8:35 So, there is no boss with literally 3.000.002 health but there is a recorded instance where a boss put every party member into time stop but he died to the Healer's Damage Over Time spell, so he's right on principle that all damage matters, even the seemingly insignificant ones.

The "Too Fast" enrage is Ifrit EX. Basically it keeps spawning Infernal Nails that you need to drestroy throughtout the fight or else his big attack will wipe the party. However if you damage him too much too fast you'll hit the threshold to trigger the attack before even getting a chance to deal with the nails and be obliterated.

Its more the old version of the ARR extremes. Back then they used their ultimates immediately if pushed beyond specific health thresholds and instantly wiping the party if the requirements to survive weren't met. Garuda had her 2 partners that had to fall, ifrit did 3 infernal nail phases each more difficult than the last, Leviathan had the bubble adds and shield, Ramuh had his adds charging him up, Shiva had her golems, moggle mog auto enrages after 3 rounds of healing his moogle followers. Titan is the oddball out on the 'go too fast' enrages back in the day

To add to this, this is only an issue if you're doing it at a much higher level than it was intended for. The game will automatically sync you down to the level any content is intended for, but you can turn this option off in order to steamroll old content with less players or even solo. That is the only time this becomes an issue, and really only in this fight.

Don't feel overwhelmed by the hotbars you see in these videos; they are taken from max level jobs (which is currently 90). You are introduced to them slowly over the levels, with plenty of time to get used to each new one, so it's really not bad. At least, for the jobs that start at level 1, which you have no choice but to start as. Later in the game, you'll get access to jobs that start at 30, 50, 60, and 70 respectively, but only once you have something else at that level (and in the case of the level 30 ones, have completed the entire base game's main story and made it to the first expansion). And by then, you should (hopefully) be more comfortable with how the game works and still not have any problems (if you even want to play those jobs; it's completely optional to even unlock them, let alone play them).

@@Airier The specific dungeon might've been a small factor, but it's mostly the fact that a huge majority of the playerbase wants to play a DPS class, so there's literally too many of them trying to find a party at once lol. I think a lot of people have the misconception that tanks and healers are either too stressful because of the responsibility they have, or think they must be boring because they wanna play the MMO like an action game and just do damage constantly lol. But I've found in this game specifically that Tanks and Healers still have plenty to do, since as you've seen in these vids, they need to be doing damage as much as possible as well, so the misconception probably comes from their experience with other MMOs

If you are going to be starting FFXIV, I highly recommend watching the Endwalker Job Actions. It's the most up-to-date of showing off all the jobs you can play and what they can do. I do also wanna give a fair warning when it comes to starting FFXIV and that it can be a slog if you don't read and pay attention to what's happening, which makes the payoff, in the end, all the more satisfying. JoCat did do a video on how his experiences in FFXIV were how he came to love it, and I highly recommend it if you want to watch as well.

I haven’t seen anyone mention this yet but your confusion about “higher level players” is understandable. Basically there is a system in place that automatically syncs you down to the maximum level cap for the Dungeon, Trial or Raid that you are doing, your gear’s Item Level is also synced down similarly

If you're looking to get into FF14, JoCat himself has a video of his troubled starting experience and explains how you can best start it ("So I Wanna Talk About How It Took Me 300 Hours To Like FFXIV (and how you can too in far less time)"), and goes over both the good and the bad aspects of the game. It is quite long, but if you're able to make a reaction of it without being an actual player yet, that would be quite a video. Also if you are or used to be a WoW player (and I think I recall you were), Jesse Cox also has a great video comparing the two called "15 years of WoW vs 1 year of FFXIV", which goes over some different aspects and might explain how to approach the game in a bit more familiar terms :)

The good news regarding button overload is most classes start with just a few buttons and then gradually spoonfeed you new buttons over the course of several dozen levels so you can slowly work them into muscle memory. So you have time to get your head around the basics, then you get handed new toys to figure out.

