Loads of Americans on here saying how 'It's not funny' but a British sense of humour is very different to American comedy (though both are funny) but you have to understand the dry Brit humour to get it that's why it's the BRITISH version! Jimmy Carr is fucking hilarious :P

Izzy M Thanks! I've been watching the shit out of these. And I'm so sad I started with the British version. The USA one is funny and they do a good job, but not nearly as good as the UK one. I've seen some episodes three times now and I just can't get enough from the sheer happiness of those drunk Brits!!!

You are very right! I've watched Brit comedy sketches and shows since I was a kid and there is definitely a difference based on culture. Both versions can have a great narrator with a relative wide range of nuisance and broad mannerisms, as well as actors that give an ace performance which nails subtext and isn't overly literal AND still not appeal to both audiences. Comedy employs the ability to play on people's sympathies and shared experiences. If you can't connect there then it falls flat, no matter how good it is. So STFU narrow-minded louts! Heard your arguments before and it is boring.

Tom King? I think he meant Matthew King, that was the highwayman Dick Turpin worked with.
@Zer0Fox_gibbon
8 жыл бұрын
+GalidorDimension It's generally accepted that it's Matthew King but sometimes he's still referred to as Tom King, probably just a hangover from the fiction that shrouded the facts for a couple of 100 years. Same with the death. The generally accepted event is that the pair had stolen a horse and the owner reported it to a nearby inn keeper who helped track the horse to the stables of another inn called the red lion in Whitechapel. They waited and watched to see who came to collect the horse and it was another man, Matthew's brother, called Tome if we refer to King as Matthew but something else if we refer to him as Tom. but anyway he took them to where he was to drop the horse off near by and King was there, the inn keeper confronted him and King pointed a gun at his chest point blank and fired but it flashed in the pan and so he tried to pull another pistol but it was caught in his pocket and so he called to Dick who was on a horse just down the street to kill this guy or were fucked basically and so Turpin shot twice and missed the keeper and hit King and then rode off. But any way that's the general story of the event but others, like this one still crop up here and there.
everybody wants mat baynton to do this, fair
I adore Joe Lycett

***** They show and tell in the beginning of the whole video how much he drank... They can't get too drunk though, they have to be able to tell a story... There was this one comedian that had to quit because he couldn't stop vomiting, and he almost passed out I believe...
@HolandaChiquita

***** Em... Yeah, of course in the UK. Where did you think this was made, these historical tales and these actors are from? You can find the whole episodes online somewhere if you look for it...
@HolandaChiquita
7 жыл бұрын
***** Why would I do that? I was explaining how the Brits can hold their drink. And as proof of that statement I explained that they show and tell how much they drink, and the crew never tell the comedians to stop, only in this one case... And yes it's in the UK version. The particular comedian was a very slender, small, young chap...

Is... is that Luke Pasqualino?! 😂
Whoever this guy is that's reading is really cute! And very British.... The Ginger and light blue eyes... No idea who he is though. Can't believe he's a british actor as 96% of them (at least on current running programs I see) are rather... homely.

No! No! No like for you! (Not even a pity one.) That was the worse drunk inturruptation of Dick Turpin that I've ever heard. (True this may have been the only one.) But no! He didn't even sing the song! ( I thought everyone in England knew the Dick Turpin Folk Song!) Oh well. [Shrugs] Still bad Joe Lycett, bad, bad! ;p
This guy is funny, but the others Brits, that I have watched, have not been that funny. Makes me wonder how important the creator/host of the American version is to the show.
