It blows my mind how such a beautiful woman can feel insecure about her looks, she looks amazing. I hope she is now at a point in her life where she realizes that. In that last frame where she was showing the dress, she was beaming with happiness. Amazing to see, hopefully she can look at herself like that every day from now on. To everyone reading this: you are beautiful, you matter, you are allowed to take up space and I’m proud of you! ❤

Society..because people are cruel and if you look anything outside what society considers normal ...people see you as an easy target to bully, put down and rip to pieces... a friend of mine gained a large amount of weight after her hubby died...she asked me if I would walk with her as she wanted to lose weight... a car with 4 young men in it drove past ...looked at her and yelled MOO at her. She didn't leave the house again for almost a year after that. People are cruel.

The best people feel horrible about themselves because their self image has been permanently damaged by bullying but the bullying has taught them compassion for others.

It seems Jo has found equilibrium. She used to be much larger, but feels no need to be smaller. An inspiration for any bride.

Hearing her speak is so heartbreaking. I was anorexic as a teen and at 57, I still struggle with negative mindset so I can relate. I am so glad she went to you 2! You have a way of making people see who they really are!!

She's had those feelings about herself long before she met that man. And... I think it's about looking at yourself in the mirror. All of their clients have some amount of that -- but... all of them have found someone who loves them. And... I feel that when they're not looking in a mirror, they are happier with their day-to day.

Me too! After expecting to have fun trying on lots of dresses, I loved first one I tried. I did give one more a go just to make sure, then realised I didn’t need or want to spend any more time looking. Still love it today, more than 30 years later ( and my lovely hubby too🤗 )

I've seen a lot of this show, but I so empathised with this particular woman. I have Body Dysmorphic Disorder, and while I have been small and big, except for the occasional moment at any size I don't recognise my own reflection, it is just a stranger that I hate. She looked absolutely wonderful, and I'm so glad she could see it herself.

I think she's tremendous. I love her and wish her every happiness and hope these days she believes in herself in every way.

Therapy helped me so much! Most always thin people don’t understand us. We have used food in different ways, and gain EASIER! Get the therapy for food disregulation/eating disorders. Use therapy as self care, like a manicure. Self care is health care.

I am really thin and I have a lot of issues at times…I literally cried days because I hate my body. I see brides online regretting their choices on their dresses and I always come to their aid because I don’t want others to feel unsure or hate their bodies. I know how they feel and I feel better about myself to help someone else.

Blame cheerleaders, beauty contests, teen magazines, actors, actresses, an entire society with no tolerance for anyone who is different. I recently had similar surgery, lost at least 3 sizes, but I’m still wearing my old clothes and buying new clothes in my old size. It takes an entire mind change to accept oneself as something less than “big”. Maybe I’ll realize what I’ve accomplished in another 30 pounds. I still feel like I’ll be on a lifetime diet. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. I’m healthier but not what I thought I’d be.

Al had surgery and lost A LOT of weight so it would've been difficult to work with curvier brides because brides probably wouldn't have felt as comfortable with someone so slim.

She is lovely. It's amazing what a proper fitting garment can do for a person. I feel for her as I was in the same boat a few years ago. This is why gastric surgery is NOT the answer to weight issues. It forces you into a body you are not prepared for, particularly after very fast weightloss, and it does NOT teach you the lifestyle skills you need to maintain a lower weight. It's not a one-and-done solution. I've not met a single person (and I've known many) who have been happy and/or had longterm success with gastric surgery.

You need to change your minds way of thinking before you change your body, i say this with nothing but love for all the women out there that feel just like this bride 💜 stay positive

After huge amounts of weight loss no-one talks about the excess skin. People are telling you how much better you look but you know under those clothes is a nightmare. It feels like you can't win as there is no way to remove it from everywhere. BUT - I have found better health as well, so that outweighs (no pun intended) the skin issue.

This lovely lady is a great example of why wls patients must have therapy. Before wls. During recovery from wls. Ongoing after wls.

Just goes to show weight issues are less about the stomach and more about the mind! That is why weight loss surgery seldom works.

Don't ever confuse "normal" with average. As individuals, we all have our own normal. I can guarantee mine is way different to yours, but my normal has been mine for going on seven decades.

When she said size 12 looked worse. She's talking about excess skin. In what world is size 28 better than 12. It's a shame they didn't prepare her mentally for how awesome and smaller she'd look and what that may LOOK like.
