That transition from The Last of Us theme to All Gone (No Escape) was so smooth. I loved this track the most of the TV soundtrack, I think. It really changed the tone of the scene for me - playing the game this part can feel almost heroic. The TV version really doesn't leave any room for that - this is a tragedy that's going to have devastating consequences.

They sealed their fate when they decided to kill a child without her consent. Not only that, they screwed over the deal they made with Joel in the beginning and wouldn't even let him say goodbye. Also, the supposed "cure" wasn't even guaranteed, it was a maybe. Besides, the "cure" does nothing when the zombies tear you apart. It was only a tragedy for the Fireflies, they fucked over the wrong man.
@mikhaillazarau5721
Жыл бұрын
@TyrDrum The answer may be "simplified": Joel narrated the story of failing to commit suicide due to loosing the sense of life for passed away daughter. Fireflies effectively reproduced the situation. I'm sure if he walked out of the hospital, he would complete his unfinished business because it would be unbearable for him to loose it for the second time. So, from the perspective of him, Joel made everything right: he took his last "impossible change" to make everything right for himself or die trying.
@flameracer93
Жыл бұрын
@@TyrDrum the game left it more ambiguous. Joel came across as more of a hero. Most gamers empathised with Joel in proventing a unconsented sacrifice, which is why when the second game tried to treat Joel as a villain he backlash was so severe. With the show, the creators tried to rectify that mistake by making it more obvious that Ellie would've wanted to make that sacrifice, by putting in elements of Joel needing to take care of someone for his own selfish sense of purpose, so they can portray Joel as more of a villain without having viewers immediately hate Abby
The way they implemented this soundtrack and the way all other sounds were drowned out by it was so good. It expresses that Joel is set on a single goal, and nothing else matters. He must save Ellie, no matter the cost. Losing a daughter again is not an option.
the music really brought the whole scene together 🤌🏼🤌🏼
@JeremyBraunsMusic

Agreed!
This might be my favorite scene from the show. This soundtrack mixed with only hearing the gunshots PERFECTLY captured the horror of what Joel was doing. It's like we're so glad he's saving Ellie but simultaneously mortified at how ruthlessly he mows down anyone in his way. This is one of the few moments I'll give to the show over the game. Having no objective but sitting back and observing Joel really makes you sit with the weight of his decision. This is one of my favorite implementations of musical storytelling ever.

This scene and soundtrack combined was one of the best bits of cinematography I've seen in quite a while. Making sure the audience sees things exactly as they are. Make it too focused on the fight and people might view it as a cool action scene. Show nothing and people won't understand the gravity of what Joal is doing. So they filmed it at odd angles, focusing on Joel's boots, dropped shell casings, him coldly prying weapons from the hands of men he'd just killed, and the straight up executions of multiple fireflies. And as the music swells, so does the violence, mass slaughter juxtaposed with extremely solemn beats that clearly reflect the tragedy of what's happening onscreen. What a scene!

This scene was so epic, the way we know deep down Joel is a good man but in this moment he went into full protective dad mode.. nothing else matters, everyone dies, as long as baby girl is ok, his one reason to live.
I love how much darker the soundtrack gets both in show and in game during this moment. It really shows that joel went into killer instinct mode and wasnt gonna let anybody stand between him and his little girl, all whilst keeping an incredible emotional feel because at the end of the day joel isnt doing it cause he is evil, he is doing what he is doing out of love.

Just listening to this makes me wanna cry
I didn’t even know this was a cover it sounds that good
The way he effortlessly dropped Abby’s dad in this show had me dying…lol
Joel was a broken man. He had got nothing to lose. And he had made peace with the way he had been living his life. His eyes were full of pain, he didn't even need to tell people that he was in pain coz his eyes were there to make people understand his condition and then outta nowhere Ellie(an orphaned kid similar to his daughter's age) came into his life and not only the circumstances brought them closer, it was ellie's efforts too, she made him feel things again, she made him realise that she was alone, without parents, heck she didn't even know what does it feel like to have a protective father in your life? She was equally broken and was desperate to have a father like figure in her life and Joel's presence made her feel more that she had no one in her life whom she could call her family. So, both were equally broken and empty inside and fate brought them closer and Joel again became the protective father he once was, and that's what ellie wanted too. So what wrong did he do when he massacred whole hospital staff and fireflies just coz he didn't wanna lose his sarah once again? He didn't want to be left alone once again? He didn't wanna feel that pain again? Don't you guys do the same if your child was there laying on the bed, without knowing whats actually gonna happen to them? You all, who are busy in calling joel horrible, would have done the same my friends. Its easier said than done that i would have loved to see my daughter getting killed for the purpose(that was a big "maybe") wasn't even guaranteed. He did NOTHING WRONG. he had already gone through that horrible pain of losing his daughter and didn't want to experience it again. So, you all need to stop being a moral police for once and need to start looking at things with Joels perspective too. And i know whats gonna happen in S02 and showrunners have already made it clear that there won't be any big changes so I (im purely talking about what i think of s02 only) so no need to come here and tell me.. i am weak n all this crap.. so, if they are gonna stick to TLOU2, then, get joel killed in the finale of S02, so that it doesn't feel rushed, introduce abby, make us feel for her and then make her take her revenge, this would make more sense than killing him off in the beginning without giving any proper start to abby's arc. Show got fame not just coz of Ellie, i know many non gamers who fell absolutely in love with this show coz of Joel's acting and character so better stick to what the title says or don't bother making S02 at all. Coz one thing im sure of is.. that killing joel early might bring a massive drop in viewing cos many people already don't like ellie. So, kill joel for sure, but not in the beginning and don't make him villain. He was Just A GRIEVING FATHER WHO LOST HIS DAUGHTER WHEN HE ONLY HAD HIS DAUGHTER IN HIS LIVE IN THE NAME OF THE FAMILY.
God damn it, it hits hard 😢 For having play the game when it was originally released and the remake in September, I assure you it's sumptuous, I felt everything 😢😢😢
"You never appreciate what you had until it's gone" "No, just never thought you would lose such things."
This is an incredible piece of music.
I think that this whole scene was perfectly made to where it really shows Joel's absolute rage and love. And THE MUSIC-- the music is just so sad but is also filled with anger. Also, it really shows how sad the scene really is. Joel is a broken man, and everything leading up to this moment has reminded Joel of his failure and has sparked his fear. Sarah, Tess, failure to protect the people he loves. Henry and Sam, the reminder that failure would probably end up killing him and/or Ellie. In this scene, Joel is so filled with rage and sadness, and love. And because he has failed to save the people that he loves, he will do ANYTHING to save Ellie NOW; even if that means that he absolutely massacres the Fireflies, and THAT is absolutely horrifying.
I really like how they filmed the shootout. Brutal and raw. I wasn't terrified or surprised, between the way it's filmed focusing on the blood and the deads and the music I was just sad. It's a very sad thing. No matter the intentions behind or the motives what Joel is doing is terrible.
this song is an exact reflection of all the feelings i felt from each episode and just in that moment of joel rampage there was a relief of all those emotions and then i cried. i can relate to that exept the appocalypse part and thats very true never give up trying to find something or someone to fight for (i try to express myself as much possible im french its very hard xD )

