Jockey stopping a horse from winning (Lingfield Greyed A)

Jockey Richard Johnson stopping his horse "Greyed A" from winning in the 1:20 at Lingfield on the - 14/11/17
Blatant none trier and did anything get done?? nope. not even looked into by the stewards. No doubt the excuse being the horse had something up with it. but will be posting more videos of these blatant none triers. they can't all have something up with them.
Watch as he sits in a prominent position, then takes it to the lead with a circuit to go, then watch in amazement as he just sits on it and then pulls it up. the commentator tries to mask it by claiming its dropped away, anyone with a brain can see its only there for a run round.
Cheating bastards!

    This horse has had breathing problems when in Ireland.He had a soft pallet op after this race then upped a further 6f and won.There is absolutly zero evidence of the horse been stopped in this race but to the untrained eye everything looks different.

    This is a reason why he is a champion! He felt something from the horse that we did not detect on screen and the part that is noble about pulling him up was not injuring the horse, himself or anyone else on the course! It's refreshing to see a race where the concern is for the horse and not the purse!

    Wrong, if the horse is done for then down tools by all means, nothing against a jockey doing that. This however was pulled up after he was done schooling it in public ffs, Johnson is a good horseman there's no denying that, but he's the go to jockey for "teaching" it everyone knows that. This horse won 3 times within 10 months after this, absolutely p*ssed in by 30l in one of them.

    If you'd done some actual research (I know that's not a word you know) you'd realise that this was the horse's debut over fences. He was joint top weight in a novices handicap chase. He started to drift back down the field and then made a mistake down the back straight (which somehow you missed).

  • @MoniekRedhead

    Just a question from someone who isn't familiar with hurdle races (but with flat racing). If this was his debut on fences, how can he be top weighted? I'm thinking he's an ex racehorse that had maybe a high handicap general weight and that weight is being (partly) used when he starts his debut on fences??? If not like this, would you mind explaining it to me? I did see the horse getting tired and having to drag himself over the fences but I see it later in the video when he's already at the back. I noticed him getting tired at 3.15. And what was the mistake he made? Thanks in advance for your answer

  • @seanscanlon9067
    @seanscanlon90676 жыл бұрын

    You do realise right that "stopping" a horse means to prevent it winning when it could have? At no time in the race did Greyed A ever look like winning and the fact that 7 runners from a field of 12 were pulled up, suggests the ground wasn't very good during this race. The horse was travelling well enough early on when they were not going at racing pace but later made a few jumping errors that caused it to drop back, and the fact that Richard Johnson pulled it up rather than giving it a hard race to still finish well beaten, meant it was able to win its very next race. The horse was 3/1f in this race and 15/8 2nd fav next time when it won, so it's not even as if they got a better price to have a gamble on the next time it ran. I also find it quite amusing that anyone would think Richard Johnson would wait 20 or so years to finally be crowned Champion Jockey and then suddenly start stopping horses!

    this guy is a buffoon. He thinks because the horse and rider have won races before they should win every race they're in or he's pulling off the horse. Rubbish. The horse got a peek at 1st place for about 3 strides and then fell right back at the next jump and though you see the rider urging humanely, the horse tosses head left and right saying "FUCK YOU!!! NO!!!!" so he sat back and said 'well fuck it then.'

    Didn't bet in this race so can give an impartial opinion. The view that the horse is tiring doesn't add up because at no time does Johnson apply any pressure to it to really find out if it's got anything left, not even 2 or 3 shakes of the reigns. That I'm afraid is very suspect. If it was a lesser known jockey on this horse I think this ride would be seriously investigated (I'm assuming it wasn't). What was the official explanation from the trainer and/or Johnson?

  • @callangraham4614
    @callangraham46146 жыл бұрын

    This is ridiculous. The horse won next time out off of a 2lb lower mark in deeper ground over further. What you're seeing here is a horse get outpaced in the middle part of the race and a jockey understanding that fact and being sensible instead of rowing the two ears off it and risking injury by throwing it at fences. It won 28 days later at a shorter price (drifting from 6/4 to 15/8) in a less valuable race under the same jockey. I've no doubt there's corruption in horse racing this certainly isn't an example of it.

    Completely sour grapes, this was the horses 1st attempt at chasing, likes to lead, but us also prone to getting lack lustre in its races and pulling up. Why it was 3/1 fav in this race is the big mystery, Johnson knows more about racing and how a horse feels or even rides, so never rode the hell out of it, as the horse wasn’t on a going day. Next time out at Fontwell with Johnson aboard over further on heavy the horse lead all the way, no abnormal betting patterns, opened up joint favourite drifted a tad and went off 15/8, nothing bothered the horse and allowed it an uncontested lead, unlike this race. It then won its next race at Fontwell, leading all the way again, this time with Twiston-Davies up top. All in all this horse PU 6 times in 22 rules races, so had a tendency to not have its whole mind on the job in hand.

