the Declaration of Independence. His diplomatic skills were evident in his negotiations of critical treaties and alliances, including the Treaty of Paris in 1783, which ended the Revolutionary War.
Adams served as the nation's second President from 1797 to 1801, facing numerous challenges during his presidency, including diplomatic tensions with France and the controversial Alien and Sedition Acts. However, his accomplishments, such as preserving peace with France and strengthening the U.S. military, left a lasting impact on the young nation.
One of Adams' most significant contributions was overseeing a peaceful transition of power to Thomas Jefferson's Democratic-Republican administration in 1801, setting a precedent for future presidential transitions.
After leaving office, Adams retired to his farm in Quincy, Massachusetts, where he continued to correspond with fellow Founding Fathers, including his close friend Thomas Jefferson. John Adams is the founding father that I see myself in most. David Mcculloch's biography of him is stellar.

That's not a bad thing, i think as a person, few founding fathers have the integrity and moral fiber that John Adams possessed.

I am a fan of both. I think Samuel Adams was more of a firebrand, and so, especially during the revolution, his story is a bit more intense, but John Adams is obviously still quite interesting.

I'm a Thomas Jefferson fan... Adam's paid the ottoman pirates tribute... Jefferson stated millions in defense before a penny in tribute... thus running against Adams

I'm not one or the other, i appreciate things that both did for the nation that were very important, and also recognize things both did that i believe were not the best option for our young nation. However, it's really easy to armchair quarterback the situation now, hundreds of years after it happened.
