Sometimes you need luck. The turning point was that Alabama TD that was almost a touchback which got the game closer at 21-14. Instead would have either stayed 21-7 or Georgia with momentum goes for the knockout punch to go up 24-7 or 28-7 at the half. Huge game changer. Also, Georgia got scared and conservative not even trying to get in FG range. They felt Bama inching closer and nervest got them. Just like the national championship game, the Bulldogs played not to lose instead of to win.

I root for UGA but it's nonsense to say that they deserve a spot over OU. If UGA wanted to go to the playoff, they should have played better against LSU. OU beat the only team that beat them. The entire schedule should matter in our playoff evaluation.

Other than the SEC the conference championship games were a joke. 5 loss Pitt, 4 loss Northwestern, 3 loss Texas and don't get me started on the Pac12. The only conference with a game worth watching, with the most on the line was the SEC. Everyone and their mum's were worried sick when Georgia was leading for the majority of that game. Had Georgia won, we most likely would have seen 2 SEC teams in the playoffs again.

We could go back and forth all day about who was more deserving for the 4th spot. Are you saying it was between OU and Ohio St? It's simple OUs loss to Texas was better than getting blown out by 29 by an unranked Purdue team...THE END. Lately Ohio State has been good for one blowout loss a year, and this year they escaped plenty of games by the skin of their teeth. Shouldn't have to come down to which team had the "better" loss but unfortunately it did.

The fake punt was absolutely a terrible call. However I'm not sure why he had the backup QB in for a certain amount of plays. In my eyes every time he came in it was a wasted play and a bit of a momentum killer. Fromm was playing lights out, probably the game of his life and you bring in Fields to hand off the ball...wasted plays...wasted plays!!

Check the record vs the SEC in bowl games, OU always shows up. Even in a loss to Georgia, it took 2OT to do it. OUs defense is used to seeing bigger WR's, and getting lit up. Is Bama used to offenses moving up and down the field on them?

Shawn Kemp luck isn’t continuously winning all these close games for the best part of a decade. Or was Alabama lucky the other night to? Oklahoma has made it out of one of the most entertaining and toughest conference to defend with one of the worst defenses. That speaks volumes to this team. Beating Texas, West Virginia, OSU in our rivalry game, Iowa state which is a great team. And army who shouldve been given the respect of a top 25 team by now.

Shawn Kemp Ohio State almost lost to Nebraska, Minnesota, MSU, and Marlyland. Then lost by 30 to Purdue. Regardless of your POS coach and the scandal, your team was by far and away the worse team due to too many inconsistencies. Oklahoma’s offense always showed up, the same can’t be said for Ohio State. Win the games you’re supposed to and you’d be in.

They choked away a game in which Bama played far and away their worst football of the year and previously got blown out by an offensively-inept LSU team that could barely beat zero-conference-win Arkansas. So, two losses, a worse loss than OU's, the least impressive wins of the 4 through 6 teams, and a non-champ to boot: not really that hard to calculate tbh.

@@zDerezzed Not long ago? LSU beat them by 20, first of all, which is objectively worse than OU's single loss by 3 to Texas. Second, LSU was only ranked that highly because they beat a historically overrated Miami team - they proceeded to beat Auburn by 1, lose to a Florida team that got smashed by Missouri, get shut out at home by Bama, and lose to Texas A&M. Third, I don't care what the committee says, I care what it does and in this instance it's pretty obvious. They looked at teams' floors. #3 Notre Dame's floor was still managing to beat everyone on their schedule. #4 OU's floor was losing to Texas by 3, which they avenged in the Big 12 championship by double digits. UGA's 20 point loss, in addition to their second loss in the SEC championship, left them at 5, and OSU stayed at 6 despite their win over Northwestern thanks to the Purdue blowout. Georgia can't lose the two biggest games on their schedule, one by three scores, and still say they're definitively a "best 4" football team. I'm sorry, but that doesn't even make sense.

Adam Hart I think we saying that a team with arguably the most nfl prospects on it, heisman winner, conference champion, and best wins out of any of the top 10 teams should be competing for a national championship. YES Maryland best Texas, OU went to overtime with ARMY. Had 40+ points dropped of them all year by way more garbage teams. And if your for UG they just lost to bama, consider that a playoff game, why put a team in that just lost to another playoff team, makes zero sense. I’m a proponent of expanding only because it’s all subjective until they play each other. No one can say this team is better than this team if they don’t play each other and that’s just the cold hard truth. Espn hypes up sec every year and the zombies believe it. Oklahoma has no business being in the playoff. There were 4 teams that ran the table and the Sooners got the spot of that team. Have fun losing to the Irish like you got beat by Boise State in the greatest college football game in the history of ever. UCF would beat you so step aside for them.

Skip is absurd. He says OU defense did worse than October's loss to Texas. They scored two points Saturday, and got a pick. In October Texas scored 48 points, Saturday they scored 27. The passing yards given up are nice to look at, but the 21-point difference is the point.

Yes, Ohio State has a bad loss, but looking at a team’s bottom is not the way you find the best team. OSU has a better SOR than Oklahoma, played and won against higher ranked teams, and specifically defenses (considering we both have powerful offenses). Ohio State only played one game with a non power 5 opponent, Oklahoma played 2 of them. ESPN’s playoff predictor gave a 71% chance that, based on the committees decisions in prior years, Ohio State would take the 4th spot. The rankings by this year’s committee tell everyone that weak schedules get rewarded and conference championships don’t matter. Plain and simple...Ohio State was robbed again. 2 years in a row, the B1G champ left out.

Everything you stated is right, but the bottom line is...OUs loss to TX is far better than losing by 29 to unranked Purdue. Every year it seems Ohio State is great at getting blown out by a team they have no business losing to. Can't blame the committee for making that point abundantly clear.

Look OSU is garbage. They benefit by being in one of the easier conferences. They’re kinda like UCF. If OSU was in the SEC, they would be lucky to stay ranked.

Although I don't think it will happen this go around, I'll laugh hard too if it happens. I laughed hard when OU beat them in the 2014 Sugar Bowl. Bama was a 14 point favorite in that game and ended up losing by 14.. Bama just so happens to be a 14 point favorite in this one as well.

It SHOULD be the best 4 teams. It won’t be because the committee is afraid of putting 2 SEC teams again. But it shouldn’t matter because all conferences are not created equal. It’s so dumb that our reward for winning our division is to play Alabama while Oklahoma’s to beat a 3 (now 4 loss) Texas team

Everyone said Georgia vs OU last year was going to be a nightmare game. It went to double OT. I don't think OU can beat Bama with that OU defense but I'm not sure its going to be a nightmare. I think Big 12 offenses are underrated outside of the Big 12 just like SEC defenses are overrated outside of the SEC. OU has beaten Bama, Auburn and taken Georgia to 2OT in the last 4 years. That's pretty respectable.
