And extreme right-wingers have no problem understanding opposing your country to stand up for your rights. They even glorify open and violent rebellion... if it's white people wanting to own slaves. They praise the 'proud heritage of the South' and fly Confederacy flags in their backyards. But god forbid if you 'disrespect' the USA, the country that disproportionally and on a regular basis kills your people and rarely punishes the perpetrators, by not doing an arbitrary gesture in unison with everyone else - which you are not required to do in the first place.

Kneeling has been seen throughout most of human culture ask a sign of respect and reverence, so why is it now that it not seen that way? Because kneeling issue isn't about a lack of respect, it's about disobedience. They are mad because black people aren't doing what white society is telling them to do. "You can protest all you like if you do it peacefully. No no no! Not like THAT!" No wonder the Floyd protests got violent. What else can you expect when you ignore the cries of the oppressed?

I can go on n on with how their is a social stigma around left-handedness that predates the Romans.. @@timkowalski1627 its actual an inability of his, one people don't seem to grasp but being able to listen helps to overcome such mistakes IRL. He *isn't* very good at communicating which is why young people fall for him, especially people in denial seeking confirmation to remain in their comfort zone / bubble. Trump and his press secretary are doing the same, its a destructive method used in communication with the most crucial aspect being a stream of mostly incoherent information, also vague most of the time as it allows you to alter your position in hindsight. But there are limits to the methods and it went full circle as those kind of peaceful protest (like kneeling) are sought after by the very people who sided against them back then. It works on young and uneducated people and now they have to find a way to justify their inability to understand the issue in the first place. Nobody wants to see themselves as the "bad" person, thus an explanation is required that puts those people in a better light, claiming that they had no idea and no way of knowing when the reason. PS: People like B.S. are usually smart which allows them to avoid too much thinking (paradox at first I know), especially when it comes to lack of emotional maturity leading to low EQ (e.g. the ability to understand another persons emotional state and adjust yourself accordingly). Low EQ people usually stick out when there is shift in the Overton window as they fail to adapt.

I don't think its wrong what kapernick did, but I think people don't like disrepecting the flag because of what it represents and the people who have died for it. Stories like my grandpa would tell me in vietnam when people he loved as friends who in 1 second were living people laughing and talking with him, would have there brains blown out right next to him and splatter across him and just a lifeless body (I have tons of family who have gone to the military so theres a lot of fucked up stories and shit that make me understand the pain that they have to go through). Things like D-day with young boys being sprayed down one after another just waves of murder while they just run up a beach. So I guess if you have lived a life that you havn't really seen or experience things like this and have lived sheltered, then its a lot easier to say you dont give a fuck. The point is that Kaepernick never TOOK A KNEE to express an anti-flag sentiment. He SAT to do that. When he realized what the flag meant to the military, he began kneeling. Thus the KNEELING was always pro-military.

Ben Shapiro says he hates that there’s this concept that this is the only era of goodness in humanity right after saying ‘everyone was bad in Columbus’s day so we shouldn’t stop celebrating him for the bad he did.’ So, has humanity always been good, and Columbus’ actions are an outlier? Therefore he was bad. Or was humanity bad up until recently, so Columbus is fine? In that case, Ben Shapiro called his own argument stupid. Someone help me out here.

The thing is people like Ben never have an over arching logic to their arguments. Every argument is meant to refute a specific point. That’s why, like you are pointing out, when you try to weave a needle through his arguments to try and stitch together a coherent set of beliefs you realize that all the points he makes contradict each other. Because at the end of the day to him the goal is not to state his beliefs, the goal is to disprove the beliefs of his opponents. TL;DR he’s morally bankrupt