  • @MegaErik1990
    @MegaErik1990 Жыл бұрын

About the thing with the tooltips: When you start at Lvl 1 you only have 1 skill you can use (at least when starting a new character). The amount grows slowly with your level ups so you have plenty of time to get used to the skills. Yes, on max level there are many skills but until then you normally have them memorized. At least the ones you use the most. It' a little different for the newer jobs that came in the game with the add ons. Reaper, for example, came in with the Endwalker expansion und you start with level 70 on him so there will be many skills already (and you need another job on lvl 70 to unlock). But until then you are definetly used to the system and should have the patience to read them and to adjust the skills on your skillbars. For me the main concept how to play the jobs is really intuitive. How the combos work, what they do, etc. The fine tuning for maximum damage comes later and should be done on max level because only then you have all your utility skills for extra damage und group buffs.

Something I just caught on, the reason why the additional item doesn't appear at the start of the video is because that specific video hadn't been done yet. So when you finished watching the "Melee DPS" video, the Lance shows up for Dragoon and "Melee DPS". The other two represent Healer and Tank, so odds are the next would be Magic Ranged DPS or Physical Ranged DPS, being they are the only ones he hasn't done. Although I'd find it utterly hysterical if he did BLU..

Okay, only *certain* jobs are available to you at character creation, but you can unlock and play *any* job as you go through the game and level up *at least one job*. Sadly, the Laser Healer doesn't unlock until you have another job at level 70, and it IS more than a bit overwhelming to start. But I just started it myself and so far... it's okay. I really like the weapons so I'm taking my time with it and trying to get comfortable with everything. Reaper *also* unlocks at 70 and it is fecking AWESOME. Oh my word, it's amazing. It's *also* rather intimidating to start, but if you read the tooltips and start looking for how the moves work together, then it falls into place pretty well. As a side note, having leveled Samurai before I played Reaper helped me because the Reaper movement buttons (one for leap in, one for leap back) work very much like Samurai's movement buttons of the same type. Sort of. The combat design for FFXIV is pretty focused on making you move to avoid attacks, so that's going to be unavoidable no matter what you play. Some jobs are just better at it than others. There is *only one Healer* that starts at level 1, and that is Conjurer which upgrades into White Mage. I *highly* recommend it for people who want to start as Healers because it is VERY straightforward and easy to play. At least for me. It's where I started, after all. So yeah, hope you enjoy the game as much as I do. There is a LOT of specific information in the JoCat videos that are relevant to the FFXIV experience, so I'm not surprised that you don't understand some of the references. The biggest thing is to simply enjoy the journey.

The time limit for content is more symbolic than anything. Even if you take your time you shouldn't come close to running out. I think it's mostly there for 3 reasons: 1 - Prevent troll parties from clogging up the instance servers by idling into duties forever. 2 - If you get a really really bad premade group that spends most of their time AFK or fooling around, so it eventually ends without having to take a duty leave penalty that day. 3 - Give a chance to repair gear for very hard content that you're wiping to often. I had a party where someone had some incident come up and they were AFK for 10 minutes or so. They came back and we cleared the dungeon with plenty of time to spare.

