In the final segment of a five-part video interview with Joey DeFrancesco, the Philadelphia-born jazz organist talks about playing trumpet and also singing. The interview was taped during The Jazz Cruise 2013, on which DeFrancesco performed with his trio of guitarist Paul Bollenback and drummer Jeremy Thomas.

This guy's a BADASS on B3, and now on trumpet!...omg!
i was sure i had seen a video of Miles auditioning some young musicians and that Joey was the trumpeter who impressed him but i can't find this anywhere anymore. i loved both Jimmy Smith and MIles and think Joey is great.

It was Joey on piano. There were trumpet players but Joey and Christian Mcbride were in the house band. Interview is Miles with Bill Boggs!
So I went down the road and found a trumpet Same same
I like big men like him

Reports of his passing seem to point to overweight as a factor.
Joey can play well but his singing leave a lot to be desired.
