Why do MMA fans feel so goddamn insecure after an MMA fighter loses in a Boxing match. They go straight to "If it was a real fight.....", but it wasn't. A non boxer lost to a boxer what's the issue here?

I respect both sports. I lean more towards MMA, but I think the reason why is the a lot of boxing fans are always like "Boxers can beat anyone at any time. Some kid boxing at the YMCA would easily knock out the best MMA fights with on punch in any rule set. The reason why he doesn't is because he'd make more money in a real sport." Now, a lot of fans of boxing do respect MMA and recognize the strengths of weaknesses of both sports and recognize that since there's a greater variety of weapons in MMA that MMA striking does not translate well into boxing since many of boxing's best tools could leave a fighter open to takedowns or kicks. It's mostly just shittalking between hypeboys.

Rogan has some of the worst takes in combat sports. The only reason he’s respected is because he was there first. He’s the combat sports equivalent of Soulja Boy. Complete dumbass, knows almost nothing about his field but managed to luck out and hop on something that would be massive in the future before it was big.

Most talent is in boxing and wrestling since young age, and most people stick to what they are good at. Sure some good boxers and wrestlers will try out in another discipline as they get older, but most will stay in their respective sports. The ones that were good but not that good will diversify and come to mma. This is what I commented on a yt video after the Fury fight: "Don't let this embarrassing performance by Fury trick you into thinking that all the other ranked heavyweights wouldn't beat Ngannou.". This fight was just pointing out the obvious. Who in the right mind at the top level of heavyweight boxing takes 2 fights in 2 months, unless he doesn't take the first one seriously at all? That's what Fury did. Fury signed to fight Usyk next, a couple of days before fighting Ngannou, meaning that he took that fight as a warmup fight to get rid of the ring rust. It backfired, but that was the worst-case scenario for Fury and he still edged the win.

Joe will always be team MMA because he’s taekwondo background, and he was a big part of the UFC as a brand growing, promoting MMA. Admitting another martial art is superior to your own isn’t really going to happen in such a high pride environment. He says he ‘respects’ it, but in truth it’s a bit on the patronising side. When a guy comes in like Connor Macgregor beating a lot of the guys with fists, they never really talked about the fact he started as an amateur boxer before going into MMA, because it doesn’t support the narrative, it’s entirely possible a boxer in their prime could do really well in MMA. BJJ guys learn how to strike a little, nothing stopping boxers from learning a little takedown defence. Personally, I think let the individual fighters do the fighting, if your reason for A beating B is ‘they do ‘insert martial art here’, then that is just hyperbolic fanboy or casual bull crap. I’m only interested in breakdowns where people are picking up on specific analytical tactical breakdowns of the strengths of two individuals, but damn is it rare you come across that in the media.

i'm tired mma people saying "in a real fight." in a real fight i'm shanking or shooting, not rolling around on concrete. boxing is the pinnacle of fisticuffs because it is simple, strict but extremely brutal. you have limited areas you can strike, and you have to learn to be effective at striking those specific areas with precision all whilst evading your opponent. mma is far too broad for my taste. it's like football ⚽️ with the goal being 3 times as wide as regulation. yes, more scoring and perhaps more action, but less precision and exactitude. i'm not downgrading the skill of mma fighters, but it is just a far easier sport to excel in especially when compared to boxing. boxing takes much more time because there are no shenanigans. ngannou wanted to box, but the coach said that would take too long and you can make money faster and easier in mma -- their words/story, not mine.

When mma guys tell you "in a real fight" just tell them: "I didn't know 'hugging and rolling' like a sissy was 'real fighting". Besides who TF are they to tell? Isn't war 'real fighting', isn't a knife fight 'real fighting'? Boxing is fist fighting and fist fighting is fighting like men.

I’m sorry but any mma fighter, you take away their kicking and grappling, they can’t box for shit. McGregor, ngannou etc. boxing is an art in itself. It’s a man’s sport. No kicking, no grappling, just let the fists do the talking. I know you’ll say, “well if boxers crossed over” but at the end of the day, fists do the talking. How it should be. On Friday, AJ underscored this point, giving Francis a humbling demonstration of skill and discipline. Francis found himself overwhelmed, taking hits from AJ that skilled boxers typically evade. This was a pure exhibition of brute force. This isn't akin to someone striking a power cube and then claiming to be the hardest hitter on the globe.

Dude, Joe is salty over the result. Francis prepared for his boxing transition for 4 years before entering the boxing ring. Fury didnt prepare at all for the fight and came in crazy out of shape on fight night. After francis did better than people thought, Joshua properly prepared and disposed of him. Francis didnt get old over night, it was a fluke, and if he rematched fury and fury took him seriously, im sure the result would be similar. maybe not the same as AJ because Fury doesnt have that type of power, but i bet he would soundly beat Francis in the rematch.