okay gonna be breaking down some of Airi's questions as he asks them lets start with the first Comendiations these are done after a Duty weather it's a 4 man dungeon, 8 man trials/raids these usually given to someone in the group that has done good work typically it either goes to the Healer or the Tank of the group but sometimes DPS roles will get it as well. as for the length of the free trial right now it's all of the first and second expansion and patch content for both so patch wise this will take you threw patch 3.5 (A Realm Reborn (patch series 2.0) and Heavensward (patch series 3.0)) which will get you to level 60 out of the current cap of lvl 90 with some restrictions the biggest is no access to Retainers which is how you still items on the Market Board. The Dragon is the Primal Bahamut only fought in the Binding Coils of Bahamut the Raid series for A Realm Reborn but no one really does it. The Glamour Dresser were players store items they use to change the outfits they wear in game if you've played WoW it's simular to the Transmog system only you don't pay gil to use it and you only have (as of right now) 400 spaces to use later this month the space is going to be doubled to 800 the two types of Healers are Direct or Shield healers all four healer jobs split evenly down the middle with 2 Direct (White Mage and Astrologin) and 2 Shield (Scholar and Sage) and when your not needing to drop big heals/shields you need to be rocking your damage spells Technically there's two time limits on Raids there the base duty timer (typically an hour) and the enrage mechanic (which is usually around 15 minutes if your not doing enough dps) ok there is a swimming mechanic but it's not used in combat the tube around the black mage is a Layline a buff they drop on the arena floor where they stand in to do big dps (Black Mage is the most plant and cast of all the Magical DPS classes) okay the three bosses that he is using in this example are Nidhog, Alexander and Omega Weapon. As for your question about Damage Scaling on older bosses no just that there's phase mechanics so going to fast when a boss isn't done with specific phase you will be locked into the mechanics till the boss shifts phase. and you really don't need to make a new character to play a different job as you can play all jobs on the same character as the jobs are Weapon based so your a White Mage with a staff (same with a Black Mage just a different look compared to WHM) Off Global Cooldowns are abilities that aren't tied to the rolling GCD and they typically have a set time when they come off cooldown. the helm Quibbles is wearing for his FFXIV incarnation of JoCrap is the Chocobo head what's under is a Gaysha Green (typically used to feed Chocobos) gonna be honest if you had joined in around 2.0/3.0 yes there's is a lot of button bloat now days there's a couple of jobs that still have it and will be revised coming the next expansion yes some raids I've been in have been that close. though this has been answered ERP is erotic role play put 2 and 2 together this is typically popular oh trust me this is a common acurance for Sprouts (new players) who reach certain levels and still don't know how to play there class for the most part I mentioned this earlier but Black Mage is the most Plant and cast spell slinger in the Magical Ranged DPS jobs and like Mages in WoW moving will cancel the cast of the spell. The orange shapes your seeing are indicators of where the ability's is gonna deal damage in the area your in and you will need to move to avoid it it's very much a dance in this game. ah yes the cheese puff that is vulanarblity stacks this is more common in no high end raiding (there are other debuffs you'll have to worry about there) ah yes the sweet gear for doing Savage and such. to explain the end of the DPS video, the duty Queue DPS typically has the longest queue wait typically around 15 to 20 minutes depending on the duty you have signed up for and having a queue pop and then having the pop dropped due to a member of the matched up party while it does put you back to the front of the Queue having wait 30+ minutes sometimes can be frustrating. okay to break up how FFXIV breaks up DPS there is three distinct roles, Melee DPS, Physical Ranged DPS and Magical Range DPS this covers all those jobs and here's the breakdown for each role, 5 for Melee DPS, 4 for Physical Range DPS and 4 for Magical Range DPS this video covers Melee DPS so it's Monk, Dragoon, Samurai, Ninja and Reaper okay to explain the DJ thing basically it works like this typically if a club pops up in game they have a location given in the housing districts and the DJ will have a POV character in game but will have a link to Twitch where the DJ is actually playing on with a in game camera classes have been changed a lot typically the devs reserve this to expansion revisions of the class or if your a black mage the class changes every 10 levels after lvl 50. Damage Down is the most common debuff you can get in higher raid content (typically Savage Raid) the chat log of limsa thing Limsa Lomensa is the unoffical home of ERPers in game The Auron looking Sam gear is the lvl 70 Samurai Relic gear Uriange is member of the Scions and you interact with him a lot and he speaks a lot of Ye Olden English style talk (which JoCrap starts doing after the Uriange joke) depending on the duty, yes you can fling yourself off a battle arena that means you don't play Rogue as Ninja is unlocked by getting Rogue to lvl 30 (which finishes the Rogue Guild's storyline) heck in ARR alot of the jobs unlock at lvl 30, Warrior (get Maruder to lvl 30), Paladin (get Gladiator at lvl 30), Dragoon (Lancer to lvl 30), Monk (Pugilist to lvl 30), White Mage (Conjurer to lvl 30) I think you get what I mean the Black mage joke, Yoshi-P the director of the game actually plays the game and his Main is Black Mage. Samurai is a very much a difficult class as with Positional skills you have 3 single target combos plus 2 AoE combos your consumable bar that you use to smack them harder As a Reaper main it's technically not a ghost it's a void sent (a being from the void relm I'd explain more but there's major spoilers about it) Sage right now is probably the most finicky of the Healer jobs right now and you need to get a job to lvl 70 to unlock the job (as it's one of the two newer jobs along with Reaper in Endwalker) new jobs in each expansion has level requirements to unlock Heavensward (lvl 30 for Astro, Machist and Dark Knight) Stormblood (lvl 50 for Red mage and Samurai), Shadowbringers (lvl 60 for Gunbreaker and Dancer) and Endwalker (lvl 70 for Sage and Reaper) they typically start the expansion jobs 20 levels before cap (though Heavensward is the exception with 30 levels till cap)

