Hollywood is an industry based on illusions, and all actors and actresses are merely players in those illusions. The same for fake news and so called 'reality' tv nonsense. True reality is an insect, fish, flower or your own body that are magical miracles to behold.

it's hard to determine the difference between a cult and a religion. they're both firmly held beliefs which is what keeps the government from interfering(church and state and all that). So it's this kinda fucked up stalemate where the government won't intervene because it will set a precedent and then they'd have to interfere in every religion essentially, because the differences are hard to put onto paper. I genuinely believe that Hubbard saw a loop hole for a get rich quick scheme that's still going after he's died.

My uncle was a Scientologist. Also a chiropractor, go figure. He coerced my dad to go to the church in San Francisco. Dad was hooked up to the e meter. He tried to see what was on the screen and the auditor covered the machine and said “you can’t look”. Dad promptly dropped the soup cans and forcefully walked out the front door. Made it to a street pay phone and called mom to rescue him. We still get phone calls and mail 30 years later.

She will also say that the Xenu story is not literal but is a metaphor that dives into the core of human psyche. Who would care enough to continue to quote text word for word? Why would someone correct anyone who used the text wrong? Lastly why would someone take the most damning evidence on Scientology and explain that this bullshit sci-fi story is made for people who think on a higher level that knows to not take this tale as literal?

She did, and so I do absolutely say good for her ON THAT. However, she very clearly still seems to reflexively have an air of superiority about her. Now, maybe this was her personality even before she joined the church, I don't know. But hearing her explain back these processes to Joe (tho I've seen this repeatedly when she's doing it to other talk/podcast show hosts, for that matter), sure she's talking about really weird shit, but the nuts and bolts of what she's saying is pretty straight forward. And yet, she keeps on interrupting herself to ask the person "are you getting this?", and when the interviewer isn't even giving any outward sign that they're totally lost. It's this sort of passive/aggressive way she's maintaining this "no hon, you're just not gonna get it unless I explain it to you in this very specific way" (and what turns out to be a fairly simple way). It's this constant expectation that the person listening to her isn't smart or open enough to fully grasp what she's saying. That is NOT a positive attribute to have in your personality, I'm sorry.

My wife almost got wrapped up into scientology right before I met her. When she moved in I noticed their mail all the time in my mail box so much it was driving me insane, I started calling all the numbers on the mail to get my address removed from their list. Then they started calling all the time, when I got on the phone with them I sternly told them this is a Christian house hold. One day they actually came to our door in hazmat suits ( no joke from head to toe hazmat suits during covid, I answered the door thinking it was covid related and on their chest it said the church of scientology and I lost my mind in shock they came to the house. I literally lit them up verbally and told them to get the F off my front porch and never come back. They never did and everything stopped. Be stern with these psychos. They only want your money and to destroy your family.

I agree... But it's no different than christianity and Jesus today. Many christians were brought into that nonsense as children and could not shake it until adulthood. And, honestly, most people still can't shake it as adults. It took me a long time to become a logical adult and stop believing in the christian nonsense. Because, here we are today, many of us so-called "logical" christians, laughing and knocking down Scientology, and the going clear, the space spirits that were thrown into volcanoes, and Xenu, all while at the same time believing that christ walked on water, fed thousands with one fish and resurrected after being murdered three days earlier! We spent years criticizing the scientology bullshit while believing our own bullshit at the same time. Many people will not want to hear it, but christianity, islam, Buddhism, Judaism, any religion really, are all as much of a cult as scientology is. And the biggest culprit is christianity, which has been brainwashing and robbing people for centuries before L. Ron Hubbard had a bright idea that one day!

Scientology is similar to a lot of institutions of belief that prey on weak people through pressure and coercion. It's a numbers game for them. If they can just get 2 out of every 150 people to at least generate interest and get them to a certain level where they spend money (or signe a document putting themselves in debt) they can perpetuate their false belief system.

But I should have specified that the 50% isn't by amount of cells, of course half your body weight is NOT a mass of cells from foreign microbes nor do they make up have you bodies cell count. What I meant was 50% by variety. As in half to most of the different kinds of cells in your body are of a foreign diversity.

She is a brave woman and I'm glad she's shutting light on this, but can Joe Rogan please shut up and quit interrupting every 2 seconds?! We would have got a lot more out of her if he had just been courteous, ask her a question and then let her answer it. It's like he wants to have equal time to the guest and isn't some kind of competition. If somebody goes way off course, I understand but he would ask a question and she would say two words and then he would say something else before she even completed the statement. I think her story is amazing and I would have liked to have heard her be able to say it without constant interruptions!

As a long time initiate of a "Mystery Religion", I can tell you that part of the work, is that the more effort and time you put into it to reach the "next level" the more you will work to convince yourself that it has value, even as it becomes more apparent that it doesn't. If you think it's hard to convince someone that they've been fooled, imagine how much harder it is to convince someone that they've been fooled who has worked so hard and invested so much time to be fooled. It takes a rare person to take an honest look and say "I've been a fool" and walk away.

When you are a child, you do what your caregivers tell you and accept it as fact because you are a dry sponge ready to soak up anything so to speak. You don't have any other experience in the world except what you are given. When another culture starts to challenge your experiences such as in school or an acquaintance outside of the cult, you experience cognitive dissonance. @@insideAdirtyMind When I did an Audit and lied and told them exactly what they wanted to hear and then they told me my levels were "floating in a heightened state", that's when I knew they were full of shit and said so to the auditor. And I walked out. They called a few times to get me back but I told them to fuck off and they let it go.

Read the book but went no further. My sister got caught up in the "Moonies" for several years. Fucked up family leads kids to seek ANY love & structure. Glad to have survived to 60!

@@katiekane5247 Yeah my uncle who just passed away at 70, was in the "Moonies" he left it and joined another church that was kinda normal like born again. He was always seeking answers and no one in my family could talk him out of it like brainwashing.

This was from 7 years ago, but this resonates with what Katt Williams said recently about people in Hollywood who have been "accepted" and have to deny that anything ever happened!

Leah's mother, for what it's worth, didn't actually buy this part either. She revealed this later, but she had to put on the face for the supervisor standing there. She also left Scientology later herself.
