Awesome! One minor correction, Fushiguro is the name of Toji's wife, i.e. Megumi's mother. He took her name because he hated the Zenin clan for how they treated him due to his lack of cursed energy. This is also why, when he died, he told Gojo about Megumi, likely hoping he'd watch after him instead of the Zenin.

Correction to the correction (lol): Fushiguro is the name of Tsumiki's mom aka Toji's second wife not Megumi's mom. Toji married her a little before hidden inventory and took her name. As for Megumi's mom we don't know her name, the author always refers to her as Megu-mama. She died shortly after Megumi was born.

I hope you know that Toji doesn't love Tsumiki's mother, she'll never be like Megumi's mother, the only person to show him kindness and love, Toji loves her so fucking much and no other woman will ever be like her. But she died from childbirth and Toji couldn't handle her death at all, Toji probably really wanted to married Megumi's mother and change his last name to hers, so they can be together forever, but she died. Toji probably would have been a decent father if Megumi's mother was still alive.@@Huh-oh3mx

​​​@@Huh-oh3mxNo. Iirc, Megumi mama is the Fushiguro which Toji has taken (he uses his first wife's surname instead of zenin) before marrying Tsumiki's mom. Which is why both Tsumiki and Megumi shared the Fushiguro surname (from their dad-Toji). Also, Gege has called Megumi mama Mamaguro (mama + fushiguro).

5:59 It was a little unclear in the episode, but the manga chapter showed in more detail that Megumi broke Toji's footing by making his leading foot fall into a shadow.

The way Toji softened his voice, when he said "I'm glad". 😭

Here are some of the extra infos from the manga/author's q&a about Toji and his wife; and my thoughts about it because the more I think about it the more I just love his character: 1. Toji was tormented since he was young for having no cursed energy or techniques, being born in one of the three major clans, Zenin, meaning they have a tradition of every member of the family has to have sorcery ability, plus the conservative mindset of looking down upon each other by measuring strength, because they're one of the major clans so they tend to inherit the ideology of centuries/generations before as they pride themselves to be maintaining their names till the modern time. Hence the parenting of Toji, they made him a servant, tortured him, disowned him, etc. 2. Toji met his wife/Megumi's mom after leaving the Zenin clan, the only information about her (author calls her Mamaguro) was that's she's deceased, she stopped Toji from anihilating the clan when they did something (probably real bad) to interfere with both of their lives, and the author just casually added in the q&a that she was "the only one Toji gave himself wholly to". She helped calming him down from all the shitty childhood trauma too. He was actually ready to change and settle down with her but then she died and he falls down to the pit of bad old habits, or prbably worse. 3. He has many relationships with many women, going different places to stay at, hence there's Tsumiki (Megumi's sister) whose mom was someone he hooked up with. The thing with Tsumiki's mom is a little confusing bc we have to figure it out ourselves, but since the author calls Megumi's mom as "Mamaguro",so we can sort of safely say she's a Fushiguro, then Toji took her family name, and then marry with Tsumiki's mom (somehow? only speculation on how they would engage) and she took his Fushiguro name therefore Tsumiki's last name is also Fushiguro now. 4. You can say Maki had the same treatment as Toji due to how she and him are so alike. 5. He hates men and can't remember their names (or even bother to), probably due to the fact that Zenin is a male-dominant and mysogynistic clan so he was targeted by mostly men in that family. 6. Megumi was commonly used as a girl's name, it means "blessings", Toji gave that name to him. (He was his blessings) 7. Toji used to ask Shiukong, the guy in suit who he worked with back in the flashback arc, to take care of Megumi sometimes because he doesn't know how (freaked out, or emotionally stable as I see it that way) after his wife's death. They worked together for 10 years. Toji really shows that he is a case of ptsd tbh, he can't remember people's names, he talks himself down as having no ego or how he will never respect himself or anyone else. The memory of his son was blurry and it was Megumi drawing himself away from Toji, as Megumi couldn't even look at him in the eyes, almost fearing him. And that moment of memory, it's almost as if he was disappointed in himself and couldn't stay present mentally for Megumi, and ran away because he feared that he wouldn't be good enough, or hurt him, like he knows that and blocks that out, trying to find some old ways/thinking that get his mind from thinking about the subject and lose it. So when he sells his son to Naobito, he said "it'll be better for him because he has talent" as a plan to find Megumi a place to live that is in comparision, better than living with him. It's him running away from having his fear of mental instability, responsibilities,.. And almost forgot, when he thinks of his wife at his death door, he remembered her clearly, unlike the blurry memory of Megumi.

