@@jayfbee - Details of Spilotro murders revealed in mob trial by Bill Dwyer, August 14, 2007 [excerpt] "Unlike in the movie Casino, in which Anthony Spilotro, played by Joe Pesci, is beaten with a baseball bat, there was no forensic evidence that the men had been buried alive, or beaten with bats. Calabrese said he tackled Michael Spilotro and held his legs while another mobster strangled him with a rope. He said he heard Tony Spilotro ask his executioners, “Can I say a prayer?” There was no reply. The brothers’ corpses were driven to a cornfield on the outskirts of Enos, Ind. by Fecarotta and others for burial. On June 23, their grave was found by a farmer. Investigators found the viciously beaten bodies-bruised from head to ankle-under five feet of earth. Forensic pathologist Dr. John Pless testified last month that autopsies of the Spilotros, in which he took part, determined that multiple blunt trauma injuries to the head, neck and chest-most likely the result of punches and kicks, not bats-caused the brothers’ deaths. The Spilotros, Pless added, died partly as a result of their lungs and airways being so full of blood, they couldn’t breathe. The day after the bodies were found, the Chicago Archdiocese ruled that the Spilotros could not be given a Catholic funeral at St. Bernardine in Forest Park because of their links to organized crime. Following a private service in a cemetery chapel at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, June 27, they were buried in the family plot. The day before the burial, three of the Spilotros’ alleged killers, Ferriola, Infelice and Marino, attended their wake at Salerno’s Galewood Chapels on North Harlem Avenue. ..."

I remember reading a Maxim article that interviewed the son of Spilotro. He said for years into teen/adulthood he wanted to get revenge but realized one day it wasn't possible. Michael Franzese is right when he says this life devastates families and there is no happy ending. Your family would rather have you alive and "poor" than dying a horrible death or rotting in prison for a few "rich" years.

Never understood that revenge business when it comes to the mob, they know what they are getting into,my brother was one of those that loved going into a bar and picking a fight and we was great with his fists but if he had gotten killed one of those times, not my problem, thats what he gets for doing that, luckily he saw the error of his ways when he got older and quit doing stupid things like that, do stupid things win stupid prizes, lol

It wouldn't have ended well for young Vincent Spilotro had he tried to go ahead with revenge on anyone in the Chicago mob. First of all he wouldn't know who to hit as nobody knew who killed the brothers. Second of all there were ten mobsters the day of the Spilotro murders and ALL of them were hardened, experienced, killers that had lived the life and were still very active at that point. Vincent only saw the life from the outside. Had Vincent gone ahead with any kind of revenge killing he would have likely met the same fate as his Father and his Uncle. Anthony did not want that for Vincent. He wanted him to go in a different direction. That was probably because Vincent wasn't cut out for the mob life like A.J Sopranno. It wasn't in his nature. Anyway justice was done. Most of those mobsters were locked up for long jail terms and died in prison. Had Anthony and Michael lived they would have also met the same fate behind bars, and rightfully so.

@@spenser6353 well that's not true. A lot of victims were victims of extortion first and pressured to open businesses for the mob where they'd get screwed, and sometimes killed. Others needed a loan and couldn't get one from a bank, which wasn't so easy for lower middle class families back then, and then they couldn't pay the predatory loan shark his payments and were made an example of. That's one thing we don't really talk about, the family members left behind after getting murdered by the mob, which we see them committing in one of the many films that glorify the life, which we all love watching, so when I see a family member talking about what happened to their family after they found out who and why they got killed, considering they were part of a different kind of family, but this one was ment to have strict rules about killing one another, i.e. it shouldn't be done, but is, and when it is done, it'll be your so-called best friend that pulls the trigger if your lucky that is, cos the two Spilotro brothers didn't have a quick, or painless death, and that's the thanks they get for years of profitable service to the family, see this alone should put people off from wanting to be apart of it, as we know not many make it to retirement age, if by some miracle they do then it'll mostly be spent in prison, which will have its upsides to it, like not having to worry about rent, or how to pay for your next meal, or having to find 1000s each week to pay the bosses, so at least they might be able to sleep abit better, unless they are put next to a gang rival, then it might not be a easy retirement.

The day before the burial, three of the Spilotros’ alleged killers, Ferriola, Infelice and Marino, attended their wake at Salerno’s Galewood Chapels on North Harlem Avenue. ..."

The mob didn’t condone his behaviour as far as bringing attention to the family and getting caught. But if he had still tortured and murdered all those people but kept it out of the spotlight, they wouldn’t have cared! As an example, one of the front bosses, Joey Aiuppa was a blood thirsty killer himself and ordered countless hits as boss!

It’s a line from a DeNiro gangster movie called “Once Upon A Time In America.” DeNiro plays a Jewish street thug whose crew gets the attention of the Mafia. His friends are impressed by the Italians’ money and power but he wants little to do with them and says to one of his boys: “One day they send you to get rid of him…then they send me to get rid of you.” Art imitates life, I guess, in a life where your “friend” might be “asked” to kill you or die himself🫣🫣🫣😳

Aiuppa loved the Spilotoro bros, according to a Cullotta anyway. He’s stated that if Aiuppa would have Ben on the street at the time they’d have lived. He also (according to him) told investigators when they were were first reported missing, they were dead

I remember Hoagie's very well. My grandfather owned a bar one block east of Hoagie's in the 6800 block of North Ave., and my parents owned a bar another four blocks east of that in the 6400 block, where my mom, stepdad, sisters and I all lived upstairs. I remember frequently asking my mom to take me and my sisters to go to Hoagie's, and she would reply, "honey, we don't go there." The windows were always blacked out, too, and us neighborhood kids would dare each other to go inside. I don't know anyone who was brave enough to do so.

Quote: "What does that say to you?" It says TO ME the Chicago Family was the only one in the States that managed to get shit done the right way - quietly and without witnesses. You broke that cardinal rule, you were a dead man walking. They were the only family that didn't have to deal drugs to make millions. People would just vanish and that was it - the end. At least...until Aiuppa and Accardo were around. After that - they just become "one of the many."

@@spenser6353 well that's not true. A lot of victims were victims of extortion first and pressured to open businesses for the mob where they'd get screwed, and sometimes killed.