1:28 basically, yeah 2:18 in lore time is separated to Astral and umbral eras. For example A realm Reborn takes place in the 7th umbral and Astral era. Yup. Most dungeons are usually spaced in a way you only have like 1 or 2 abilities more than the previous dungeon in the early game (mostly in the 30 -50 range since you still have base class skills to earn and job abilities to earn). Once you hit the expansions its literally 1 new ability each dungeon, plenty of time to get used to new skills and see how it can work into your general rotation

Recomendation if you want dps go with archer/Bard as a start. Simple rotation that doesn't change too much from level 20 to max and you can move while attacking so you have an easier time avoiding damage zones. Also you provide some utility to the group. Oh and don't do all the sidequests. You'll be way overleveled. Just do main quest (special quest symbol) and your job quests. Also some of the blue quest who unlock stuff like dungeons, additional mechanics (like mounts) or aesthetic stuff like (glamour and dyes). There is a handy unlock progression guide that tells you when and where you can unlock stuff.

If you want a healer that moves less you want conjurer/white mage... but then you have to pay attention to where you are. Sage (the one that SHOOTS LASERS) on the other hand can be moving for a big chunk of their healing meaning you can move without having to worry about having to stop healing to run. Problem is that Sage unlocks pretty late so you'll probably start as White Mage.

Don't worry about the extra buttons, the way the system works is they slowly add more buttons as you level (and I do mean slowly), so you get used to each part of the chain as it's added. Edit: To be clear this is actually a decent amount of time if your leveling at the normal speed, not grinding (which means you have more time) or power leveling (which means you might not have enough). More than enough to get it down to raw muscle memory with no real thought needed.

So a few things: >The first DPS crap guide is in regards to Damage per Second as a general rule, this one (and a potential future one) deal in specifics on how the melee vs damage DPS classes work and general helpful tips. Generic DPS doesn't have a specific weapon so I assume he didn't add one to the intro screen bc it applies to ALL classes >The buttons look like a lot but they're from max level classes and are not as complicated as they seem bc they're slowly introduced as you level >The 'cabbage' is a ghysal green you feed them to chocobos (the bird mounts) so they follow you around like a pet and help when running solo content. The one JoCat's wearing is connected to the Chocobo head piece they're wearing >Limsa aka Limsa Lominsa is a major city in FFXIV where TONS of people AFK and do tons of emotes, RP, and general chatter in the game it's NEVER quiet and that chat log is ENORMOUS >There are a few edge case raids/trials that do have a mechanic that will kick you out of the arena and you will die (mostly due to knockback effects). Dragoon and Red Mage have a abilities that let you jump in and out quickly but if you're not careful and the arena changes/gets smaller you will get booted off the map and die. (I have started leveling dragoon and yes I have done this) >lucky for you Rogue (which turns into Ninja at higher levels) is not an available starting class so you won't have to worry about accidentally picking it up when you start lol Anyways hope this answers some of your more easily understandable questions/confusion. Final Notes: I've been playing for about a year and it's been SO GOOD. If you're looking for a simpler rotation I'd definitely recommend picking up a tank class. But DPS becomes very simple and is easy to follow because it's a slow skill build up as you level (Also if you pick arcanist you get a free healer leveled when they're higher lvl because it unlock both summoner and scholar, which shares 'arcanist' EXP) Archer (which turns into bard) and Thaumaturge (which turns into black mage are my personal favorites. HAVE FUN!

