Like all "reporters," Skip has an agenda, and he will pick and choose "facts" to support that agenda. Skip is color guy, not an analyst (he never played any sport at a high, or even respectable level), so who cares what he thinks...

They always say "Can we see this/that play again?" They play it, but the TV audience never gets to see the video. Why?

Sorry Skip, but Saban actually complimented Tua for being able to keep his eyes down field on that first td throw, Saban's not uncomfortable with Tua's style of play, it's more that he's never had a qb this gifted at spinning the ball. So Nick is gonna keep harping on work ethic and not depending on talent alone. My problem with his handling of the qb thing, is that he never felt sorry for Blake Barnett when Hurts won the job, and anyone thinking they wouldn't have gone 26-2 with Barnett is just plain naive. They beat Clemson with Jake Coker throwing for 330 yards.

What a lot of people dont know is that Tua said he was leaving after last season, however when he got put in championships and performed well he stayed. So now Saban strings Hurts along to keep him there as the back up.

Nick should let him red-shirt and get his degree and that will allow him to transfer to another program and play

If you actually did research, the apology wasn't at the press conference. Coach Saban said that he called Maria and apologized in private.

I love Joel on this show. He actual acts like a human being. Admits when he is wrong, doesn't shy away from agreeing on flaws that whatever subject has. Meaning, he actually listens to other people's perspective. Unlike Skip, who, I'm pretty sure in his mind has never been wrong and refuses to hear a different side to any story.

Jalen Hurts graduates in December. His father said he would be at Alabama this season no matter what. Jalen told Saban to use him however he sees fit this season. Saban did what he did out of respect for what Jalen had done for the team . Those who know, offensive coaches wanted Saban to replace Jalen with Tua before the season started last year and various times throughout the year but he didn’t do it, because Jalen was 26-2 . Can you imagine if he had played Tua after what Jalen had done without the world realizing Tua was the better player ? They would have killed him. The way Saban handled this was perfect the media is just mad because he doesn’t jump and move according to their time frame and let them know what is going on. Everybody on that team knew before fall camp ended Tua was starting he just didn’t tell the media. Tua couldn’t simply outplay Jalen he had to also win the respect of his teammates as Jalen had done so that the players would be onboard and you don’t divide your team. Once Tua achieved that he was pronounced the starter to the team first and then the media.

As a diehard Bama fan Coach Saban has given Jalen Hurts full respect with an opportunity to win the team. Tua has earned the right to be the starter with his performance in practice and on the field. I love myself some Jalen Hurts and what he has done at Alabama. Jalen graduates in December 2018 and will be immediately eligible to transfer as a graduate transfer. He will have two years of eligibility remaining as long as he plays four games or less during the season. Coach Saban has not forgotten what Jalen has done and I expect him to play him in four games or less so he will not lose that one year and can transfer to another football program. The only other reason Coach Saban would exceed the four games would be if Tua was injured. I expect Coach Saban to start putting third QB Mack Jones in the game once Alabama is ahead. But for right now due to the unknowns I expect to see Jalen come in the game on mop up duty to remain focused and sharp. Roll Tide.

yeah I don't feel like Nick Sabans apology to the reporter was heartfelt enough, he should be fired and have his entire career ruined because of it.

I'm not from Mobile Alabama, but I've been there a few times. As a Bama fan from Thibodaux, La...which is 1 hour and 15mins away from Baton Rouge, La. I just don't like how they dogged this young man like they do. Racism still exist and we'll be foolish enough to believe that it doesn't. Several things you can't teach that this young man has already. He's respectful, he's poised and calm, and despite the hate he's receiving from the fans and the organization, he's clearly been the better man on and off the field period and that goes far beyond any records on a football field. He's a good football player, but a better person. Anybody else would've handled that in the wrong way, but this young man has all the tools that he need to be successful after Alabama, even if he leaves Alabama. That's the type of guy I would love to have on my team anytime.

I live in Tuscaloosa Alabama, these Bandwagon Bama fans are the ones all over the internet bashing Hurts, but forgot Tua actually threw a game ending interception against Georgia that got overturned and took a really bad sack holding onto the ball too long right before the touchdown pass in the championship game

@@151battousai if you'd ever been to a deep South state, you'd know how silly your question is. There is a lot of racism evident in that area, especially in black - white interactions.

When they play great defenses, passing the ball (Tua’s style) can result in more turnovers than running the ball (Jalen’s style). Also less time can run off the clock if the offense struggles. Don’t get me wrong, the ceiling for their team went up but there can be a down side.

Y’all missing it. Hurts was never transferring. He is 15 credits away from graduation. That’s 1 semester. For anybody who has been to college knows when you transfer school they might not take all your credits. If he was transferring it was gonna be after this season regardless. He was never leaving this season

To me this is a coward move by Saban. He knew Tua was going to be the starter all along and he didn't want to reveal it because he knew Hurts would transfer. Which leads me to believe he doesn't know what he has in Tua. Me personally I'm not sold on Tua, be patient and wait until he faces a good team which can prepare for him longer than a half.

They can prepare for tua a whole week and it wouldn’t matter. He can scan the field and use all his wide receivers , running back, and tight ends. To much for a defense to key on.

Saban did not treat hurts terrible. Tua earned the starting spot well before the NC out of respect for hurts he kept him starting until they were clearly going to lose to Georgia. Last minute he starts the better QB.

Tua knew exactly what he was doing when he threw that ball. He knew that DB had his back turned while the receiver was looking back at the QB

Jalen just transfer to UCLA already lol Chip Kelly needs a QB and Tua took your job just congratulate him and transfer.

You know Louisville is probably a considered a cupcake now since Lamar Jackson left. No disrespect but Louisville, Arkansas State, Citadel, La-Lafayette (soft schedule). At least Michigan played Notre Dame on the road, Alabama plays teams on neutral fields. LSU played Miami and brutal back to back conference games ahead.

We all kinda feel bad for Hurts, but he's just simply not as talented as Tua, who's a once in a long time talent. Saban is still being fair to both, but that's just how life works sometimes.

The real question is - when is Coach starting Matt Saracen?

Tua is a much much much better qb not even close..why is this even a debate? Hurts is a running back masquerading as a qb..this is like arguing kobe and jr smith who deserves to start

malcolm Burns That’s a dumb statement. This is college football. You must not watch many different college football teams. There are sooo many QBs like the one you described in the NCAA. Not many college QBs make the NFL. Jalen is still in the upper class of COLLEGE style QBs. Plenty of schools will want him to come play for them.

Can someone tell Skip and Shannon that Tuas play making ability on the first TD was not a random throw in the air but instead a perfectly timed throw because a split second too late and Tua would’ve gotten sacked, a split second too early, the receiver was still in the process of completing his route. So Tua had to throw the ball where the route would end relying on his receiver to get to the spot or else Tua would’ve gotten sacked. That’s what happens when you have a gifted thrower and by giving him more snaps in practice, he will make more of those timed plays as he gels with his receivers.
