    I love this message. After going through a very dark storm and surviving it by the grace of God and the help of the Holy Spirit. I now have zero desire for the world and anything in it. Just want to be still and Know that God is God and watch him work in my life.

    Why does reading about Job’s own suffering become a comfort to those who are suffering now? To know others are and have suffered, and God knows even when we feel alone.

    I've posted this poem about my daughter, Doni, on some of Piper's sermon videos about suffering. Doni has severe Autism, Diabetes, and Epilepsy. She has been violent, especially during puberty. And this disability has been a nail-biting ordeal, a sledge hammer in our lives, a wrecking ball. A heart break, a devastation. It has broken me. And that is good. It's good because God has been my only refuge. Did He allow this? He did. What were His reasons, how dare we ask? That I don't fully know at present, but I am promised to know in full one day, according to 1 Corinthians 13:12. I have learned, because the Lord has taught me in many tear filled bouts of desperation, that Doni is the answer to many earnest prayers. Prayers to keep me on the narrow road to salvation, prayers for righteousness, prayers to be made patient and more loving. Prayers to recognize, and sustain, the least of these among us. I wrote this poem many years ago, when I finally let go of my anxieties, and held on to Christ. I hope it is a blessing for any who might rest in it. Letting Go You were so small when handed to me -dark purple and still- you barely breathed. I hardly did, too… while waiting to see why you didn't cry or move suddenly. I held you tight, I wouldn't let go in that first moment unable to know… just what you needed or how to find it- that first of many moments, if I could rewind it… would I have you again? Knowing how it's been… so hard for you in a world you can't choose… where crowds upset you and people stare, where words are like a den of snares that trap and snag you in their maze, while you wrestle from a daze they leave you hanging on pieces gleaning, as you struggle with gestures for meaning… something wanted something found something lost or some strange sound ...has sent you wailing high and low… I hold you tight, I won't let go. How to ease your pain I seldom know, but I hold you tight and won't let go. I brace for impact, weather the storm- just to keep you safe from harm. But have you again? Of course, I sure would! For one of your smiles shines like the sun should. And for all of the blessings that came by surprise, as it was through you that Christ opened my eyes… and showed me the point of life as we know it- to lean on His grace, letting His power show it… to reach out to others and to lift them up high, not shrink from our problems or shake fists at the sky. And that's not to say it's all been a breeze, for I've spent many nights bent down on my knees… asking Him, “WHY?! Was it something I did? To deserve this lot, what crime have I hid? Have I passed down my sin to you?” I ask Him, “Please!” That it's not true! And in His Word, I have found rest. It's so that He'll be made manifest! And that, He is everyday- when prayer and praise chase fears away… when JOY is found on cloudy days, that is just when I feel Him say: “There's just one thing that you should know- I AM holding tight, I won't let go.”

    I can relate to this message my grandson born severely brain damaged and to make it simple in this conversation he had something like locked in syndrome but make it worse. He couldn't cry, he couldn't move, couldn't do anything. He had help to breathe, to eat, to blink yet God made sure that his mother had every inkling of how to take care of him and in all that for 7 years I saw God in him everyday he was absolutely beautiful up to the day of his death so thank you for this sermon.