All right, you really should play this game because it did receive the award for best community and when you start playing you will learn really fast that any questions you have in the community will help you out. If positions aren’t your thing I would suggest playing ranged attackers, probably dancer would be the best choice for you. Trust me when I said this Sage (The one that shoots lasers) it’s really cool but healing does have a large scale cap and can be REALLY Stressful at times although I say this and then someone’s going to be like “all dancewear practice comes in” and they’re not wrong but I’m just warning you. The other reason to play this game: 1. The story is amazing 2. The artwork and some of the zones is insane and it will actually bring you to tears because of how Beautiful it looks (it did for me) 3. The soundtrack is beyond amazing

The concept of 'Enrage' (or a timer on a fight you must beat or you die) is usually reserved for the optional Extreme and Savage tiers of a fight (And Ultimates, which is beyond savage in that its a Gauntlet of multiple bosses back to back with no checkpoints each with its own enrage to beat and especially when it comes to the world 1st clears usually come down to the Wire of the DoTs from the healers being needed to make it to the killing blow, the major example used in this video being Perfect Alexander from the TEA ultimate fight which has a stretch of time after time locking every player in the party where DoTs still tick away before the fight blacks out and resets) Normal content very rarely has things even remotely close to an enrage purely just so people can eventually brute force their way through for the sake of 'story progress'

My suggestion for starting off in FFXIV is try lancer. Lancer/Dragoon is one of the easiest classes to play for starting off if you don't want major responsibility. The class will assist you with doing your rotation by highlighting skill/spells that are next in the combo. You could also setup a controller to use which can clean up the appearance of your skill/spell bars. The main thing to watch out for when playing as a melee DPS is the real life de-buff called "Tunnel Vision". It is usually the main cause for the running joke for Lancer/Dragoons being called "Floor Tanks".

You're accurate about the commend. A glamour dresser is a form of "chest" that's specifically set to make outfit loadouts for. Note these outfit loadouts DON'T affect stats at all and are purely cosmetic. But you can put any armor, weapon, or accessories into it outside of quest tied items. And all dungeons, bosses, etc are tied to levels and are synced as a result. So things like "Damage too fast" isn't an actual issue. Scaith is a super terrible black mage (advanced class) spell that has literally no reason to be pressed. And surprisingly yes, people do use dummy targets quite frequently tbh. Mostly from raiders tho Lunarcon is a convention similar to comicon but instead of Square Enix running it. The players run it for the sheer love of the game. The reason you don't see another "addition" among the roles is because DPS is filled between 3 classifications, ranged, magic, and melee. Which he'll (probably) be doing individually. Damage down is SUPER bad for DPS, it's something like a 60% damage output reduction. And as far as limsa thing is concerned, it's well known to be the "degenerate" gathering place, even tho I would say more accurately the afk hangout place. When it comes to death by falling, it's a yes and no. No because you can't die in the overworld from fall damage (unless you get immediately attacked, then a possibility depending on the HP remaining). But during boss fights most of them have an "instant kill" zone around the arena which is usually obviously shown as death zone However throughout the video, you were worried about button amounts. Don't fret too much, because you unlock these over time rather then all at once. And the community is SUPER helpful and SUPER patient so don't fret too much if you panic. The community is always willing to help

Every job levels independent so you might have a warrior at lvl 90 and a black mage at lvl 10 the game has catch up mechanics to make leveling faster for every job that isn’t the highest lvl job, so while you might have a person that knows how to play something like ninja and mains it the last time they touched paladin was last expansion 2 yrs prior to reach lvl cap

