Спорт

Ross Edgley has become the first person ever to swim around mainland Great Britain. This is the Great British Swim.
► Watch all episodes: win.gs/GreatBritishSwim
► Read more about the Great British Swim: www.redbull.com/gb-en/project...
It started as a dream, that at times turned into a nightmare, but in the end finished victoriously. After nearly three thousand kilometres of swimming Ross Edgley has entered the record books - again - by becoming the first person in history to swim around the entire coast of mainland Great Britain. It’s a feat that will be poured over, discussed and analysed for years to come, but for now it’s about simply enjoying the final moments of this most extraordinary swim and beginning to truly appreciate the impact it’s had on so many people.
Through weekly vlogs and live broadcasts of the voyage, we want to leave you feeling motivated and ready as ever for your next big challenge. The Great British Swim pushes the boundaries of what the human body is capable of. How can you embody this test for yourself? Ross Edgley’s ‘The Worlds Fittest Book’ is being backed up in a big way with this ultimate test. Oh - and for context? “It’s the equivalent of swimming the English Channel every day.

Ross Edgley for Knighthood. After all, I think we all see this at the same level as the great adventurers of the past! A true modern pioneer, inspiring nations. That’s got to be worth a touch of the sword on both shoulders, no?

A knighthood is about honour and service to other people, things like this are for world records and Guinness breakers where everyone can be at awe of achievements like this. At the end of the day who cares about some award the royalty care about, pretty sure Ross doesn't lol. Many people turn down knighthoods because they don't want the class indifference of being called a Sir.

Knighthood as said already is an honour generally earnt through public service. for example Sir David Attenborough got a Knighthood through service to television education and service to the natural world. in theory it could be argued he did a service to sport, however if any award could be bestowed it may be an OBE.

S'up Ross? Last Sunday me and my two year old daughter watched you finish on the livestream. As she is too young to remember this in later life, I actually made pictures of her watching you finish. I want her to know who inspired her daddy to get his lazy ass of the couch and onto his bike. Two weeks ago I rode my first 110 mile trip - smiling. I'm going to miss your vlog, thank you for inspiring me.

This makes me even more proud to be from Great Britain. What a legend.

Man it's hard to find true inspiration these days. GBS showed me what a single human being can accomplish and what's really inside a person. It felt like "unleashing the beast" if you know what I mean. Thank you Ross, you are an inspiration and now I'll never ever have a reason to quit anything ever. You're the man Ross.
