Instead they got him against Forrest Griffin and we know how that fight went. Just don't put down Adesanya because of his more recent success and those guys success in the past. It's not really cool to do that when the guy had 6 title defenses more than what the majority have. Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko are the only two female fighters in the UFC that routinely beat opponents badly and retained their titles dominantly. I mean it's reasonable that Joe is at least a little bit of Izzy. Not just because of his UFC job or podcast. But because Izzy has came out plenty of times defending Joe. When it comes to analyzing fights I think Joe is one of the least biased. He was the only one that didn't give Izzy a single round in his fight with Sean on the fight companion and was calling the people that gave Izzy 2 rounds stupid.

And with Strickland's shoulder-roll style.....he crused to an EASY 185lb championship victory against Israel Adesanya. Izzy couldn't break Sean's defense. Amazing fight!!!

@@otallono well ts also a combo of Sean not respecting Izzy enough to fear his power and he knew Izzy was gonna try to pull counter all night. But straight beats looping punches especially if your against the cage. Pair that with the level of how izzy was over looking him but he knew he was way more skilled. But Sean as a person threw him off becuase he see through his act and loves to call it how it is. So the level of confidence Sean was showing in thinking he was gonna beat him and walk him down. But the past result of Sean's fights werent quite matching the energy that he is always putting out. Which got him Ko'ed against Alex but once he trained with Alex and learned how to check more kicks and improved all around. He was gonna give Izzy alot more trouble then he could ever against Alex. bc of 1.) how willing Izzy is to sit on the backfoot and counter with a hook. 2.) The pressure, pace, and basic striking defense was gonna give Izzy problem if he didnt take the center. Which we know Sean was gonna refuse to let happen. And 3.) The underestimating of Izzy on Seans power and over confidence of his own. But we could see a Ali vs Leon Spinks 2 type of performance but I dont see that happening and we prob wont either unfortunetly

Well Sean was right other than the part where he said it would be a challenging fight because of Izzy's size. He made Izzy look like an amateur. I'm still shocked. Izzy is meant to be this elite striker, one of the best in the world, yet Sean just walked through him and nobody before this said he was a top level striker or would do that.

Izzy is an elite counter striker and with distance. Overall striker, far from elite. Sean was exactly right but most of us, including Rogan, are casuals and don’t truly understand striking.

That's how the UFC paints it, but far from the truth. Obviously, Izzy IS a world class fighter no doubt, but I wouldn't call him a world class STRIKER. He came from a relatively low skill kickboxing organization that didn't have much in the way of striking talent. Funnily enough, the first time he fought in a decent kickboxing organization (Glory) he lost. As a matter of fact, 4 out of his 5 loses in Kickboxing have been in Glory, which goes to show that once he stepped up to the big leagues he started losing. His striking however is a lot better than your average grappling-oriented MMA fighter, and has been shitting on MMA strikers, most of which have been wrestlers. He also lost to Jan Blachowicz in a lackluster counter striking battle, and I wouldn't call Jan technical. I wouldn't necessarily call Sean a world class striker either, but he was good enough to beat Izzy with a good gameplan and by being tough.

That's the thing. The UFC hasn't sought real fighters out since their show, Ultimate Fighter. They are just a platform for brand deals and drug addicts like Cokenor McGreggor or Jon 'Crackrock' Jones.
