When mobsters are often portrayed, they hardly have this accent, running the risk of looking like a caricature. But this was the standard accent for most of the old world mobsters and bosses! Don't forget most of them were born in Italy and lived on an italian speaking household and neighborhood for a long time. Also, excellent interview, Bonanno breathes tradition and moustache pete stuff! Now Bill Bonanno looks incredibly different! But he's still from the Mafia, don't get me wrong
Im a jeweler and one day a guy comes into my store to have me work on a piece of jewelery...most of time I do it right then but I needed some time on this piece,so I put it in the envelope and he had to leave it a couple hours.......his last name was bonanno and I just said,I know this name and with a very sly smile he just smiled at me,he was one of them bonnanos in this family. He came back later and picked up what I repaired and Ive never seen him again.

Thus the name Mafia came from that saying. MORTE ALLA FRANCIA ITALIA ANELLA. A little History lesson. In Italy they call it Mafia, in the States it's LA Cosa Nostra. @@RK-qh3ll Nothing of what you said changes the fact that the mob has been praying on their own people for over a century. Extortion is the perfect example of that. And don’t even get me started on the Camorra or the Sicilian mafia. They’ll kill relatives to enemies too. How fucking honourable. And what about other ethnic “mobs” who deal in human trafficking etc. Should I change my mind about those too? Bro, if you think being a career criminal who spends his entire life leeching off other people and avoid contributing to society (ie paying taxes etc), then go ahead, be my guest. The American mob has been glorified for years because of movies and books. The cool Brooklyn accents, the food, men of honour and all that good stuff… it’s just a distraction. THEY ARE CAREER CRIMINALS, pure and simple. I say it again, if you or your family would fall prey to one of these animals (who btw chose their life and are responsible for their decisions), you’d probably change your naive view of these guys. @@joetreetop5960 Joakim I agree that they were glorified by Holkywood 100%. Hollywood made them all look sophisticated & cool. In that same breath I think there are also many folks who use the Italian Mafia (or Irish or Polish) to downplay their own ethnic gangs. Having lived around some of the areas where they operated I can tell you that you are correct they do sign up for it..which is the code they sign on to, which in turn is why they face death when they break that code. These guys (on most occasions) are not standing on a corner antagonizing passers by - they're not in dance clubs throwing bottles at people with 20 of their friends - they're not driving by and shooting at a house with children in it. The Mafia has hit men, who get their target (most cases) whereas other ethnicities, as you mentioned, have 4 stoned & drunk members shooting your house, your neighbors house, into a gas station - they're sloppy and do not care. So I guess our perspectives are just different - I know that as long as there's vice, as long as humans are human and enjoy drugs, sex, gambling etc then there will always be an underwold element to provide it. IMO you go with the Devil you know. Its apples to oranges and the choice is clear. A mafioso who makes his dirty money and prefers you don't know about it..then takes his dirty money and maybe opens a resteraunt, car wash etc (many have children in legit biz) OR maybe a Haitian who somehow doesnt understand that him and 15 friends standing on a corner with machette's is bad for business. Ive seen both, I know what I'd prefer to have around (lets face it they arent going anywhere)
I love Sicília
Thanks to his book and Secret talks Joe and Bill handed Guilliano the Commission case.

Ironically Giuliani ends up serving another crime boss, except his boss is a pussi.

You mean Guilliani, Guilliano was the Sicilian Robin Hood killed in Palermo in 1951. Check him out he is legendary, and very much loved by the Italian people. Mario Puzzo wrote a book about him, The Sicilian. Also a movie by the same name.

Bonanno put down publicly and on paper, published in his own name, the existence of a commission. The justification of passage of RICO. Gotti did not bring down the Italian mob. It was primarily Bonanno's book.
