I advocate for repealing the NFA every chance I get, but i feel like it isn't going to happen not enough people even understand it. Even more boneheads seem to want "common sense gun laws" and don't know or care about principals of the constitution or think that worst case scenarios where people need access to actual weapons of war to dislodge a tyrannical regime can't happen or that we're just better off letting only authorities have a monopoly on violence and force no matter what

Your telling me, in Canada, they have bin illegal for everything other then making and transporting since the 1900. Honestly it is honestly our only gun law I don't agree with and they should at least make it legal for rifles and shot guns and just leave out hand guns and assault rifles. Taken friends without licences shooting and they are the worst for shooting right after instructions and before I can get my ear protection on.

if you want to kill people with a suppressor, you can drive south of the border and buy one and come back..the decision to kill people as a serial killer or mass shooter is not something that randomly happens..it is from someone with intense psychosis and years of development and planning. im very surprised mass murderers haven't figured out fertilizer bombs or more efficient pressure cooker bombs. it goes without saying that a murderer isnt smart

@@starkicker5623 How do you know mass shooters all have intense psychosis, and have planned for years? Also, you needn't go to another country to get a suppressor. You just need to go to another state. There are only 8 states with suppressor bans. It's like how Illinois has very strict gun laws but a slightly noteworthy gun crime rate. The users of those firearms get the majority of those firearms from just next door in Indiana, Mississippi, and Wisconsin.

@DannonM1 Woosh, you're pretty dense aren't you. The NFA governs full auto weapons. The reason they're expensive to own is because of the NFA (only pre-ban weapons class III can be sold limiting supply and making them very expensive). Repealing the NFA means full auto weapons would once again be available at the same prices as other guns, and they would vastly outsell semi-autos. By saying we should repeal the NFA you are saying we should have full auto weapons everywhere because that is exactly what would happen.

And have a suppressor that makes all my firearms sound like mouse farts. Unfortunately, I live in the real world where after 20 miles that 7lb M4 starts to feel a little heavy. And having accidentally forgotten to put my ear pro in the one time, sounds pretty loud when your not expecting it. I think all lawmakers should be made to take a basic gun safety/ education course before they’re allowed to draft any form or gun legislation. But that’s just one woman’s opinion. I’m not expecting them to be experts on any or all firearms. But they should at least know that while assault rifles do exist there is no such thing as a “assault weapon” class firearm. And the difference between full auto and semi. Basic, firearms 101, knowledge.

Silencers have been restricted by the NFA since 1934, effectively pre-dating any Hollywood mythos (movies had sound for about 7 years at that point). Chances are their inclusion was based on a legislator simply reading the phrase "gun silencer" and having paranoid fantasies about his own public assassination being quiet as a pin drop. Even with a wiped suppressor, subsonic ammo, and manual action, it's as loud as hammering a nail or a big bore air rifle. With the added bonus of a giant muzzlemuffler adding 8+ inches of barrel length.

Joe suppressors are not silencers. They do not silence a gun in most cases. You have to do more than that. One the bigger the suppressor, the more it quietens it down. The bigger the suppressor, the more it interferes with your operation of the gun. It usually interferes with the sighting on the weapon. You almost can use open sights on a suppressed weapon. Some you can but not many of them. Almost have to use optics and it requires a special set up depending on what you have. But the most noise is produced by the supersonic crack of the bullet. Suppressors can't do much about this unless you are using ammo that's barely supersonic and your can has wipes in addition to baffles and it slows the bullet down to sub sonic. Then there is the explosion of the powder that heats gasses up and causes the to expand and slam into the air around it like lightning does to make thunder. Now that's the part that suppressors really effect. They provide a space in which those gasses can expand and slow down over a longer period of time than otherwise. There is also the noise of the mechanism of the gun operating. The hammer falling. The action cycling. The shell hitting the ground. To make the gun quiet, you have to start with quiet ammo. This can make hunting more challenging because to do this you have to reduce the power the ammo has. This is usually done in manually actuated firearms such ar lever, pump, bolt action or break barrel guns that don't require lots of recoil or gas to operate a reciprocating mechanism. You use these for close up ambush hunting of small game or pests. Or assassination. It would usually be something like a heavy round that has very little powder in it. We are talking usually pistol calibers here. You can also have rounds that use only a primer and those can be really quiet with a supressor on. Literally the loudest thing is the hammer striking. You can take something like a lever action .357 rifle and use colibri rounds with a supressor and you have essentially the worlds quietest pellet rifle. It's not gonna take long range shots or knock over a deer. But it will kill a opossum or armadillo from 10 to 20 yards.
