    Cro Cop came to UFC past his prime like a lot of the former pride fighters. Quite a shame really.

  • @jaywill4ever

    I think Cro Cop was still in his prime when he first came to the UFC. He won the Pride GP a few months earlier. I think he just didn't prepare enough to fight in the cage and defend against elbows. He underestimated Gonzaga and that cost him dearly. He was never the same after that fight. If he had fought Gonzaga in Pride around that same time, the fight would have been much different.

    ***** he never train in cage (for ufc) Hes reflex and speed was not the same after pride. I don't know why?

  • @jaywill4ever

    @jaywill4ever

    NexusCool1 Some people say he got old, and some people say he was on steroids in Pride. I really don't know what happened. In his first UFC fight against Eddie Sanchez, it was hard to determine how good Cro Cop was because Sanchez was scared and didn't really challenge him. Against Gonzaga he was taken down and elbowed against the cage. After getting hit with those elbows he became too cautious against the takedown and he was surprised by a high kick KO. Some fighters are never the same after a brutal knockout. CC lost confidence after that. It wasn't like the Randleman KO. That actually made CC a better fighter, but after Gonzaga he was a much different fighter. It was really hard to watch him lose to people that he would have destroyed in his prime. But I say the same thing about Shogun. Some fighters have it one day, and then they just lose it. It happens in all sports. It's just hard to accept it because CC was such a fan favorite and his fighting style was so fun to watch.

  • @NexusCool1

    ***** Well if main thing of some fighters is speed and relfex they will not be successful for a longer time. That shit is first to go when you got old. Probably in CroCop case this happened. Also i heard that he didn't train in cage for UFC fights...lol. I don't know is that true but lots of people say that. When you look hes UFC fights....he is so slow.

    Dan Brand DC is not type fighter cro cop is,...DC have chin and likes to be close to opponent. look Cro Cop speed and reflex in his prime. And watch him after pride. He could barely avoid kicks...not even trying to make distance for his game. More like im here for money.

    Crocop is the second greatest fighter of all times IMO. Right at his peak (when he fought Fedor) he was so good that he could be beaten only by Fedor and no one else on the planet. Respect to Cain, JDS, Hunt, Werdum, Struve and today's top HWs but they aren't as good as Fedor, Crocop and Nogueira were back then...maybe in few years Cain will achieve such level of dominance but that's going to be a very hard task.

He is one of the best kickboxers to ever live, and every year he makes it far in the tournaments including winning the grand prix not too long ago in late 2012. It really hurt watching him in the last ufc bouts,especially the schaub fight (total douchebag),mir fight (where he got on short notice) and nelson fight where he had a broken bicep. But there is no room for excuses in this sport,win some lose some i don't care,he is and will be one of the pioneers and greatest of all time in both kickboxing and mma.

    out of all the guys that had careers in PRIDE, Crocop shouldve been least affected by the rules. He was never much of a stomp guy, & used kicks to the head of a downed opponent rarely. he had a full kickboxing career with more restrictive rules than the unified rules so the rules in north america took away stomps but allowed elbows shouldnt be much detriment to a striker of all people. He could still kick the body of a downed guy & with his kicks thats a gr8 weapon. Still top 3 HW ever, agreed.

His soccer kicks were killer too(Waterman fight). I consider UFC fights inferior to the PRIDE fights, because of the rules and the scoring sciteria. I will continue to consider it inferior as long as the unified rules exist. UFC is the top MMA promotion today, but it is NOT the best place ever to show true unarmed combat abilities.PRIDE baby
