Terry Daniels had a lot of heart and while being beaten displayed a lot of grit, the fight should have been stopped earlier

I was 13 when these guys fought. I grew up in the Philly suburbs so I read the result in the Philadelphia Inquirer as well as in the next issue of Ring Magazine. I have never watched a film of this fight until now, so I figured Daniels had just been a pushover who was lucky to land a good paycheck. Frazier was at his peak and doesn't need my accolades. What impresses me most is that Daniels fought hard and willingly got back on his feet to buck the odds as long as was physically possible or the referee would allow. Kudos to Daniels, who might have greatly benefited from another 20lbs of solid bodyweight. The days of elite heavyweights under 200lbs ended with Floyd Patterson.

Props to Daniels, who gave his all against an all-time great in Frazier.
Respect to Daniels man really came to fight despite being outgunned
Joe frazier! He's as real as it gets! Just a destroyer of a man.
They called Joe the truth machine! When you fought him you would find out the truth! Can you imagine that punching machine coming for you?
According to BoxRec, this fight began a 7-26 streak for Terry Daniels to end his career. He lost his last 7 fights and 13 of his last 14. His next fight after this one was a loss against Cleveland Williams for the Texas state title.
Well, he was tougher than Ziggy at least
Terry Daniel's was a REAL determined fighter . Joe Fraizer shook those blows off like a raging Pitt Bull & delivered more powerful blows to end it🥊
Daniels was a student at Southern Methodist University, just a few credits shy of graduating. The fact that a part-time fighter was suddenly ranked 'number 9' so that Frazier could have an easy payday shows you what kind of dishonesty was afoot back in the '70s.

Thats been the history of boxing since its inception, sometimes we as fans get lucky and get two great warriors but rarely does that happen anymore.
Mismatches happen, but ones this bad have the potential for a fatality!
Smokin' Joe...! Back when we still had REAL boxers in the ring. Can't stand to watch the BS I see in there now...and yes, this includes Fury, etc.

A great show by Terry Daniels. He gave it his all.
Daniels corner was very brave.
Joe Fraser was 12 lbs over weight and that’s what happens when you remain inactive and or don’t fight for a year.

Watching the fight to the end what a horrible job by that guys corner not stopping that fight and the ref totally disgusting they got him hurt bad!
Terry Daniels did not deserve a title shot here with Fraser. Fraser should’ve said I’m not fighting a fringe contender who lost to Floyd Patterson. If there was anyone who deserves a title shot it was Floyd Patterson not Daniels. It was in that fight Joe Fraser condition and endurance was in question.

Yup, the Ali fight took so much out of him. In a way he won the biggest to fight of all time. The pressure on him and Ali for that matter was insane.
When Terry Daniels started talking about psychoanalysis nonsense it's pretty clear this dude has no real game plan

Daniels wasn't talented enough for psycho-cybernetics to help him capture the title, but it may explain why he held up and kept fighting as long as he did. Coined psycho-cybernetics in the book of the same name-- published by American cosmetic surgeon Maxwell Maltz in1960-- is nothing to scoff at. It is merely a fancy name given the disciplined practice of mental imagery that is practiced in some form by a majority of elite athletes in all sports today. The idea is to repetitiously train the mind to guide the body to perform at its best by visualizing exactly what such a performance would look like,---from executing technical skills specific to your sport, down to the very color of your shoelaces. When enough physical training is coupled with long-term imagery practice, the subconscious brain no longer knows any performance less than one's peak. It won't make every practitioner a champion in their chosen sport, but most certainly has played an integral role in many athletes' winning a championship.
Esa fue bastante facil para el tio joe. Pero bueno. No deja de ser un archivo historico
I could see Frazier taking an easy one in Ron Stander, but not Daniels whom he outweighed by 30 lbs.
It's hard to believe there's No color copy of a World Heavyweight Championship fight from 1972 .....
Erm...when you talking about cybernetics before a fight ya probably out your depth 😅
In the those Days they put gloves on in Ring.
Daniels like Quarry, Ellis and Patterson was really only a Cruiserweight, but I don't believe the division existed at the time. While Patterson, Ellis and Quarry did very well at Heavyweight especially Floyd I believe they would have thrived in the Cruiserweight division, and likely dominated.
A Texan wearing pink trunks? Must be from Austin.
Frazier would still be a beast today. Daniels a.pretty decent fighter but overmatched..Took too many here.
Jeez frasier looked huge compared to daniels?!!

Daniels was only about 190 pounds; a small Cruiserweight by today's standards.

This was a one sided beat down! I give Daniels no credit whatsoever ( like some people are doing here). Frazier beat the man from pillar to post and beat him to pulp! Dropped him 5 times in 4 rounds! Not a contest!! 👊🏾🇳🇬👊🏾🇳🇬!
You
Why did Frazier fight these bums?
Un massacro
Arrogance by Terry Daniels claiming he is World Heavyweight Champion when in sparring, when he lost to Floyd Patterson 6 months earlier. A joke living in La La Land.

Man vs. Boy. Terry Daniels had a load of courage but had no business being in the ring with even a past-prime Frazier. But Frazier could not afford a tougher opponent in his first fight after he and Ali all but destroyed each other. Frazier was more affected because of his style and was never the same again.