    It happens all the time across the board in racing, as there's too much money to be made from bookies to Jockeys and Trainers. More than the race itself is worth. So do you not think that a few of them are going to take the backhander, rather than try to win the actual race? I've seen races and dodgy results that you wouldn't believe over the years of watching Horse and Dog racing. Do we all stop gambling? Very rarely and if we do do, we end up going back to the bookies eventually. As long as there's extra money to be made on the side, you'll always have corruption in sport. Racing, is no exception!

    Poor to see I understand that. But it goes on every race every day, without this there wouldn't be any horse racing as owners wouldn't invest (some owners), prize money is horrendous compared to the cost of keeping a horse in training. Way to stop it: change the handicapping system drastically.However this race, dicky maybe felt the horse wasn't itself, meaning something could be wrong internally. He could have seen the horse bleeding. He could have felt something go. Or maybe he knew the horse had no more to give. There are much clearer evidence than this video.I have horses myself, Italian riviera and beeno

    Horses aren't machines. It might have spread a plate or something more serious. The well being of the animal comes first and foremost and is the jockey's responsibility when out on the course. Your opinion simply boils down to ignorance.

    He never asked the horse for a effort they was all going ok on the bridle he never pushed or whipped it once just let it drift out of shot if the horse was struggling you would of seen it but no eventually comes round the bend pulled up he could of pulled up a lot earlier if the horse was distressed he stopped riding which actually causes the horse to make a mistake

    you need to learn how to read a book before you try reading a race. That horse was not stopped. if you have a clue how to read form you will see that 2m4f was far to short a distance on soft ground. The horse needed 3m plus on heavy ground to see him at his best. he won his next 2 races over 3 miles plus but at no time was he gambled on. He simply could not go the race pace for a 2 and a half mile race. He is a slow boat and in my opinion the jockey did nothing wrong apart from not give the horse a hard race and save him for an other day. and there is no rules broken looking after a horse's future welfare.

    incorrect. The horse was jumping fine until it ran out of steam and then it was like 'fuck this' and the jockey knew he would not clear another fence so he pulled off. Simple.. happens all the time.. Try evaluating a kentucky derby or one of the other 2... different race.

    In the early 90's I helped Dave Nevison set up his first Internet site called 'Racing Today'. He had a collaborator (apparently a titled fellow, who wanted to remain anonymous) who used to watch for horses that were being 'tenderly ridden' in the NH races. These were consequently targeted for opportunities for investment at later outings. One memorable horse "Where's the Mexican gone" at 66/1, there were many more. The fact that this horse (Greyed-A) won the next time out could be an indication of this but it could just have been having a bad day. Each horse has a unique personality and with some, you cannot force them to perform, they rebel and it can be difficult for the trainer to restore the animal if this is done. It is the ones that have not been heard of before that are the ones to watch for and this was always done early in the NH season, and you have to at the race to see its performance and pre race inspection in the paddock. I am reminded of one of Nevison's own horses 'Young Frederick, (trained by Karl Burke)' that ran on the all-weather and was charging home (at 33/1) when the jockey seemed to pull the horse right and it lost by a nose. Nevison was livid but couldn't prove a thing. Next time out Young Frederick was 4/1 in a night race at Wolverhampton and performed miserably. It was discovered that he had a hairline fracture in the leg that had been sustained in the previous race (I think it was Southwell). There is no doubt in my mind that corruption exists in Horse Racing but it is very difficult to prove.

    This is called 'gray racing' at least around here.. it's not necessarily frowned upon but it is a dirty way of predicting place. The horses don't like some tracks. Some like to run on dirt but not grass, etc.. sometimes it's just them throwing an attitude that day.. bad mood.. stomach ache, sore muscles. whatever.. think of the things that make you grumpy without outside influence. Pretty much the same for horses. So on the tracks the horses don't like, they're ridden 'tenderly' usually with a middle of the pack finishing, but the horse did not exert itself very much, so the NEXT race, it will be a little MORE rested than other horses that have been running similar schedules. Next race is MUCH more likely to place.

Your claim is ridiculous, and, possibly tantamount to defamation to the character of Richard Johnson. Sorry to sound off like that, but people who publish such things obviously have no idea about the consequences of their actions. Thank you for your time...

    What a complete load of bollocks! You shouldn't be allowed to actually post shit like this! The fact that you lost a few quid is just tough luck- if the stewards had thought there was anything sinister, they would have pulled him in, and gone from there- to suggest he stopped it, was totally ludicrous. Surely if a jockey is going to stop one, he'd finish about 5th or 6th, appearing to be trying throughout, not tailing off where it's visible to everyone! The horse wasn't travelling...simple as.