    Sorry for your loss but you clearly have no idea what you are even talking about. We are all born in sin and in ignorance of God’s truth since we are born into a sinful fallen world that is ruled by the devil. Many believers fail to realize that it is sin, the devil and their ignorance of truth that will bring afflictions and suffering into their life. This is why scripture relates that if we live in sin then we will allow sickness and suffering into our life since sin and sickness is strictly of the devil. Now God promised to protect us from the devil’s afflictions as long as we repented of our sins and we chose to live a holy and righteous life by following what He commanded of us in scripture. And if you are having a hard time believing what I just related then maybe comprehending the scripture below may help you understand. Psalm 107:17. “Fools, because of their transgression, And because of their iniquities, were afflicted.” Know what this means? First transgression, it means an act that goes against a rule, a law or a code of conduct. Next iniquity, it means a wicked act or thing, sin. Finally, affliction, it means something that causes persistent pain or suffering. Translated it is saying that you are a fool if you do not follow God’s laws and commands and you go and sin because you will then have pain, suffering and sickness. In other words since you are disobeying what God commanded you are then being sinful and you and your children will now suffer for it. Since God is Holy, He will not stay in a sinful environment. So any person who disobeys God’s commands is then choosing to sin and they will lose God’s protection in this evil fallen world. So if you currently possess an affliction or if you are someone who can still get sick then you definitely possess sin in your life. Sin and sickness reveals that you lack knowledge of scripture and it clearly proves that you did not allow the Holy Spirit to teach you how to overcome your sins. “But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” ‭‭I Peter‬ ‭1:15-16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil.” ‭‭I Peter‬ ‭3:12‬ ‭NKJV So our lack of knowledge of scripture will lead us into sin and sin then opens the door for the devil to torment us with sickness and suffering. God allows this to occur since He warned us many times in scripture that our ignorance of His truth would allow the devil to destroy our lives and even the lives of our children. And yes, our sins can definitely be passed onto our children. They are vulnerable to the attacks of Satan and his demons as well and these attacks can occur both inside and outside of the womb. “Then it shall come to pass, because you listen to these judgments, and keep and do them, that the LORD your God will keep with you the covenant and the mercy which He swore to your fathers. And He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flock, in the land of which He swore to your fathers to give you. You shall be blessed above all peoples; there shall not be a male or female barren among you or among your livestock. And the LORD will take away from you all sickness, and will afflict you with none of the terrible diseases of Egypt which you have known, then but will lay them on all those who hate you.” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭7:12-15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.” Exodus‬ ‭34:6-7‬ ‭NKJV The iniquity (immoral behavior, sin) of the fathers will visit the children to the third and fourth generations. In other words the sins that the parents are committing will be laid upon their children and their children’s children. Since everyone is born in sin and ignorance of God’s truth this is why God commanded the parents to teach their children His word and truth so that they would understand how to live a holy and righteous life. Sickness is a curse and it is a sign that we are living in sin and disobeying God and His commands and all you need to do is read Deuteronomy 28:58-68 to prove what I relate. “Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭11:18-19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “If you do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE Lord YOUR GOD, then the LORD will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary plagues-great and prolonged plagues-and serious and prolonged sicknesses. Moreover He will bring back on you all the diseases of Egypt, of which you were afraid, and they shall cling to you. Also EVERY SICKNESS AND EVERY PLAGUE, which is not written in this Book of the Law, will the LORD bring upon you until you are destroyed.” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭28:58-61‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Now realize that certain demons bring sickness or disabilities while others can wreak havoc with the sexual desires that a child may possess. This is why a child may be born with a sickness, disability or they may start portraying characteristics of the opposite sex. This is where homosexuality then comes into play so understand that there are all kinds of demons who bring all sorts of sickness, disease and suffering. What doctors call cancer, God calls it a demon. What doctors call leukemia, God calls it a demon. What doctors call Coronavirus, God calls it a demon. What doctors call hereditary or genetics is simply a parent’s sins being passed onto their children through a demon spirit since every sickness of this evil world is from a demon spirit. Next, Jesus healed everyone in scripture without the use of any doctor so understand that God does not use doctors in order to heal. Doctors and their medicines cannot completely heal anyone. Doctors may be able to subdue the demon’s symptoms but they cannot remove the demon that is causing the affliction and the demon will eventually return and bring along other demons as well. So realize that overcoming sin through the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ is the only way to completely heal someone. “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12:43-45‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ ‬Now there are many believers who do not believe that their sins can be past unto their children and for some it is because they have confused what the Ezekiel 18 scripture is relating. “The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself. “But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; because of the righteousness which he has done, he shall live. Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord GOD, “ and not that he should turn from his ways and live? “But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All the righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; because of the unfaithfulness of which he is guilty and the sin which he has committed, because of them he shall die.” ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭18:20-24‬ ‭NKJV‬ This scripture is relating that our eternal fate is based on the sins that we ourselves commit during our lifetime since we will all answer to God for the sins that we ourselves commit. So a child will not be eternally condemned for the sins of their parent nor a parent condemned for the sins of their child. This scripture is simply explaining that our eternal fate is based on our own actions during our lifetime here on earth and it has nothing to do with how we are born into this life. Lastly, realize that there is no sickness with God and there is no sickness for the true children of God. So if there is sickness in your life then you are definitely living in sin and it is because you did not genuinely repent nor did you allow the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ to sanctify your heart in God’s one and only truth in order to overcome your sins.

