SOAD is a metal band, not emo at all. Their songs are about how the government and the media abuse their power to control us and how society suffers because of that and because of them. Chop Suey sort of argues that his suicide is self righteous given that many people say that it is a very egotistical thing to do.

Not a lot of people realize how emo the original actually is. It's a song about suicide and how people view it. It's a beautiful song when you can relate and to cover it as an emo style just does it so much freaking justice. Well played.

A friend of mine who dabbles as a musician once told me that a good cover shouldn't've just be an exact copy, that you should innovate on it, make it your own thing. This is the first time I ever understood what he meant by that. DAMN GOOD COVER!

When I first saw the title I thought it read “Chop Suey- But it’s super Mario emo”. I was confused, perplexed, and filled with excitement. So I must say, as phenomenal as this cover is, AND IT IS, I’m somehow disappointed that this doesn’t sound like what I thought it was going to, even though I have no idea what “super Mario emo” would sound like, and now I can’t stop thinking about what this song would sound like if it were what I thought it was.

I like how you borrowed from every aspect of emo and made the song like actually emo instead of what a lot of people who do this do. You have that classic midwest emo + melodic hardcore elements, the emo pop vocals, screams that sound a lot like Oli Sykes from Bring Me, and the good old fashion palm mutes. Every aspect of this is perfect

Just stumbled upon this absolute gem. First of all, i never expected Chop Suey to fit this style this much. Secondly, the production is amazing! And last but not least, i was so worried that the last chorus was gonna be lackluster due to how difficult it is to sing and convey the emotion and you DID NOT disappoint! I will never doubt you again Todd and you earned your self a new sub ❤

The amount of talent is one thing, but it's the incredible hard work and diligence that really shines through. The mixing was spot on all the way throughout!

I was waiting the whole song (which was wonderful) to hear that outro and you did not disappoint! Incredible work as always Todd. I’m also noticing you taking major leaps in both the audio and (especially) video production.

I love how the ending chorus wasn't changed at all cause it still fit perfectly in an emo track

I love the second verse. Reverting to the original pace and tone makes it feel much more impactful and emotional compared to the slower first verse. And the voice break on the keys was perfect.

One of my all time favourite songs, covered perfectly. Im learning drums so of course Chop Suey is right up there for songs I want to learn. But I now also want to learn THIS version too as the drum part looks super fun to play as well - and so clean and right!