What if they went through with it and it had the same result as every other cure attempt that ended in failure? I really liked that they had Joel talking about how futile all the other attempts were earlier in the season. They had Ellie question whether it would work. What if they killed the only immune person and wasted this incredible gift? What do you think Joel would do? This felt like fate. They would have failed and she would have died for nothing. I really love how you extended the cello bit at the end of the song from the TV show at 1:33 and made it even more emotional. If HBO somehow has an extended cut of the hospital scene, this would be the perfect score to go along with it.
the scene where in all the infected erupted from the cave in, it was a better show of how dangerous these infected are in large groups and how they overwhelmed humanity with their equipment. the bloater then made the scene whole (especially if you've seen them ingame on the harder modes), i feel like i haven't seen any particularly dangerous "monster" in many series or games recently, it is a bummer because i love the thrill and dificulty aspect of a apocalyptic world like this and it tends to fall short on the horror of it all

Joel did the right thing. Getting a vaccine won’t do much. The world is broken already. And plus Eli said I would go anywhere you go. Knowing joel he hasn’t gonna let her die. He saw many people die already. Even if it’s selfish and probably what Eli didn’t want. You can’t just give a man something to protect and destroy it last minute.

Facts Society fell. The world was already doomed. A vaccine wouldn’t have changed any of that. Joel 100% did the right thing.
Wonderful arrangement, well done!🥺♥

Thank you!
This scene with this soundtrack made me feel goosebumps. An Epic moment indeed!!
Absolutely brilliant, thanks for this. Broke my heart for the 6th time.
I love this version of the song because it has this essence of this decision will be Joel's down fall. This choice will have ripples and that through saving someone else you have damned yourself
i love this situation of understanding him and beeing with him because you saw the pain he has lived with, but you also cant deny the fact that he doomed everyone to a horrible live hwo knows for how many years more. is like that feeling that some people has for their family members, you are with him but you are also with the rest of the world
Amazing job man🔥
Really great visual. Thanks.
Incredible work!

I feel bad for every adaptation from game that turn into live-action they all crap, but this, so much expectation and yet they delivered this story in such fenomenal way.
It went from feeling like the hero and gunslinging in the game to an outright depressing grief-struck sequence
While its a bummer to not see a lot of action, i think it was for the best. This scene probably had the most violence, or the horde from ep 5, and it makes the choice feel so much heavier. Wonderful adaptation. Here's to season two!
This part at 1:07 actually sounds better in your cover than it did in the original episode

I think the original was being more grounded and gave a bigger beat

@@thegerman662 The piece they used in the episode sounded like they truncated out a part of the soundtrack, and used a crappy fade effect to blend in the two smaller audios. Maybe most people didn't notice, but as someone who's listened to All Gone (No Escape) countless times I thought it could have definitely been more polished lol

@@SceneSurgeSnippets I played the original game when it came out and have all the versions. I was there when the remastered version came out and Part 2. I never forgot all Gone (No escape)
"all gone" put here,one word: CHILLS!
A masterpiece work 👌 I'd do the same to protect her, plus Marlene never asked Ellie about sacrificing herself to save humanity! I don't understand how people are blaming Joel for this ...
This gives me goosebumps
from the middle to the end, it reminded me a lot of the game of thrones soundtrack, especially before entering with the guitar
Gustavo, la interpretacion en los instrumentos, como en Babel, o secreto en la montaña , sublime
I will only say one thing, I needed it, thank you
Amazing soundtrack💜
neil druckman wanted this to be a scene where you’re supposed to hate joel. not a chance.
fits to well that violin to strike the heart is just too good