    There are many believers who are actually children of the devil since they will foolishly try to use Job and many others from the Old Covenant as an example of a believer who possessed sin and sickness in their lives. When these ignorant souls try this nonsense they of course prove how they possess very little knowledge about God and scripture and they clearly reveal how they are sinners whose souls belong to the devil and not to God. Realize that we are all born in sin and in ignorance of God’s truth. None of us are born truly knowing God or His commands. So was Job then a righteous man? Yes, Job definitely did live righteously just as scripture relates. But what the believers who are deceived clearly overlook is how Job and all of the others from the Old Covenant were born in sin and in ignorance just as we all are. So anytime someone tries to use Job or David or anyone from the Old Covenant as the justification for their sin, suffering or for their sicknesses they clearly reveal how they do not even understand the differences between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. Whenever someone looks to those who lived under the Old Covenant to justify sin, suffering or sickness they reveal how they do even understand why Jesus had to come into this world. There was no cleansing of sins under the Old Covenant since Jesus had not arrived yet and so this is why Job or anyone from the Old Covenant still possessed sin in their lives. So even though Job, David, Moses or Abraham lived righteously they still possessed sin in their life since they lived under a Covenant where there was no cleansing of sins. Animal sacrifices were just an atonement for the people’s sin in the Old Covenant and they were sort of like a covering or a bandaid and they certainly could not cleanse a persons of their sins. “For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins. Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come- In the volume of the book it is written of Me- To do Your will, O God.’ ” Previously saying, “Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them ” (which are offered according to the law), then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:1-18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Sickness is the result of sin and as related in Deuteronomy 28 it is a curse for disobeying the commands of God. So possessing sin, suffering and sickness in your life reveals that you are someone who is deceived in their beliefs and you are definitely someone who is facing eternal destruction. “If you do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE Lord YOUR GOD, then the LORD will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary plagues-great and prolonged plagues-and serious and prolonged sicknesses. Moreover He will bring back on you all the diseases of Egypt, of which you were afraid, and they shall cling to you. Also every sickness and every plague, which is not written in this Book of the Law, will the LORD bring upon you until you are destroyed.” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭28:58-61‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ God provided spiritual and physical healing for everyone through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and if you do not possess this blessing in your life then it is simply because you are a deceived soul who is not comprehending what scripture is relating or you simply do not believe that it is possible. That is it in a nutshell and it is either because of your ignorance of scripture or your unbelief that you possess sin in your life and it is your sin that will bring the devil’s afflictions upon you and your children. Many believers are simply misguided and lost souls who have no idea what scripture is even relating and they are nothing more then children of the devil who are twisting verses of scripture in order to justify why they still can sin and why they can still get sick.

    I agree with John Piper that the devil need permission from God to inflict suffering on His children. Similar to this is the thorn in Paul's flesh which indicates that God permitted a messenger of satan to cause this pain for His devine purpose. But is this always the case? I mean The Bible also say that we should put on the whole armor of God and submit to Him and the devil will flee. Is the latter explaining how to avoid being tempted by satan but not harmed, or do we have an obligation of our own? Meaning can satan cause harm to a christian even without God's permission if we for a time don't submit to Him or fail to use His armor wisely?

