Oh it was racist. There is no doubt about it. Yes, people she can love her kids to death and STILL be racist. However, this is a TV show. This is Hollywood. The only colour they are about is GREEN. I mean is it a fundamentally racist construct built to privilege white over black? Yes, Like every institution in America it's built on a bigoted foundation. However, don't make the mistake of thinking that a network, that producers, that creators of show [YES] even black ones give two shits about taking a moral stance. They only care what will get them more viewers, keep the ones they have and please their advertizers. Mona Scott is not an activist, she's not a politician or a legislator. She's one of the most powerful producers of black content in America. They dont' care what Erica says or does. They don't care about projecting a more positive role model to the black community and the world. if they did, they wouldn't encourage, support and subsidize low rent, ratchet behaviour and make it seem super palatable and like it's the norm for every black household when it in fact is not. Now, don't get it twisted. I'm not saying I don't enjoy my own share of trashy reality TV or what have you. Who doesn't? We all deserve no brainer night with some "Too Hot to Handle" or what not. The problem is...despite there being a fair amount of high quality black content out there to choose from in 2023 ....THE most popular content is STILL LHATL or whatever is cookin up on Zeus with Chrisean n Blueface. At the end of the day... it doesn't serve anyone to look to the networks or the people on their payroll to be some kind of moral arbitrator. Anything they do is token at best and always self -serving and has verrrrry little to do with doing the right thing. The hypocrisy is at an all time high, so that's why I don't care if they fire Erica, renew her contract or give he a raise. It literally makes no difference because I have never in my life looked to ANY artist/creator/network...and I mean ANY...to provide society with a moral or legal compass. I consume art or entertainment if you will for a myriad of reasons and I am objective about who produces it. I have no fanatical or heartfelt attachment to any artist no matter what they have created. Because at the end of the day...they are just...PEOPLE...who actually [on the whole] are farrr more flawed then anyone can imagine. And cancel is the biggest fallacy of them all. Oh the public outcry around say R. Kelly or Bill Cosby was heard around the globe, yet John Lennon used to beat the shit outta Yoko Ono and that's a FACT...and Bing Crosby used to BEAT the crap outta his kids and that's a FACT, too ..i'm surprised they weren't paralysed....and I can walk into any mall come Christmas time and hear "White Christmas" and "Happy Xmas/War is Over" blaring in every store. Aerosmith's Steven Tyler literally got a mother to sign over guardianship of her minor so she can come on tour with them as one of their groupies and his lover. So miss me with the BS, please...because I was just on Spotify and all these deviants are still making money and so are the platforms that support them. Why? We know that talking about someones child does not equate a racist reply however its too close to the heart to not expect an explosive answer .i really dont think Ericas answer was racially motivated ,it would then mean shes procreating with a race she feels superior to .I think this was a good gateway for further conversation on how we treat and speak to each other and others as a people .We attack other races like its an entittlement .Talking to my husband behind my back and my son who you know is off limits so much that hes not on the show with me is enough to trigger most people ,more so a hot mouth like Erica .I think a warning with suspension should be done before termination .

I agree with you but this is not her first time calling dark skinned women monkey's. Had it been the first time I'd totally agree that it was just saying anything. She has a history of 2 other situations using that slur. My issue is more with Mona Scott. You aired it baby!!

Right it became a norm for her , obivilous to the fact that it was racist and no one pulled her aside and educated her on it .According to behaviorist ,the ABC of behavior change is based on the antecedent and the consequence .Now its picked up on tv and against a black woman who have the support of her fans its sanctioned .Its like we giving her 3 strikes and out ,when she was not previously warned or convicted .I am not focusing on Mona cause she benefited from it .Erica have alot of grounds to seek legislative support .I think thats why she staying very quiet .For one ,she was obviously not in the best mental state when she entered that conversation with Spice 2 Spice did provoke her ,we know what is offensive to us as a people but we also have to respect what might be offensive in other cultures .She just had two babies in a short time there could be underlying factors to consider ,eg post partum ,depression ,PTSD etc .She did her job as instructed ,the producers and the management team bought it to our television and did not at the time take any action ,there s so much moving parts to consider here .

Erica knows its a racist and offensive thing to say, she's a grown woman, who's been in the culture for a long time to be oblivious. Nobody should have to pull her aside and educate her on anything. She knows what shes saying and what she's doing. Its who she is.
