Fantastic interview! “Rich and vivid characters doing horrible things to one another”: sounds like a First Law book, in fact! I hope to avoid wetting my pants, but I anticipate I’ll have the rest of those possible reactions once I read the exciting conclusion of Age of Madness. Congratulations on this, Ed and Will!

Hahah, well then you would have let Joe Abercrombie succeed! "Make of your heart a stone" it seems is going to be my motto to stop the emotional pain of The Wisdom of Crowds. Somehow I do not think it will work. Unless we actually get that Disney ending... Thanks so much! We owe it to The Broken Binding, and cannot actually believe we got this chance! Ed & Will

One of the best things about Abercrombie (as I am on my 3rd relisten to A.O.M.) is the repeatability2.5 yrs later, you can can go right back in. I've never laughed so much in my life than when listening to Pacey do Abercrombie...Idk if it's the material, the narrator or both but I'm way too spoiled to just read them atp.

Having watched a number of author interviews on booktube channels, Abercrombie just has that something which makes him a top-tier interviewee. Today I just happened to stumble upon The Wisdom of Crowds in regular paperback format, both of my Gollancz sets (which have the superior covers) 1st Law and Age of Madness match and are complete. Only 4 more Wheel of Time books to go and then it's all Abercrombie.

@@thebrothersgwynne Yep, it’s a full royal flush. I think I know what it is with Abercrombie’s “style” of answering questions: it’s almost as if he’s on the verge of being “amusingly annoyed”, but then he lands a subtle quip which you hardly notice, but do notice and move on feeling like the joke half flew over you. Great interview!

I happen to be one of those people that read the stand-alone books out of order. Best Served Cold is the first book I read in this world. It made sense, it was thoroughly enjoyable! I did not feel confused, not much at least. ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE less confusing that reading Gardens of the Moon, for example. I would say, it’s probably best to read in order but not necessary. However it’s kinda like blocks. First three books are 1 block, next three books are each a block, and the last three books are 1 block. So, 5 blocks total that could in theory be swapped around and still make sense to the reader.
