    These chords and Lenny's approach to this Jobim classic are beyond the pale of so many famous guitarists.. I suspect that even Luis Bonfa and Laurindo Almeida could not have come up with these terrific voicings...In jazz, we've always admired and talked about the different chord vocabularies available to the various guitarists. Wes Montgomery, Barney Kessell, Jim Hall, Ted Greene and especially Ed Bickert devised their own vocabularies. We welcomed it as their signature sound. Lenny's sound and chord voicings reign supreme, and that's not even mentioning his fantastic technique, also off the charts. Wonderful transcription work my friend. Many Blessings to you.

    Superbe travail! Une question : à votre avis, quel doigté Django pouvait-il utiliser pour le Cmin/Eb (deuxième accord)?

  • @GillJazzTranscriptions
    @GillJazzTranscriptionsАй бұрын

    Comme pour le Cmi juste avant, je ne pense pas que Django pouvait les jouer, il les fait en deux temps, d'abord la basse puis l'accord de Cmi à 3 sons sur les cordes 432 qu'il fait avec le majeur qui pince 2 cordes et l'index. On entend bien sur l'enregistrement que la basse est détaché du reste de l'accord.

    @@GillJazzTranscriptions Une autre question un peu similaire : comment pensez-vous que Django jouait les deux positions pour l'accord de Fa à la mesure 30 (les deux premières croches)? Ce n'est pas tellement les positions indépendantes qui posent question, mais surtout l'enchaînement qui ne semble pas très pratique.

    @@GillJazzTranscriptions Donc l'enchaînement saute, n'est-ce pas? Car pour le deuxième accord, plus de barré et le doigt jouant le fa n'est plus le même.

    Learn that block chord solo well, .... because you can actually do a lot with those very same shapes/ voicings. All kinds of very bluesy chord solos can be made. Keep an eye on the melody and bass lines, make those chord changes "Wes smooth". Pretty soon, you're makin' music.
