technically the thing with the cast bars being able to move toward the end exists in most MMOs, it based on communication latency and lag. ie the server cant check if you have moved fast enough to tell whether you moved at the end of the cast bar or not, so it just assumes IF the cast would finish before it can check next, it just assumes it did. There are actually addons for WoW that put markers on the cast bar telling you exactly when you can move, or start casting your next spell.

Oh yeah. BLM does do the big numbers, but it's like rocket science finding the most optimal rotation while staying alive.

Yep and every step you take may end up changing your rotation since you may have to pop a fire 1 to keep fire phase up but if you had not moved you could have done one extra fire 4.

As a BLM main, I don't even think of it as a rotation. I cast fire 4 until I run out of time and need to cast a fire 1, unless I have firestarter so I cast fire 3, until my mp is between 800 and 2400 at which point I cast despair, blizzard 3, then I cast xenoglossy/amplify/thunder/whatever as it is needed, then paradox blizzard 4 fire 3 and repeat

As a child who watched the Lindsay Lohan parent trap film that filled my heart with joy.

The insta-cast spell skill has the caveat on being on a huge cooldown so you can’t go spamming it. It’s mainly more for Summoners since they and red mages can rez. Black mages just play for funny numbers.

We Black Mages do our own thing. We have no obligations to the party aside from staying alive and joining stack markers, otherwise we stay in our Ley Lines and do big damage.

Summoners who know their rotation always have Swift on CD for Slipstream unless they're holding it for progging rez anyway.

As a Black Mage main, I can confirm that it is not at all easy to master. I still don't always do maximum dps, after having played it through the entirety of the story content and a good bit of side content (though some of that is the challenge that the later content provides). If you want an easy magic dps, it's probably summoner, honestly

Yeah current Summoner is pretty brain dead tbh, you kinda have to effort to do a bad rotation with it.

Fun fact! Samurai, the physical DPS, is more of a caster than Summoner. SAM has more casts in its 2 minute rotation than SMN with SMN having a total of 4 casts if they use their free swift on cooldown for Garuda.

While Black Mage is my favorite DPS class, Blue Mage I use most often because it's so fun. Nothing like farming Tomestones with an entire team of BLUs that blow themselves up to finish off the last boss.

Its hilarious when BLU can't use Limit Breaks. We made our own fueled by our very LIVES. Current record I've seen for a lvl 80 BLU is 2.4 million on a fully buffed final sting done to bahamut in T13. Rathalos could in theory double that since it has the 'down' mechanic that doubles the damage it takes while on the ground

​@@craigfunk3453should've long ago just added a huge explosion/whirpool/merry go round of Chaotic magic that does Huge AOE Dmg BUT its effectivness scales with how many spells BLU knows. Would've made it fit general Magic DPS style of LB3 and also reflect BLU's style.

@@Ghostel3591 of course the closest we have to that now is Titania's 'Being Mortal' spell which is a rather Chaotic cyclone of magic. But yeah I agree they could give us a much longer CD spell that scales off BLU spell learn count for damage. We have a bunch of LB1 and LB2 equivalent spells (especially when used under moon flute) just need that LB3 equivalent for offense

NOW they are, though. 12:00 Yup, that's blue mage. They can learn over 120 spells that monsters do by fighting them, letting them do the spell, and then murdering them. You can come up with some insanely broken and powerful combos which is why you can't do roulettes or high end content. BLU mage is either for solo fun or grouping up with 3-7 other blue mages in a premade party to utterly annihilate things. They even have their own log where you can check off doing most duties in a group of full BLUs.

Nah, Slide Casting is (supposedly) an anti-latency measure.

JoCat is not kidding about blue mage. Even Naoki Yoshida, the game's executive producer and gigachad savior, admitted that blue mages would make Ultimate raids (the literal most difficult combat content in the game) an absolute joke. If blue mage was not a limited job, there would be no job balance. Blue mage would be the only job worth playing by the numbers.

Which is why they're so popular when moogle tomestones roll around. Old content that a regular group rolls through in 5 minutes or so, a blue mage team can blitz in 30 seconds. Sure, all but one of them are dead at the end, but one is all you need.

Yeah Redmages have the nickname of 'Rezmages', and become _very_ popular when new bosses are released and people still need time to work out the mechanics. They can basically get more than half a raid team back on their feat in less than half a minute if they know what they're doing. They lag a little behind more focused DPS though, making them a bit niche.

As a black mage player, a majority of my time playing has been spent casting fire and fire II... It gets better at like... level... 60? 70? 80? Idk anymore.

The algorithm hates Jocat because he has 12 different genres of videos on his channel and doesn't stick to one formula for every single video. He did a few long-form reviews, a few let's plays, and then he did the crap guides to Monster Hunter. Then he ran out of MH weapons to guide for and had to diversify more of his channel content, killing his analytics.

So for those that don't understand what JoCat meant by the bance team and Blu Mage, Blu Mage DPS is utterly insane and they can litterally cheeze/skip mechanics maing alot of the more complex figuts a joke.

That is a pretty standard accordion, if you're thinking of something smaller, it's probably either very old-timey, or a children's toy. Accordions are like bagpipes, way more intensive that you might casually assume, basically a pedal organ, that uses your hands rather than your feet, while also using the airflow as an extra control variable.

The tune at teh end was not from South Park, it was from Animanics.

As a Red Mage, Summoner, and Blue Mage main, I can confirm that everything in this video is true. Black Mage can indeed suck it.

FF14 is free to play until lvl 60 come to eorzea we have...emotional damage :p

if you don't want the slide show or server lag of 1.0 then allowing anyone with a cast bar to slide at the last 1/5 of the cast bar is a good compromise.

I've lost count of how many times i've back flipped to my doom as a red mage LoL

BLU is the BEST job if you want to yolo hard content xD... extremes with bluemage a pure and utter chaos. Everyone is a dps but also a healer (if you have the highest hp after a mechanic)/tank (if you have aggro for whatever reason or randomly got assigned a tank mechanic) if required and most of the time you're on your own trying to adjust to a normally role assigned mechanic being randomised

So... the thing about JoCat's metrics being so bad. I am not going to make a lot of friends here but you could help improve on those by not making a reaction video within 24 hours of their posting original content. Every one of your nearly 80k subscribers is less likely to go watch the original because they've basically already seen it through you, and you get the traffic. However, big however, I am fully aware that in the world of KZread content generation it's "Do or Die" and if you're late versus all of your colleagues making these videos nobody might go to YOUR video or the algorythm has decided that it's old news. Maybe implore everyone watching you to go and actually do watch or click on the original video so JoCat can get their engagement as well if waiting longer is not a viable option. It shouldn't be too much to ask to go there, watch the first fifteen seconds and then the last ten for YT to think you've properly engaged if you really don't want to see it all again uninterrupted.

Necrit did the research into the impact of reaction vids on content. The effect was a minimal boost to viewers recommend of the source content if they interacted with the source video.