  • @Conservative43

    @Conservative43

    Ай бұрын

    Hello friend. I believe that the answer to your question is is that the Christian has the responsibility to put on the armor of God, however, what happens is still Gods grace that that armor is effective against Satan because it’s still Gods word and the working of grace in our lives that Shields us from Satan. But, if Satan does hurt us it’s due to Gods blessing through that not our failure to put on the armour. We must consider who we are in Christ and know, like Job he did not sin against God, he didn’t know why this was happening to him only that evil has happened. We are called to be righteous, to be set apart from the world, like Job, to be found righteous covered by the redeeming blood of Christ as long as we have that Hope in us He will finish His good work that He began in us in Christ.

    "When the Righteous Suffer, Part 1" Kind Sir...I believe we "suffer"; because the Born Again's are THE biggest sinners on earth... ...Here is why? IF you were satan; would you tempt an atheist to sin? Not to mention Abominable Sin? Because ALL atheists; does EVERY thing satan wants us to do. So I believe that satan turns up the after burners; to the "Nth" degree; to almost force us to sin. And especially abominable sins. Now what does it take for us to be sin-LESS; under those situations? Note: there is NO one that will ever be Sinless on earth. But it can be lessened. How? Jesus gave us the key... Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Ooops. The first part of that verse was not translated well enough; to stop some Christians from believe that Jesus "tempts us" to sin. AND...He makes us "evil". Oh ineed and oh so sad. For it is NOT so! Thus, I will translate those crazy words; to make it for sure: WHO tempts us to sin. Matthew 6:13 And remove satan's, constant, temptational "desires" that often force us to sin, and deliver us from satan's evils: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. So, we Born Again's: CAN have our sins lessened; by praying OFTEN to Jesus ONLY; and asking him to stop satan fom tempting us. Again, there are NO sinless* people. Until Judgment Day when Jesus makes us perfect forever. Praise Jesus' Holy Name. IE: Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. Revelation 21:4 And Jesus shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. ...In any case kind Sir, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN! * Because we also have sinful genes; when we come out of the womb. Exodus 34:7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

    25 For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me. A different, more contextual account of Job is: God is having a yearly family get together amd sends out tje invites to be delivered y Satan. God looks around those who came, and asks Satan where have you been my dude. Satan tells all over the world big man. God ponders why his boy Job isn't here and asks Satan, why didn't you give Job an invite? Satan is like sure the dude seems to be a holyroller, but take away his comfortable life and he will curse you. God's like, well Satan, you have the power to do whatever, go do it, but if he doesn't, He's going to be at next year's festival. Job suffers, but he didn't curse with his lips (what's silent is his heart) Next year festival arrives and God's like, Satan my man, why didn't you invite Job? Satan explains, and Gods like, well alright go show me... And Job cursed. but a lesson is given. 7 Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward. 8 I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause: and Job does not accept the lesson or the next 10 My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul. nor does he learn from the next. 3 Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God. Job is then smacked with the harsh truth. 6 Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee. still job refuses to hear... see the pattern? His friends did. 32 So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in HIS OWN eyes. because he justified himself rather than God. then the young one gave his lesson until 16 Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge. Finally God shows up as is like, My dude, you think very highly of yourself, let me show you how small you really are. Job gets it on his reply 3 Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not. Job was not holy, he was one who did things, expecting things, this is not holy.

    (Matthew 12, 33 - 35) "Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things." (Matthew 19, 16 - 17) "And, behold, one came and said unto Him: Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And He said unto him: Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments." Looking at these two passages, one might come to the same conclusion, but they are both in the same gospel, so there is no unintentional contradiction. So there has to be some other solution to this problem, and there is. In comparison with God, no human is good, just as in comparison with a puppy, no insect is beautiful. However, just as among insects one can distinguish those clearly disgusting and those not so ugly, so among people one can distinguish good ones, that is those who love the Lord and hate their sin, as well as the bad ones, that is those who love their sin and hate God.

    While Jesus is our friend, He is so much more. Do you talk with your closest friend with reverent fear or more like an old dear friend whom you can agree or disagree with? Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Reverent fear is required in order to learn and grow in the Lord and to accept His wisdom and guidance.