Some general tips: Character creation is all flavor don't worry about things like stats or exclusive skills or anything. You can unlock and level every job on one character so don't worry about your starting choice, it only really matters for which city you start in. Blue quests unlock new features, game modes, etc, if you see one try to do it soon. On the other hand yellow quests don't really have good rewards but expand on lore and characters, would suggest doing them when you have off time if only to clear out the map. Arcanist is generally considered the easiest class and it has the least amount of buttons in the game, it also gives you a free healer which is nice. Really just get the free trial and try it out, it's really generous and you don't have to worry that much about being good outside certain late game content. Also if you want I'd suggest watching the 1.0 trailer to get some lore on 1.0. The Speaker's Network "Fall and Rise of FFXIV" and NoClip Gaming's 14 documentary are also nice in terms of the development side of 1.0. (The last two are a bit long for a video though.)

INRE the party finder bit at the end of the DPS video, while I haven't seen anywhere he literally recorded it while waiting, the queue is sometimes (for deeps usually) long enough to be valid. Hence why the task video referenced their queue privilege. (I've seen it say average wait 30+ min and be correct. If you're queuing as deeps, it's a good idea to be doing something else on the side while waiting. Or get friends / FC members to queue with you as tank or healer and share their queue privilege.)

i recommend "basically which job" by larryzaur. its a bit more serious than the crap guides and goes over the general basic gameplay of each class. its outdated right now, because a new expansion came out, but its a good reference to sort of pick your favorite classes. then look up his "endwalker job" videos for your favorites, they are the same thing but just one class per video going over the new expansion changes.

  • @BaronVonHoovy

Bunch of info here to clarify things in the video: So the "Feint" button he mentions is a melee DPS exclusive utility button which reduces the damage the target enemy deals by a small amount (10% less physical damage, 5% less magical damage). While that's not *totally* insignificant, the ability has a somewhat long cooldown, is single-target, and most of the time you'd want to use it (like a big unavoidable attack that hits everyone in the group) the damage is magic damage anyway. Hence only "hitting Feint once in a blue moon". The "24-hour chat log of Limsa" is referring to Limsa Lominsa, one of the three starter cities - and the one that's most typically associated with degeneracy, slutty outfits, and erotic roleplay, which is why being forced to read said chat log is portrayed as a bad thing. He also mentions "a party at the Quicksand at 6" later, which is the only place more degenerate than Limsa and only on the server Balmung - it's more or less like Goldshire on Moon Guard in World of Warcraft, in that it is the primary place people looking for lewd RP go. As for the jumping off the map, yes - some boss arenas have hard edges, but there's also plenty of boss arenas where it's entirely possible to walk or jump off the edge to certain death, or into a field of fire or spikes or magic surrounding the arena. Thus, if your class has a "jump backwards" button, like the Dragoon, it's important to know exactly how far back you'll jump so that you don't use it too close to the edge. The ninja segment of the video is joking about how complex it is, as none of the ninjutsu combos are greater than three buttons long (e.g. Ten-Chi-Jin vs Ten-Jin-Chi) at most, but it really helps to commit them to muscle memory or else it'll *feel* like the joke versions in the video. Finally, if/when you do finally play FFXIV - you don't actually have to pick a single class! You can play every single class and gathering and crafting profession (which count as classes) on the same character! While you need to fulfill certain requirements to unlock the ability to learn new classes, once you have multiple classes, switching between the ones you have is as simple as switching your main weapon. They all level independently of each other, which can take a while if you want to level *everything* up, but it also gives you time with each class to learn how their core mechanics work.

  • @Radintoriov

If you want to start playing and are feeling like doing support but aren't sure, I'm going to recommend you start with Arcanist, which is a caster DPS. The reason is that once you get to level 30 in a job, you unlock the advanced version (ie Lancer becomes Dragoon), but with Arcanist you unlock both Summoner (the advanced DPS) and Scholar (a fun healer job). And since they are tied to the same base job, they level up at the same time so you can just switch between the two whenever you feel like doing something else. Also don't worry about getting locked into your job, once you get to level 15 and get past a certain point in the early story, you can start all the other base jobs by going to their respective guilds and switch freely.

