You correct...music is subjective on many levels, but if there is another bass player or guitarist that are better that Joe Pass and NHOP I have personally never seen heard or seen them...I also love when NHOP played with Oscar Peterson who for me stands alone as a piano player in his genre and is one of the greatest piano players ever from any genre and that is saying something...God blessed our ears when he gave us these men.

If you know about Joe Pass’ childhood his father pushed him to practice guitar for hours upon hours on a daily basis. At some point, if you spend your life working at something as much as Joe Pass did on the guitar, you are going to internalize it. The ones that make it look the easiest are the ones that work the hardest.

Starting at 27:47 is Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen soloing for several minutes. Extraordinary, miraculous, breathtaking are a few of the superlative adjectives that are just adequate. I had heard him on CD's, but nothing like this solo - including part of a Bach solo cello composition. And at 38:12, his lead into the next number - he plays with his instrument. He is simply not replaceable. This entire concert is a revelation - sincere thanks for uploading it. RIP Neils-Henning and hope you are with Joe and all the other jazz greats in an eternal jam session.

My friend and I had the pleasure of spending an hour or so with NHOP in the downstairs bar during the interval break. I remember we were all drinking bloody marys ! Have a photo somewhere of us all sitting down together. Never got the chance to see Joe live but he remains my favourite jazz guitarist - and there are a great many to choose from....

I was disoriented when the video started in Italian. I was just writing a note in Portuguese and was still thinking in Portuguese. I knew I could almost understand what was being said, but I just couldn't sync with it. Then it clicked...italiano! Now it made sense. Joe Pass, along with Joe Venuti, two of my favorite Italian jazz musicians! This is a great video. Thanks for uploading it.

Don't think I've ever heard music played on a double bass before. Astonishing. Loved the cameo tribute to JSB.
