As a 40 yr old retired marine, TRT saved my life. Not only in addition to giving me energy, but also fixed my depression in addition to mental focus and clarity and fixed shoulder pain from a dislocation back in 2013. There's a lot of health benefits that are being ignored that are important for us older guys.

Very interesting, you definitely don't hear those kinds of stories very often in regards to TRT. I'm curious: I understand that TRT gave you the energy or 'motivation', for lack of a better word, to take action on the issues, but surely just taking TRT wasn't the only thing you did. What other changes to your routine did you make? Change your diet at all? Cut out certain things or people?

@@RM-ee6lw those stories are actually very common for people who use trt. You will likely see a bigger difference if you are in the low testosterone range than if you are in the normal or high normal range because you are going from being deficient to being at an optimal level. It’s not the same as being on 500 mg of testosterone per week but it can definitely make you more motivated than trying “natural” alternatives. It’s not for everyone though.

This vid is total class. Jocko realizes that Derek’s not being an asshole and he doesn’t shit on him at all. I mean, the nature of ‘natty-or-not’ vids is speculation and Derek has admitted as much many times before. It’s just a bit of fun, in my opinion. Totally understandable to want to dispel rumors when you’re held up as an ideal to many (especially young) people.

You're not wrong but I kinda wanted to fight Derek for his not very well reasoned answer on this one. Hell even citing Royce's fight with Saku shows a ton of ignorance about that fight

Natty or not videos are stupid and f*cking annoying, they're not "fun". Their entire premise essentially undercuts the hard work and discipline 99% of people with great physiques put into looking the way they do. Whether outright verbalized or not, those videos are essentially saying those people attained their physiques through drugs alone. At least that's how most of the population that's ignorant to everything that goes into being fit and healthy ends up believing.

  • @richardnash6111

@@kevinpeoples376 tbf Derek never suggests that. He's pretty realistic on the limitations of gear on someone that doesn't respond to it and talks up how much work it is regardless. But yea many people hear gear/juice head and assume limited effort was put forth to acquire gains. Generally the gear only allows the user to put forth the effort needed for said gains and allows the body to properly use the proteins to create the new muscle.

I grew up with low T. It had cause so many other issues besides being unable to gain muscle, like depression. I went on TRT. In my opinion it's not that simple. There are a lot of consequences to acknowledging steroids use if you've been in an organization that in theory bans them, as well as the fact that in the us they're technically illegal. Not to mention the impact it may have on teenagers that are not mature enough to understand that in war there are no rules. Hence, while I'm a big fan of Jocko I think he's just doing what most pde users in the us do. Just political correctness, even though you need to lie

  • @aaronstanley474

    @aaronstanley474

    Жыл бұрын

@John Carlevaro I mean your not wrong, but I’ve personally squatted 315 for 18 reps, and I’ve never taken anything before so imo anecdotally, the numbers he is throwing out seem legit and natural, and I was able to get to that with about 4 to 6 months worth of work. Now that may be a far cry from 400lbs for 10 but not nearly as much as you think, I could probably at that time do like 355 for maybe 10, it has alot more to do with conditioning at higher rep ranges on a squat as opposed to strength and just overall conditioning really. When I did 18 I had to warm up to it and it was the last set. Afterwards I puked and had to lay in a puddle of my own sweat for about 30min because I was so dizzy and nauseous. Most people don’t do 20 rep squats so the don’t know but it can really pay dividends if you do it just do it once or twice a month for a couple months.

I was in Regular Army Units that deployed (2ACR, 3ID, 3ACR) between 2004-2010 and we had some soldiers (a few) that used steroids and admitted to it. I remember we got drug tested (pot, opioids, cocaine) and when anyone popped hot we were told. I do not remember ever being told someone popped for PED's or anyone getting Article 13'd or court-martialed/kicked-out for steroids. I can sympathize with Jocko because I was a stocky guy who ate a lot and lifted and walked around at 220-230 (natural). Some of the juicers asked me if I juiced or where I "got mine" after they saw me squat or deadlift.

This is a pretty fair and balanced response. No hurt egos, just this was in the video and this is my response. I respect that a lot. Derek doesn't have bad intentions with his videos and it seems to me that you guys know this too. He's often said he doesn't really like doing Natty or Nots but they get a lot of views and people ask for them so he throws them up every now and then. Derek's primary content is educational. I follow Derek's content daily and the dude reminds me regularly that I'm a moron because I don't understand half the stuff he says, but I figure if I listen long enough my brain might actually start retaining the information haha. It is all pretty damn interesting though, and if the Natty or Not is all somebody knows about Derek then it's not really a great representation of his channel at all and I'd highly recommend checking him out.

Here is the whole problem with the subject. Even in this discussion there is a stigma associated with it. There is a big difference between " doing steroids" and being on TRT. He is 50 years old, I would hope he was on TRT and if he is not now he will eventually because as you age your test drops, just the way it is, part of the ageing process. But we now live in a world that we don't have to have a shitty quality of life. Lot more goes in to this conversation. It is just disappointing that there is such a negative stimga with it because there are a lot of people that will benefit greatly from TRT and it has saved a lot of lives I.e. depression, relationships, work ethic et...

I just don't believe TRT is necessary if a person has maintained a healthy natural foundation their whole life. From the info I came across, TRT is for people who used roids in their past and their natural hormone production has not been able to recover to the same level before the roids as a result. But obviously we should decide for ourselves, follow our intuitions and individual freedoms

seriously. I don't get it either. Why would you get kicked out of your military organization for it, anyway? It'd only help you do your job better. It's not about integrity, it's about common sense. It's not like enemies of our nation are testing their soldiers for performance enhancement... If your enemies only use AK-47s because that's all they can afford, would you limit your own army to use only AK-47's instead of using better weapons because of "integrity"? OTOH I do agree with Mitch Jacob above me. A lot of "regular" people (by which I mean your average adult who works a desk job) who are still young (late 20s, or 30s) are too quick to get on TRT before even trying out the basics e.g. working out regularly, getting good sleep, working on their diet, etc

I don't think that that would be as good an idea as you think it is. One,steroids(AND HGH) are illegal and two, their usage brings all kinds of unhealthy and damaging side effects. You think it's an accident that so many bodybuilders and wrestlers from the WWE(formerly the WWF) have died in their forties and fifties? I'd personally rather be healthy and natural than juiced up on gear. But I do think that steroid use in the U.S. military is much more prevalent than Jocko thinks it is.He's been out for 11 years and he may have friends who are still in but like Echo said, that was a different day. Also, steroid use is reportedly quite prevalent in the British Army and the SAS and SBS,too.

And religion doesn’t have to be defined as something someone takes and tries to provoke the masses into following. Here's what I understand; Jocko is a very accomplished man and most of his accomplishments came during his time in the military. Due to these accomplishments and his insane work ethic, he serves as a role model to many. It won't serve anyone good to openly admit to steroid use (if he did). I'm certain drug use within the military is strictly prohibited on paper and to the outside world, but the restrictions are more lax among the ranks. It's just what it is.

  • @chadguru9565

Having spent some time in the military, many folks in special operations units do take steroids and jab each other. When the safety of your peers and the outcome of a battle could potentially be at stake, who gives a shit if you're taking steroids? The military DOES NOT test for steroids on a routine basis, and unless there is a very glaring suspicion, it's likely you'd never get caught. And especially in special operations, it's well known, and leaders are happy to look the other way. And I have nothing against it.
