I paid for four guitar lessons and went to three of them, about twenty years ago. I was already a pro musician, on other instruments, and wanted some pointers on guitar. Most of the lessons were the teacher figuring out how to play the song I wanted to learn and him writing down the notation so I could also learn to read music on guitar. It felt like a huge waste of time and money, like he should have been more prepared before my lesson, but later I realized that he was teaching me, whether he intended to or not, to figure it out myself. If you’re a diy person you probably don’t need a lesson a week for years, but take a few here and there and let the knowledge marinate. If you find a good teacher they’ll be able to accommodate your learning style, though they probably wouldn’t appreciate you not becoming a regular student.

Idk man ur teacher sounded like trash, the whole reason you get a teacher is so so you don’t have to figure it out by yourself, I’m glad u only went to 3.

I remember hearing a story, I'm pretty sure it was told by Jerry Cantrell about when Megadeth and Alice in chains toured in Ireland in the early 90s and Dave went on stage and said something like "this next one is for the cause" not knowing what "the cause" really was or where exactly he was at the time. Wish I could find that.

Dave has also told the story , he didn’t realise the mistake he made and they ended up being escorted from the arena after the gig in an armoured vehicle ! That situation inspired the song holy wars .. the punishment due from the rust in piece album 👍🏻 it’s a common tale told on most megadeth documentaries .

Can totally see cat stevens and Motown influence in megadeath lol Why not say what was the first riff you figured out by urself,or if you learned by ear , did you learn off record or cassette? Just sounds like bs, but he knows how to play, wish he would just say how he got so good
