Joey Sturgis asked me to write a Saosin song
Музыка
A couple weeks ago, I got an email from Joey Sturgis that was like "hey i like ur stuff, wanna try my new Howard Benson Vocal plugin?" I was like "ok" and he said (paraphrasing) "while you're test driving it, you should write a song that sounds kinda like one of your favourite bands a little bit" and now we're here. Hope you've enioyed my 'Saosin' song!

You know, this isn't my favorite kind of music but I can recognize skill when I see it; Todd is one of the most diversely skilled people I've seen on this platform without any question. And it's not just that he has a wide range of skills - it's that he has achieved a high level of mastery in each of them. Guitar Bass Drums Vocals Harsh vocals Audio production Video production Song writing Not to mention the fact that he's a creative genius and genuinely funny (have you turned on closed captions in any of his videos?) There are probably more skills than this that he's mastered and I'm simply not aware of them. Dude is a fucking one man army.

There are so many new bands that claim to have this style but it never hits. You my good sir have truly captured what it was like hearing a good song from that era!
Great job Todd, nailed this. I'm a huge saosin fan so this hits home.

Thanks Andrew 💙💙 I tried channeling a little bit of all their eras with this, while still being ‘me’ about it. Really happy you like how it turned out!
This is amazing. Im a 32 year old black woman and this takes me back to myspace era and beinf picked on for the emo on my ipod shuffle...only to find out a decade later the same ppl picking on me were secretly listening too!

Hey, thank you so so so much! Saosin / MySpace/Warped-era bands in general have remained the foundation of my taste in music, every song i write or cover ends up being a love letter to that scene hahaha. That’s so wack people ripped on you for listening to good music, but I’m glad you’re out here still enjoying the noise :)
One of the best musicians on youtube right now. Kills it song after song. Keep it up or start an awesome band. Either way I’m on board.

This is your masterpiece... I almost wish that Saosin released this as a comeback song, but super stoked for you and this further showcases your songwriting skills!

Thanks Tye! Saosin is one of, if not the, most influential forces in how I approach making music. Not just songwriting, but their DIY ethos as well (aside from the self titled). Real stoked you like this song 🙂
Todd.... Todd oh my god. I have lived a lie for ten fucking years now, I feel this echoing inside me. You're a marvel.
You nailed Saosin’s first EP drum mix. Heavy and full of fills. Their EP version of Bury Your Head is so fuckin good.
This took me straight back to 2006. How fantastic. Well done.
Todd Don't know if you will see this but I listen to your songs/ covers every day the fact that more people have not found your music is crazy to me hopefully one day you will get the number of listeners your songs/covers deserve P.s please make a album

I appreciate the crap outta you, thank you for letting me live in your ears 💙 i’m 100% gonna make an album :) you’re gonna see me upload to KZread less frequently for the next while, and it isn’t because i’m not making music. it’s because i’m working on making that album happen
As a huge Saosin fan the first 30 seconds of this gave me nerd chills. You totally nailed the drum sound of the EP as well as some of their really classic signature melodics, and I hear both Anthony and Cove in this performance. I think this sounds like ISOSG the most, definitely giving more Cove era to me. Like the abrupt ending rather than the repetitive and drawn out vocals at the end, cutting out for momentary vocal solos, the consistency of the performance of the chorus each time, and most of all, the fact that you could understand the lyrics 😂 And the lyrics were perfect also, introspective yet vague, lots of similes, themes on point, all it was missing was a weird metaphor about eyes 😂 Seriously, as a Saosin super fan I dig this so hard, you can really feel the care and effort that went into this. So thoughtful and well executed. This certainly made my night 👍
I've never listened to Saosin, but if they're anything like this they're probably worth my time...

Wow. Brilliant. Im a Saosin fan. I think I can hear a little "They perched on their Stilts..." in there. Not one of my favorite songs of their's but I hear a bit of that in the intro. You also did a little Anthony Green there. Nice. Great job👍👏

You're shaking like a nervous wreck I've watched you fall apart And feign that it's okay You're tracing out your next escape But it's too far too fall And you're about to break (I know you want to let go) And I'm afraid that I'm too late Nothing, forever: it's all that I know A feeling only I can understand A lie that I tell to myself I feel its grip around me again I'm begging for an answer 'Cause I'm done with everything I know Know this forever, you're never alone A feeling only I can understand You're better now, or so you think I've watched you force a smile And feign that you're okay You tend to dissociate It's like the world's a fog And you're lost in its haze (I know you want to let go) And I'm afraid that I'm too late Nothing, forever: it's all that I know A feeling only I can understand A lie that I tell to myself I feel its grip around me again I'm begging for an answer 'Cause I'm done with everything I know Know this forever, you're never alone A feeling only I can understand I feel like I am only days away from checking myself out I feel alive when I have one foot in the grave and I'm here now I feel an aching sense of nothingness and not a whole lot else I feel alone and I can't breathe Nothing, forever: it's all that I know A feeling only I can understand A lie that I tell to myself I feel its grip around me again I'm begging for an answer 'Cause I'm done with everything I know Know this forever, you're never alone A feeling only I can understand
