One thing a lot of older women don't like to talk about is 'trauma'. They like to call it 'seasoning' that they claim younger women lack. A lot of older women like Mel (and she's admitted this) are damaged. That damage comes out in different ways during the course of the dating phase and into the relationship. The 'open book' vibe, not having all these hard walls up and not bringing in bitterness from past failed relationships and the assumption that you might be something like their exes, is what some of those men like. It ain't always about trying to groom her or him having arrested development.

I don't think a lot of educated women who have good careers are walking around with children out of wedlock. In many instances of western culture going back to the 1960s and further many adults would consider marrying a 14 - 17 post pubescent minor as normal , however as society developed these ideals and arrangements have been looked at as taboo and predatory. I added this to say that are people of both genders who sexual both pre and post pubescent children/minors and wait for them to become of legal age to become sexually active without the risks of becoming a registered sex offender by child molestation or statutory rape. TL DR. Sexual Predators tend to use this term when justifying either manipulation or coercion to sleep with people who had just turned the age of consent.

I’d like to know if this would be ok with you as the parent. We talk about issues differently until they actually impact us personally. History shows us that there is always some reason why an extremely older person romantically dates someone much much younger. They vary on a spectrum. I’m wary of it as it pertains to maturity and time of the younger person. Bottom line question for me is whether or not this person is good for my daughter, son, niece, nephew? What’s the intent of the relationship? Some things you have to let play out and pray for the best. Experienced this personally and I understand it’s more nuanced than the aesthetic of it.
