    People too young don't understand during the early to mid 2000s Jason Miller was KILLING it. He was winning many fights, he had a great TV show called Bully Beatdown I used to watch with my brothers, one who passed away four years ago. Which makes it mean that much more to me. Jason was an amazing grappler no one wanted to get on the ground with him. He had been fighting since he was a teenager imagine the effect that'd have physically and mentally. So, what's your point? Does that invalidate Jason Millers victory over a legend? 41 isn't that old in mma. This isn't boxing. A mixed martial artists versatility, skillset, and experience can keep them in the game a lot longer than a boxer, plus mixed martial artists take far less punishment over the course of their careers than any professional boxer in the same course of time. Sakuraba wasn't Chuck Liddell as far as his style is concerned. Sakuraba was a world class grappler, submission specialist with loads of experience. Grappling ability doesn't deteriorate with age if you stay in shape. The thing you are missing is what actually took place in that fight against Jason Miller. Against most guys, Sakuraba probably would have been able to pull off that submission attempt, but Jason Miller was able to break the submission, keep Sakuraba on bottom, and then submit Sakuraba. That has nothing to do with age. That's all skill.

    Prime or no prime, ground and pound strikes, broken submission attempts, and a submission finish has nothing to do with age. Those punches to the head, that top control, and that arm triangle would be just as effective regardless of how many years you have lived and fought. If Sakuraba was 5 years younger in that fight he still would have had just as much trouble in that situation on his back against another great grappler that could match his skill level. It always pissed me off when people use age to dismiss a victory. Mma isn't like boxing. Mma fighters often fight deep into their 40's, and still look good because of their skillsets, experience, and versatility. I find that as long as an older fighter stays active they usually don't lose much ability in the ring. It's when guys retire, and take years off of fighting before coming back into the octagon that age really shows because you can't get better at something by not doing it often. Would you step inside the octagon with a 41 year old Sakuraba, a 47 year old Dan Henderson, or a 47 year old Anderson Silva?

  • @humanbean1424

    @humanbean1424

    Жыл бұрын

    @@donavonhoward114 You dont know much do you? Think about it. Anderson Silva just recently got beaten by a youtuber. Before that he was on a losing streak and struggled against a fighter he shouldve have beaten in Uriah Hall. With age comes wear and tear and diminished chin and reaction time. You mention Dan Henderson who chin was made of granite, but by the end of his career got knocked out by a jab. So youre tripping to think age doesnt matter. Sukuraba knee was basically hanging by a string, and his body is broken down. Perhaps Mayhem can still beat him in his prime, who knows, cause itll just be all guess work. But the fact still stand that the Sakuraba that fought Mayhem was a shell of his former days. Go watch some of his old matches, his movements and transitions were like art. By the end of his career he could barely move right. Those are all facts. Not guess work...

    People forget how trash ufc roster was back in the day. Pride was the best. Ufc champions lost to pride fighters.

    What do you think he's been doing? He's SO much healthier than he was when he was in Cali. Go back and look how he looked on the last episodes of "The Church" and now. He's lost a lot of weight and cut way back on the "weeduh" lol.

    A funny story about Mayhem when he fought in Hawaii. Locals in Hawaii hate White people and think they are all weak. If anyone knows about Hawaii, racism is king here. I'm a Haole that grew up in Waianae in the 70's and 80's where fighters like Max and Kimo grew up and where anti-white boy sentiment is highest and here comes Mayhem to challenge Waianae and other fighters from Hawaii and he would be in enemy territory talking mad shit with people wanting to kill him. He was a crazy White boy and he would be at the Blaisdell arena taunting Hawaiians in the worse way like challenging their manhood and he would destroy every fighter including Robbie Lawler and Niko but he was fighting other local fighters and submitting or making them sleep. It was a crazy time in Hawaii MMA and I was chuckling the whole time because most locals don't respond well to being taunted and then beat up by a mainland Haole. Good Times and by the way this was about the time Max was King of Ulu Wehi

    Early fighting made guys look better than they were. Asian fighters never have done well in MMA.
