In the seventies my older brother worked in a public Mental Institution outside of Boston.One day this guy was admitted having a full blown Manic episode. But the guy was spitting out killer jokes a mile a minute. Turns out he was Rodney's main joke writer The guy stabilized after a relatively short time and did the Houdini. my brother told me a bunch of jokes the guy spit out and about a year later I saw him on TV and recognized a bunch of the new jokes

R B You mean people don’t know the very famous catchphrase of the subject of the video?? Must feel great to be one of the 4 or 5 people that knows Dangerfields famous “No respect” gimmick. Oh wait...literally millions of people know about that.

Me and my wife, we were happy for 25 years! Ohhh, then we met. My favorite Rodney joke. :) Miss him and Mitch and so many other greats that are now gone.

Upon checking in at the hospital for surgery in August '04 Nurse: "Mr Dangerfield so nice to meet you, how long are you here for?" Rodney: "If it goes well sweetheart, a week or two. If not, about an hour and a half." His last recorded comments. Dude went out with a one-liner. Respect.

When I was in college, I was a valet at a well known Beverly Hills restaurant and Rodney and his wife were regulars. When he would give me his keys, he always had a kind word or asked me about school. I remember he came in the week before I resigned to take a job with my firm. He said "kid, do what you love and you'll never regret anything." I will always remember that.

Underrated? No fucking way. He was the greatest. I saw him in 2000 at 17 and knew he was a legend.

I never appreciated RD when I was younger, but I found as I grew older, I kept coming back to him. Such a pro!

Nobody talks about him like they do Pryor, Williams, or Carlin but they should. He was very quick witted and had his own amazing style. He is definitely underrated!

To me Rodney is at the very top of the heap...one of the best of all time. Influential and brilliant. And the guy you would most want to hang out with...

He's underrated like Seinfeld is; a lot of comedians write them off and talk about people like Hicks, Bruce, and Kinison even though they aren't even close to as good as Dangerfield or Seinfeld.

Rodney had such a unique voice.

Loved seeing him at his club in NYC, Dangerfield's in the 70's. He would come out in his bathrobe with a joint at times and shook a lot of hands AND he was down to earth as they come! RIP Rodney.

He was amazing in natural born killers. Laughed so hard in the opening scene.

I watched Rodney on Carson the other day and it was the best stand-up I've heard in a long time. Dude crushed effortlessly, such a unique style of funny.

Loved this guy as a kid, I’m 28 now. I never see enough Dangerfield content and it’s a shame, dude was a comedic genius

I'm glad I got the opportunity to see him on Johnny Carson's show. He is one of the funniest comedians ever I can't see many comedians hold a candle to him. One of the best and one of the few that can make me laugh out loud other comedians just make me smile

Todd Glass is hilarious. Is stand up is alright, but it’s how funny he is in person and on a podcast that makes me love him. The Todd glass show has almost killed me at times it’s so funny. Other times it’s slow and boring but it’s always worth the wait

Rodney Dangerfield is extremely underrated. He's a legend, but, for some reason, he's not, normally, put in people's "Top 10 Best" lists, when he's one of the absolute greatest, of all time. His name should be mentioned way more. His whole thing was, how he "got no respect", but, in reality, he's one of the most respected (and beloved) people (not just comics), ever.

Could you imagine a perfect world? Where Rodney sits across the table on JRE?

Rodney was a great rapper I had the album as a kid.

Had one of Rodney's early club performance on cassette tape when I was 8 (40 yrs ago) , before Easy Money . Wore the tape out. Cried when he passed. Rest in peace Rodney. You always make laugh. =not to corny?

He's not underrated. The people who know of him know full well he's a legend in his own right. He's under appreciated. That's the problem.

Rodney Dangerfield is the only celebrity ive ever met. I encountered him for just a brief moment when I was a kid in vegas. Its a longer story but it was really cool. Still remember it to this day.

Me and my dad met Rodney Dangerfield in the Maui airport while waiting on our plane and he was in between two escorts one blonde and one brunette while wearing a robe, he didn't say anything particularly funny, he was just like "always nice to meet a fan" then shook my dad's hand. But I'll never forget that image of him, he stuck out like a sore thumb but he never gave a shit XD

When I would see Rodney my brain would be swimming a minute into the act. The jokes and his tics would hit the audience like a hurricane. Before my brain could completely absorb a brilliant one liner, he's already moved on to the next one. Repeat that for an hour and you're shell-shocked with comedy. What an act.

My friend thought Dangerfield was overrated until I showed him Back to School.

I've watched KZread videos of Rodney on the Tonight Show a hundred times.....I knew every joke, but I laughed every time.

I just listened to Rodney's album No Respect (on mp3) and it never fails to just destroy me. If you do not possess this, get it, and if you don't laugh, please get yourself some help. As you get older, it is not as easy to really laugh so hard, but Rodney still gets me. And the guy here is right about timing.

I don't know who thinks Rodney was underrated. He was a beast and a comic genius. When i was a kid i used to do a killer Dangerfield impression and got out of a lot of trouble because my guidance counselor (who was married to the principal) used to ask me to do it all the time. He would be in tears and got me out of a lot of jams thanks to Rodney's material!
