    4 жыл бұрын

Heck yeah! SPOILERS I LOVED the ending and how Bayaz really actually won and everything went as he planned. I really really liked it how his power wasn't just a boast and the thing I loved the most is that the way he won was not particularly through sheer physical power, but he manipulated the people and the society on his little chess board in a way that he didn't really need to do much of anything powerful to win, but he still dabbled in the darkest arts for his own satisfaction and mastery of magic. He strongly reminds me of Hasan Ibn Saba, who might have been an inspiration for Bayaz, who knows. Vladimir Bartol wrote the historic novel Alamut (which I HIGHLY recommend btw) in which Hasan Ibn Saba is in a sense just like Bayaz tricking his subjects and manipulating them, but his philosophy of nihilism and ubermensch morality/lifestyle is what drives his actions and gives him the strength. Very much so like Bayaz himself.

I thought the world was fun, though unspectacular, and the plot was a decent twist on the usual tropes. Congrats on another huge name interview Daniel, and thanks to Joe Abercrombie for taking the time!
