    @@astanley97 No not really... He has 10 UFC finishes. 5 subs. His TKOs against Gustafsson 2, Sonnen, Matyushenko, and Vera were from takedowns, so the only real standup TKO he had was against Rua, and they wrestled on the ground for a long time after he got knocked down. In his DQ match against Hamill he also got the takedown before the elbows. His takedowns per 15 min at 2.07 is higher than even DC, who is known to be a wrestler, and had 3 in his latest fight vs Smith. Can he strike? Of course. He's a great striker. But he's a wrestler who can strike well. He's not an MMA guy who can do a little bit of BJJ. Also, considering he only competed wrestling up to and through his first year in college, hard to say his base wasnt wrestling.

    In boxing their still beating the shit out of each other. The thing is it’s more of ego training, the pro is beating up on the amateur most of the time

  • @nickcaesar7650

    @nickcaesar7650

    I can tell you from boxing for 10 years it’s quite rare to put an amateur in with a pro for sparring. Generally, top amateurs fight other top amateurs, low end pros fight other low end pros, and the good pros only spar other good pros. That was the gyms I went to at least. It happens here and there for a round or 2 in rare instances, but generally my trainers do not allow a large gap in sparring. Nothing but ass beatings and brain damage can come from that. Not all gym are like that granted.

    Nick Caesar Same here. Only time you’ll ever see something like that is if the Pro is helping the amateur with something. Which could be a number of things. I’ve never seen a gym throw in an amateur with a Pro and make them do hard sparring lol.

    I respect Joe rogan and massive fan of Forrest back in the day when MMA was not followed by mid life crisis nerds 😂 I’m a 3 time national boxing champion from England and represented my country and have to be honest Forrest and joe should stick to talking about MMA because that was a load of bullshit they have just fed the fans! We beat the shit out of each other 3 times a week that’s the only way you learn and we spar Lads on the Great Britain team and have sparred top professionals aswell lads who are better than me! We don learn by sparring lads who are less advanced than us that’s more what happens in mma gyms! And to suggest top professionals like floyd May weather spars bums is an absolute embarrassing statement! If you have watched floyd spar on KZread it was with world class opposition they are far from bums they are world class sparring partners floyd is just that good he makes his sparring partners look like bums! Any mma person who has walked in our gym has either been dropped severely beaten or knocked out cold and not one of them have ever come back to the gym again! They walk in the gym full of confidence tell everyone they are some type of ninja and then as soon as it’s time to spar you see these mma people get their heads punched in very quickly! There’s levels to this shit to many nerds focus on this mma the fact of the matter is mma stand up is horrendous it looks like 2 drunk bums outside a bar having a fight on tv😂 the only half ok mma people I have seen are the Diaz brothers and Darren till and that mcgregor the rest are terrible technical ability! Think of it like this guys if a fight breaks out your not guna see some guy throwing a handbag fist like he’s off a video game nor will you see a guy that will say do you fancy having a gay hug on the floor? You will see two men with their fists having a fight and that ladies and gentleman is why a boxer is a different animal!!! All you mma cats who like to drink and cause trouble better pray to your lucky stars that you don’t cause trouble with a boxer because I promise you will get embarrassed quickly, probably picking your jaw and your head up off the floor👍 good luck lads

    Yes but women's mma fighters are a step above pathetic imo right now. The last 2 UFC events I watched the women fighters do not know day 1 basic fight game strategy. All 4 women's fighters I saw didn't know to: - keep their mouth closed during the fight -keep their hands up, esp the hand defending the opponent's strong hand -one woman stuck her tongue out during her punches! -basic foot movement is horrendous -grappling is sloppy and full of day basic mistakes Then you see in between rounds their coaches aren't even telling them the shit that matters. I mean if my fighter was sticking out her tongue when throwing punches, it would've been corrected in training camp, but if not during the round end I'd be telling them close your mouth or you'll get knocked out and maybe a broken jaw. Nope. Not a word on any of what I saw.