So about that bit in the end of the first video about the duty finder, on the off chance someone else didn't explain this to you or you didn't see it or forgot the explanation: the duty finder sets up people looking for a specific or range of duties, and usually involves 1 tank, 1 healer, and 2 DPS's. And there are more DPS classes than tanks and healers combined, and they're much more popular than the non-DPS classes. As a result, it's rare that a Tank has to wait more than five minutes for the duty finder to find them a party, a healer rarely has to wait longer than instantly (seriously, 9/10 times as a healer, the duty finder finds me a party the MOMENT I hit "search") while DPS rarely has to wait less than 5 minutes, usually 20 minutes or more. And when the finder finds people, they all have 45 seconds to select "accept" in order for the duty to commence...and far, FAR too often someone fails to accept in time (9/10 times it's a DPS) despite all the penaties that happen when you fail to commence duties.

The Dragoon *can* jump out of arenas, and is about the only job who can consistently do so. For everyone else, they usually get knocked out by failing a boss mechanic. Dragoons have the “Elusive Leap” skill which allows you to create distance by jumping about the radius of the average 8man boss arena backwards. However, it does *not* confirm that if you do so, you will still be in the arena. Which means you can easily kill yourself by jumping to your death while trying to avoid an AOE. Which is why most Dragoons actually use it to close gaps instead. Turn back to target, elusive leap, attack.

I'd like to point out that it's a bajillion times easier to memorize the button order for your class if you know the thought behind it? It becomes less a game of "Press 1, now 2, now 3 ... now 20, hope you remember all that!" and more a game of "Okay, this one increases my damage, apply poison, 1, 2, 3 combo, now this increases the damage of my next hit, so now we press the one with the BIG damage and BIG cooldown, back to 1-2-3..." (Not only easier, it's also healthier, since you'll be better prepared to improvise if you make a mistake or something in the fight forces you to change what you do) The buttons are also doled out at a veeery slow, comfy pace. Sometimes too slow, actually... _flashbacks to leveling Black Mage_

I may not be privy to the details about Ifrit (get upset if too fast) but the general idea of the fight in current year is basically just making sure you are paying attention in general and don't burst down the boss as fast as possible, triggering health percent related mechanics. In FFXIV most if not all the fights are some kind of dance and if you ignore the rules of the dance don't blame anyone but yourself when you find yourself tripping in an ice skating rink wearing bowling shoes.

The reason there are a decent number of people at the level cap without knowing all their abilities is fairly simple: level skips. while most players do level up their first character to cap the old-fashioned way, they sell things in the cash shop (MogStation) to allow you to automatically skip your character to a pretty high level as a convenience for folks who want to get to raiding ASAP, and there are a decent number of transfers from other MMOs who assume all their knowledge from that other MMO transfers over and so don’t bother reading tooltips and practicing because “it’s just FFXIV’s version of this class I played in ,” or FFXIV single-class veterans who want to try out a new class on their same character real quick and just don’t bother…and a small number of total noobs with more confidence than sense that just pay to “win” anyway.

Imagine associating the typical abilities of cultivators and immortals in Chinese fantasy with monks, despite the fact that the stereotypical behavior of such individuals is basically the exact opposite of a monk.

fun fact, i was level 80 in a dungeon just using one aoe skill over and over. another player called me out. the problem was i play machinist, and machinst actually literally does only have 1 aoe button at level 80. more specifically theres a poison sprayer that poisons enemies in front of you with a 30 second cooldown, a flamethrower that shoots fire in front of you for 10 seconds on like a minute cooldown, and a single spammable ability that you can use during these cooldowns over and over. so while i knew my aoe combo at level 80, someone else thought they knew my combo better.

Please tell me you have the intention to react to "The Animated Spellbook" videos by Zee Bashew like you said you were going to a while back, and then when I brought it up you mentioned you were going to as well. He's even a friend of Jocat and has Jocat is in two of his videos as well.