I agree with most everything you said, except Maki has it worse than Toji, because Maki’s a woman and a twin to boot. Twins are ill omens in jujutsu society, and like you said, the Zen’in clan is male dominated.

Megumi didnt name himself after Toji. The name “Fushiguro” is the last name of Megumi’s stepmother. Toji mentions during the flashback arc that he took the name of his second/current wife instead of using the Zenin name. Toji was just happy that Megumi having the last name of Fushiguro meant that Megumi was never sold to the Zenin and lived his own life

@@fayes.3538 He only did this due to it being easy to identify them. Its not her name. Remember, Tsumiki has that name and she is Megumi’s STEPSISTER. Plus, its made clear during Toji’s interaction with Shiu Kong that its his NEW wife’s name. 1. Shiu Kong knew of Megumi but had no clue Toji had this new name 2. Toji flat out stated “I got married and took my wife’s name” in response. Meaning he is talking about NOW 3. Again, Tsumiki’s last name is Fushiguro. Which makes it more clear that THATS the name he took from this new wife. Gege just calls Megumi’s mom that to make it easier to identify

So, to quickly give you some context, back in season 1, it was said by nanami, that mahito was more than likely born due to humanities hatred from themselves. All special cursed spirits are born of a great collective human fear, and that fear created mahito, and in just a few months, he was able to form a domain expansion during yuji and nanami jumping him, and then when he fought mechamaru, he is constantly evolving. As for the sukuna bit, all i can say is that due to his status, he validates the strong, even if he trash talks them, he still recognizes their strength.

Thanks, I couldn’t remember what Mahito was born from. Considering there’s no shortage of self hatred across humanity, especially nowadays, goodness, I’m scared to see what else is in store with him.

I love your reactions, not only you actually pay attention to the minor details but you fr feel whats going on as well as I do, Toji realizing he wasnt sold off to zenin made him smile and decided to end his rampage. This anime is one of the ones that are worth rewatching it from start since you get to understand power scaling and story much better, overall its my favorite at this moment.

Toji is Zen'in, Fushiguro is Megumis step moms name, Toji is glad the clan doesnt own Megumi.

No, Mamaguro is megumi's mom nickname from Gege himself. Mama + Fushiguro. Toji has used his first wife's name before marrying Tsumiki's mom.

@@fayes.3538 nah the og commentor is right. in hidden inventory mamagumi is already dead and toji tells shiu kong that he recently got married and took his wife's name; fushiguro. (he's already married to tsumiki's mom at this point). it also wouldnt make any sense for megumi to still be called fushiguro after his mom's death if it really was her name (since he lives with tsumiki and obviously doesnt remember his bio mom). short answer; fushiguro is tsumiki's mother's last name, not megumi's mother's.

About Mahito: if you remember, curses are born from the cursed energy and thus negative emotions of humans. Hanami, Dagon, and Jogo specifically are the representations of the fear of nature, water, and fire respectively. Mahito is the fear of humans. That's why he looks more humanoid than them, and a level more deranged. I'd say as far as curses go, he has the best potential

Crazy how when the toji vs megumi fight starts megumi goes to summon the demon dog but immediately switches to the fleeing hares from what i assume him realizing fighting toji head on is hopeless. He couldn't "visualize winning" so he got to stepping 🏃

We are 243 chapters deep in the manga and almost at the ending but still don't know what sukuna's technique is.

For the Mahito part, I think it’s referring to what he represents to humans as well as curses. His name means “true human” and he’s the opposite of Yuji who represents the best of humanity, like when Yuji told the grasshopper, “stop understanding humans.” And Yujis name means “unwavering humanity” and he’s obviously fighting to save people whereas mahito wants nothing but for all humans to die. And curses are born from humanity’s negative emotions and crave humanity’s end. Mahito is the best representative of what a curse is supposed to be, other than Sukuna. So I think that’s what the mirror/death thing meant but I’m pretty iffy on it.

In the manga they make a point toji became the sorcerer killer because the zenin clan killed his wife & her last wish was to protect their son. Also sakuna is pure power & evil but he still appreciates the strength of those that draw it out. Everything else will be answered eventually

Ngl i don't understand why people feel sad for Toji like this man was an absolute piece of shit, yes he cared for Megumi but he still abandoned and sold him like how i'm i supposed to feel bad for this man??

Toji was so tragic, such a tsundere bro. Then we have red light, green light Sukuna, just being a menace.

This will never make it in the show but there is a side manga chapter episode of toji growing up and yeah his life was worse than makis his dad was awful to him and his mom for having curse energy it was done by another artist but got full permission from the the guy writing and drawing jjk

Ik Toji is a cool character but I defo don't feel for him enough to get emotional, he wasn't a good guy at all😂
